  • You do know the use of netti pots have been shown to not cure or prevent any colds or infections right?

You Do know the use of netti pots have actually been shown to cause infections right?

  • @paintballingguy Thry make me feel better when I have a sinus infection. Two sires to every nostril.

  • @shugemery Placebo is a wonderful effect. That's why they always test claims of effectiveness against them. If the results are no greater than placebo, you have zero effectiveness.

The placebo effect is great at making you feel better, kind of like your mom kissing your booboo when you're a kid :) But it does nothing to actually address the problem.

I like your vids man, you do a great job and should have way more views!

  • @paintballingguy You have to use the right water with them. It's in the instructions.

  • @kinetsudragon I'm sure it is. But the facts are the scientific peer reviewed tests show it doesn't actually do anything to prevent or treat infections, flu's or colds. It does show that it can cause infections.

If it makes you feel better (purely psychological), go ahead and do it. But please educate yourself before you go treating yourself. You may end up doing more harm than good.

  • gr8 vid i love outdoors too e en in winter. i've made alcohol stove fr cat food can too but how do u put pot stand in/on it? ty karen

  • @cougarbahia With a ring of double holes you can usually put your pot right on it. the flames should come out the holes. Hardware cloth also works well to make a stand...

    Thankee.

  • get some Anise and suck it up your nose, best thing ever to clean out any snot when u have a cold.

  • @Axbent Sounds fun. Licorice nostril douche. Whooooo

  • -17F is -27Celsius.

  • COLDEST IV CAMPED IS -16C IN UK MOUNTAINS in a tent after falling through ice and having to cut trip short but all good as had gear incase i got wet and cold. so you work in f or c in temp?

  • @JEDIHAMSTER101 In F..... glad you survived.

  • @JEDIHAMSTER101 Glad u made it, and obviously ure a smart person who knows to prepare! -16c can't be common in the UK, was it in Scotland?

  • @Axbent thanks, was in the welsh mountains and was a record low for that area. i think any one going out should be able to look after themselves but they dont and more people die in the British mountains than in the alps because they arnt given the respect they need

  • :) That made my evening!

  • @lazgreen72 Jag är så glad. Tack

  • @shugemery Jag är choklad!

  • Does your wife think you are crazy?? hahahahaha

  • @divrnr We both abhor normal))))))! Put crazy on the front porch for all to see.

  • I tried that noes-pod-thingy, Thought I was gona drowned ! Your a better man than I Shug !

  • @siggsterloo They sure do clear me out though!

  • @NecessaryKnowledge I love the suck back and hack. Makes my eyes water and find it thrilling!

  • @NecessaryKnowledge Look at REI or Eastern Mountain Sports or Mountain Hardware or Mon-Bell...they usually give good specs on their sites. Just gotta go for one sooner or later. That is why I have surplus gear)))

  • Well, at least you used a softer solution to clean your head. My Momma always just put salt in mine and said,"GGo to it boy."

  • @JSD3530 I like your Mamma....old school!

  • Best videos on the net!! You never fail to entertain. Netti pot….uh, that’s a first. I like to drive long nails into my nasal cavities when I have a wee cold. Lmao!!!!!

  • @pornczarr Nails nested in Nostril....Natty!

  • you may have the most traumatic netti pot action on youtube shug! keep up the good work LOL

  • @VAbackpacker I do love neti drama....

  • Shug, your suppose to keep your mouth open when using the netti pot. Then you don't have water going down your airway. HMMMM.

  • @kyletango What fun is that))))! Gagging rules.

  • im gonna try that nasal cleaner wooo buddy

  • @MrDarrellSlover It is a wee thrill.

  • "Coffee from the hammock makes me a little nervous...hmm" I don't know if you've used that one, I just couldn't resist it

  • @occersay96 They done a cut me loose from the hammock.....

  • Try afrin nasal spray shug. It works wonders, and it's far less traumatic.

  • @abdieltheservant I has a nasal spray addiction...seriously, I can't use it.

  • i like your slingblade impression when you boil that water

  • @budensity I am a bit SB obsessed....

  • @shugemery major props man i should have watched this befor i tried hammocking over winter i froze my ass off half the night grabing hot stones by the fire and cuddling up with em my fire eventuly went out and i couldnt get it relit so i just buried it and slep on the ground over the fire pit the warmest night ever outside had to keep rolling over i estemate it was at least 85-90 degeress in my bag

    but hammocks all the way

  • Shug, my trials tell me you should put on some vapor barriers like a wind shirt and wind pants over your first or second base layers. This will prevent your down layers from collecting moisture (jacket, vest, bag) over a few nights. Use nitrile (medical gloves to do the same for your hands and grocery bags for your feet. This has worked amazingly well for me down to 0F. Peace, love, and coffee crisp! All secure in sector - my living room....

