  • To think, all this trouble could have been avoided if they'd just told him they were going to buy him a birthday gift with that money.

  • Happy birthday, Donald!!!! How old is he now?

  • glitch at 0:55 it is donald duck's hand not the boys hands

  • I think I had this on video, but I couldn't quite understand anything going on because I was so young. Now the last minute is just incredibly disturbing to me.

  • That's what my uncle does on his birthday... sleeps all day. lol

  • Donald Duck is being an asshole

  • That was when everything was cheap. I like this. I just had my b-day 3 weeks ago

  • Loveeee

  • lol finnish dub has more views :D

  • they would have never made this today

  • from 2:00 to 2:31 parents (or adults in general) know how to kill little kids' joy :'(

  • haha watched this when I was a kid, I AM SHOCKED! hahahaha

  • Donald Duck is so mean to those 3

  • You know, a LOT of people get the relationship between Donald and his nephews very wrong and they don't understand it. It's very heartbreaking! Both of their actions were motivated by love. Donald wanted to teach them to save and boys wanted to surprise him, but they spend so much time playing pranks on each other that they don't really trust each other. Donald himself once said, "I love them but they break my heart" under Ludwig's hypnosis. :(

  • when groucho marx coaught his sons smoking at what age i dk he supposdly just gave him a better cig cause he thought his wasent a good one.

  • i remember watching this in first grade but i remembered it as donald putting the lit end of the cigar into their mouths haha

  • my uncle made his kids eat a cig when he caught his kids smoking. Yeah it was wrong but it happened none the less.

  • Take my advice. Do as I say. Save a little money for a rainy day.

  • Donald Duck: (technically) a former Nazi, also was in the US Army, beats the shit out of most of the people that cross him, shoots guns, strangles anger management machines, fixes cars, forces his nephews to smoke cigars. Most badass uncle ever.

  • @TieLandProductions He was never a Nazi! He had a nightmare about being a Nutziland factory worker!

  • @Pygar2

    Hence the "technically".

  • My favorite parts of this were when the one trys to stomp it out secretly and donald is like aw no you dont because I always liked to stomp on stuff as a kid espcialy cans and he grabs it and stuffs it back in his bill, and then at the end just stuffs them full of cigars and just pumps the bellows furiously with all his might just like I used to do when I got the oporatunity to play with a set from a fireplace, always thought it was the neatest things the bellows >-< lol

    manga12

  • What memories this has brought back! Thanks for uploading this!

  • KIDS CAN BUY SMOKES BACK THEN!!?!? XD

  • (6:00) LOL, the boys look like they're stoned!

  • Oh god, the ending is HILARIOUS! Donald tries to give his nephews a "good smoke" lesson, complete with the billow, and then when he finds out the stogies were a birthday present for him, he shrinks because he fells awful for what he did to his nephews!

And it was also one of the many ways cartoons have taught me smoking isn't healthy.

  • Awesome.my 3 year old loves this!

  • what are you buyin?

  • lol

  • Why would the Nephews buy Cigarettes to Donald anyways?

  • @CrabbyDarth2122 Cause it was a birthday present for him. Donald has been seen smoking cigars on occasion.

  • @lordthawkeye Really, which cartoons?

  • @BokanProductions One I can name off hand was "Cured Duck" where he buys an anger management machine. He's smoking a cigar when he goes to visit Daisy.

  • 4:35 freaking funny:D.

  • @Ag0RxxLCSxx Two words for you: Stockholm syndrome.

  • Comment removed

  • I saw this cartoon for the first time when I was six years old. I laughed through it, but I cried at the end for several minutes...Poor nephews...

  • my favorite part is when he shoves those cigars in his nephews mouth

  • A disney cartoon endorsed by Talkradar.

  • talkradar

  • 2:04 game deals.

  • Back then I thought donald was a super mean uncle for treating his nephew like that.. Nevertheless, this episode also made me afraid of cigars as well. so yeah. this episode worked out pretty well for me.

  • @seamusfinnigan2000 To be honest, that goes to show that smoking's VERY bad for ya, doesn't it?

  • Nostalg

  • Love how he cuts a bit off the nephews tailfeathers when they go outside again.

  • @lifeeconomics812

I don't think the Huey=red, Dewey=blue, Louie=green thing was standardized until DuckTales in 1987. Before that, it wasn't consistent. Originally, I think Huey was red, Dewey was orange and Louie was yellow/green, but that wasn't set in stone. And in later films like this one, all three were red, though in comics the colors were sometimes red, yellow and green, sometimes red, green and blue, or something else. Ever since DuckTales, I think it's been consistent everywhere.

  • 5:50 Donald's got a little hotbox going on in there.

  • This cartoon is sick, completely twisted and undeniably wrong.

    I love it.

  • @mamamuas LOL. Reminds me of the one where Donald's nephews tricks him into thinking he is sick and dying. That's kinda twisted too. XD

  • @LeSage013 The Duck family is the original dysfunctional family in animation. Do something with that, Disney xD

  • @mamamuas he says what we are all thinking!

  • Today our favorite duck turns 77 years old (His real birthday is June 9th, not March 15th like the cartoon says). Happy Birthday, Donald!

  • @365ral In my family's old collection of classic Disney stuff on (on Beta tape I think) is a copy of Donald's 50th birthday party from 1984 hosted by Dick Van Dyke.

  • Happy Birthday Donald.

  • Happy Birthday Donald!!

  • Huey Dewey & Luey are SO ADORABLE :)

  • WOW. This is an awful episode. Donald really comes out looking awful in this and theres not really any closure.

  • GREAT!!!

  • This disturbed me so much as a child. You bunch of sick fucks! What a horrible visual. And do we end with him treating his nephews to a great time? No, it just ENDS. As if to say, you've seen the rape, and that is really all you wanted to see isn't it? Disgusting, absolutely disgusting. What is the point of it? Is it supposed to be funny? Educational? What filth.

  • @robotpanda77 What does it make disgusting? That donald make them smoke? Well those kids where first smokers so if they smoke alot in first time you feel sick.. i mean really sick... How can you compare this to rape?

and yes i think this is pretty funny :D

  • @PivotZand This is one of the most vile things I have seen in my life. The idea of donald coming out against them smoking is hypocritical enough. HE SMOKES. It is okay for adults to kill themselves, just not kids I guess. How can he preach about not smoking when he does? And he hurts them as if that was a good way to teach them. What is funny about watching three kind, good intentioned youngsters be hurt so horribly?

  • @robotpanda77 Never seen donald smoking, and these are the old times. then people didin't know about the dangers of smoking. I see if you find this horrible or something but no need to get butthurt about it, past is in past.

  • @robotpanda77

It was 1949, not 2011. Times change...

Smoking was like eating at that time.

  • @s1ppr Why did donald try to stop them from smoking if they were all so unaware of how harmful it was?

  • @robotpanda77

The way he makes them stop here, is a very effective way of stopping them from smoking. Even if it is the "wrong" way of doing it. But again, this was 1949, maybe this was how they did it?

  • @s1ppr I don't give a damn what time period it was, what he does is wrong and that it is presented as "funny" entertainment is despicable. Even if people were stupid back then they still knew it was wrong to hurt children like that.

  • @robotpanda77

    Hurting children?

Do you think they would smoke more after he did that? Even if he misunderstood. It´s not called hurting children, it´s called strict learning. Hurting children is putting a knife at their throat/beating them while you tell them not to smoke. If you think 1949 was anything like today, you should think again.

  • @robotpanda77 They're not children, they're CARTOON DUCKS!!!

  • Me aND My everytHing !

  • Its funny because the box said 50 cigars but Donald gave 20 to his nephews and ran out! XD

  • 5:28 this is my favorite part!

  • I had this cartoon on a video tape when I was a kid-my dad had taped it off the TV. That copy had been edited, though. It was nice to see the whole episode here.

  • Hah! i love how it just ends on that note! Man this ep really made me dislike donald as a kid. That guy had ANGER issues XD

  • For once Donald's nephews aren't brats and Donald punishes them for it.

  • i born on friday the 13th of may ^^

  • 1:17 I saw more than 3 ducklings

  • So Donald birth day is March 13

  • So Donald's birthday is March 13. I wonder if he was born on Friday the 13th? ;)

  • @MWolfL Very likely :).

  • haha Funny

  • EPIC FAIL

  • I don't agree with Donald's method to keep the boys from smoking. Letting them try it is a bad idea. It will make them sick, but after that it could make them want to smoke.

  • Yes, I agree that the ending was disturbing, but I have a question: are Huey, Dewey and Louie orphans or do they only hang out with their uncles Donald and Scrooge? Who are their parents?

  • @gunman771000 In one cartoon they were Daisy's nephews, not his...but it's mentioned Donald has a sister though we never see her and that's where they come from.

  • The ending was disturbing, man.

Donald got struck down by his own murderous badassery.

  • 2:16 "What are ya buyin'?"

  • Love it. Kids today can't see this kind of thing because they're not as smart as we were when we were kids. Lol. I love it though.

  • am i the only one who understands all the things donald and his nephews are saying?

  • @wlymca I never used to understand any of it as a kid, just like the Swedish chef from the muppets, now that I'm older now I can understand it better though some things still take listening over a few times.

  • DOUCHE!

  • I had the Swedish version of this :D

    "Stoppa tebaks!"

  • Take my advice, do as I say, save a little money for a rainy day!

  • donald hijo de puta

  • @lifeeconomics812 I don't agree that being distinguishable by red, blue, green is cooler. Whenever they are identical, Donald, Daisy and Scrooge McDuck it is amazing they have a knack from knowing one from the others, which could probably be their instincts. Besides their taste and favourites are as identical as their shirt and cap colours. Mind you their different costumes in "Trick and Treat" are good, but all three dressed as redcoats in "Straight Shooters" gives them a positive impression.

  • @MrsDisneyGal I don't think so ;D I was born on March 13th :p and Friday the 13th is a luck day for me ;D

  • At 6:25 it sounds like he said Technodrome

  • ....

ahahhahahaaa...im 13 rite now and what the hell happened to these cartoons?

  • I miss the good old days. Back when your shirt sleeve magically turned from red to blue. 0:54

  • @MrTornado532 Haha..good observation !

  • 2:08 "Save a little money for a rainy day" - Looks like Donald Duck finally has something to agree with his uncle Scrooge McDuck.

3:27 - Who did they think was instructing them? Probably their fourth (faux) brother Phooey.

3:35 - Donald accuses them of stealing from their bank. It's their money, they can withdraw it if they want.

5:27 - Donald must have assumed for the worst because they wanted the money so quickly and so badly.

6:23 - Donald's own birthday, ruined by Donald himself.

  • 6:18 XD

  • @CarlyAKACmara Indeed the most cool part of this episode. :D

  • @SpleeMatthijs I just liked his reaction when he reapplied what happened

  • This episode is definite proof that cartoons aren't "just for children". =D

  • You know a few of the episodes of Donald and his nephews are heartbreaking! Because you know that deep down they love each other and have saved each other's lives a few times. But, they played so many cruel jokes on each other before so they're on guard. Both Donald's and his nephews actions were motivated by love. He tried to teach them to save and they wanted to surprise him! How sad this was! Poor Donald! Poor nephews! :'(

  • @ThePaganSun So true, couldn't agree more. Nostalgia :)

  • March 13, I bet that's a Friday.

  • @gameskyjumper Too bad, it was a Sunday. =P

  • ♪ Take my advice do as I say save a little money for a rainy day♪

  • well, that wasnt really a happy birthday if you ask me

  • shit. thats depressing.

  • This really is a good one \o/

    Thanks for uploading =P

  • I have so good memories from this cartoon :D At 4:00 i was scared to death as a kid....

  • One of my first memories of cartoons <3 We still have this VHS but don't know if we have the player :(

  • To punish them for smoking, he... forces the to smoke dozens of cigars at once? What a great uncle.

  • @ChainChompKing If you have watched one episode of King of the Hill, Hank do the same thing. And Bobby actually got addicted. Kind of ridiculous.

  • it's so wrong that i love this so much, im 13!

  • @topgearfan1234567 Doesn't matter how old you are just as long as you enjoy a well made cartoon

  • @topgearfan1234567 But you can enjoy cartoons such as these at any age. These cartoons were meant for general audiences when they were originally released.

  • i have the donald duck magazine of this SHAME ON YOU DONALD!

  • Disney made a special of this cartoon. It was a longer version of this cartoon because after Donald forces his nephews to smoke the cigars, he is greeted by his conscience who tells him to do something nice for his nephews. Then Donald shows his nephews several cartoons on a projector. Does anyone know the name of this special?

  • @smartamateur

You're thinking of "Happy Birthday Donald," which was a "Wonderful World of Disney" episode aired in, I think, 1959. Like several other episodes of that period, it took several older cartoons and bridged them together with new linking footage so as to make them all appear to be one big story. The new linking footage (which here included that "conscience" guy) was pretty well done, but sharp-eyed viewers can still pick up when the older footage ends and the new scenes start.

  • Huey, Dewey and Louie are very nice and cute in this episode, I don´t think I´ve ever seen them being so nice before.

  • When my little brother watched this video, he thought Huey Dewey and Louis were dead at the end. He had heard too much smoking kills you...

  • @Steinbach1984 Well, it's not exactly expressly stated that they're still alive. They're just slumped there...

  • $2.98 for a box of 50? Now THAT'S cheap cigars.

  • @OtterFan25 well, in 1950 you could buy a burger and a coke with a quarter...

  • Donald is such a jerk in this episode

  • Did anyone else hears "That's gay" at 6:17 ?

  • @Schwuntz seems to be, i always have difficulty in understanding what donald said.

  • @Schwuntz oh, i think he said "birthday?" =.=

  • @LuluLolz123 Hard work, came home tired -> sofa

  • lol that was great!! xD

  • what with the ending why was donald not suprised or happy of his birthday

  • @brb1006 It's Because of his CRUEL acts against

his nephews! Think if they're dead!...

I won't as him even on my birthday, instead, i'll cry loud!

  • Talkradar!

  • 2:25 funny

  • great quality, ty for uploading

  • LOL, at 5:34 Donald doesn't waste time to put that cigar back in his nephews mouth.

  • ...XDDDDD donald is such a good parent *sarcasm*

donald: so ya wanna smoke, ehh?

  • donald mean :( and forgot his b-day

  • :) they made great cartoons back then, cartoons with a art value.

  • shame on you donald

  • good episdoe

  • I knew this existed! I was trying to explain this episode to someone once and they thought I'd gone mental

  • Tsk, tsk, tsk, shame on you Donald.

  • @SulliMike241 Unfortunatly they didn't know about smoking :(

  • @TheRollingst0ne Yes, that was one of the downsides of the early 20th Century.

  • @SulliMike241 despicable

  • I love the way he has to blow the dust off his purse and it creaks from lack of use,I have a boss who is like that, lol

  • "Did you get this episode off a Warner Bros VHS by any chance? I used to own it as a kid then obviously it got given away and I miss it! Sadly I can't remember the name of the video but am desperate to own another copy! It had other random WB character-episodes like Donald Duck, Pink Panther, Road Runner & Wil E. Coyote, Tom and Jerry, Pepe Le Pew, Bugs Bunny, etc..

    PS. I rated 5 stars :)"

  • One problem with that, Donald's a Disney character, not a WB character. the only Duck WB has is Daffy.

  • i always remembered this since the first time i saw it as a kis. it kept me from smoking. great video

  • @ectoplasmicentity me too!

  • 5/5 + Fav