  • @steffler69 Used a wind shirt often. I am hit and miss with VP. Too clammy for me. My winter trips are only usually 2 to 3 days.

    Coffee Crisps))))))) m-m-m-m-m-m

  • hey man, some goggle will freeze proof your eyes lol! try it out they make some real comfy ones for those ski people

  • @modtwenty Actually my eyes are usually just fine. I just pull the hood good and low when snoozing.

    Thanks for that suggestion.

  • @shugemery hey anything I can suggest for you is just a drop in the bucket compared to all the good hammock tips you got on you tube. When I get my new system done I will give you the details, its similar to the "super shelter". I am very much trying to resist carrying an underquilt or a pod. Also on the neti pot subject! A product called alkolol, not sure on spelling but thats close to it, it is a medicated mix you put in the neti pot instead of the salt packets, kind of like a menthol, intense

  • You need to copywrite "breakfast from the hammock"

  • @steffler69 I do don't I....!

  • Shug that neti pot stuff was killing me ,that 's some funny ...poo hang loose and keep having fun .good laugh really thanks

  • me happy:D great vid, thanks for sharing. What can i say:) the most important thing.. HUMOR ON:D Greetings from Poland

  • @w0r10ck Thanks and all

  • What "tent" or tarp is that?

  • @CDoggsRandoms Warbonnet Big MambaJamba.

  • what headlamp is that?

  • @keikepono111 Petzl Tikka XP

  • OMG shug you rock

  • @JPsaxMIA My wife throws me out of the house on a regular basis!!!

  • @shugemery thank god there are two trees 13-16 feet apart in your backyard.

the downside is you got kicked out in -17 winter

IN THE NAME OF HAMMOCKS!! and netti pots

  • That ending is the funniest stuff I've seen in a while!

  • @pcjsleader and I could breathe!!! Thanks.

  • lol you looked so "hannibal lector" with your mask and light.

  • @jarhiker Thank you Agent Starling.......

  • Thanks Shug, and thanks to you and Griz, I'm now a hammock camper after decades of sleeping on the ground. Wow, these things are comfortable and there seems to be endless room for innovation, what fun. More fun than a box of alcohol stoves...

  • @musiccitybluesguy Whooooo Buddy1

  • Mr. Shug, You are not just quite right - - - in the head or your mental state. Humorous to the extreme. Thanks.

  • @KaytShelg It is fun in my head.....for me!

  • Cool video as usual Shug. Pod? Is that a special item, like the one at Speer Hammocks, or are you running the hammock through a sleeping bag? Just tried my first hammock camping trip, 4 days up on the Cumberland Plateau. What a great system for rain camping. Doc says the pneumonia will be gone when I get thru theses antibiotics, feeling better after just a few days. Funny, I felt warm when I was sleeping.

  • @musiccitybluesguy It is just a 20º sleeping bag. Need a long zipper though. I need some bed rest as well.....

    Be well.

  • I've seen the Netti Pot advertised but never have had the pleasure of seeing it used before!

  • @level2789 The pleasure was all mine and my nostrils,

  • Holy Crap! Did you say "where-with-all"?

  • @FatDaddy4Fun Did not know I knew the term "where-with-all".

  • P.S. I skipped the Netti pot part - it didn't sound very appealing! LOL

  • I really like those down sleeves - what a great idea! Really versatile piece of gear. When I'm cross-country skiing, I like to wear a down vest but when I stop, it gets cold. I could have a pair of those in my pack and when I stop for a break, slip them on and I'll be good to go. I, too, like that Fancee Feest stove (I guess they have to spell it that way because of copyright laws). Nice little stove. I love your videos, Shug! They're so much fun! Thanks so much!

  • @earlymusicus I do so love those sleeves!!!!

  • Netti Pot--fun for the whole family. Keep it up Shuge, this stuff gets me through the day.

  • @snappydog357 Ten-Four!!!!

  • @mrjason5846 Lay it on thick and be warm..... my motto.

  • Shug, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! Really there is something wrong with you. All good, love your videos.

  • @dovetailwoodwork Glad ya' got a giggle!

  • hahahahaha, reminded me of Jonny Knoxville, classic.

  • ROFLMAO!!!! I thought I was the only other fool that used a netti pot, they're fantastic. When you did the full sinus flush thru your mouth I almost pissed myself laughing. Shug you're are hilarious!!!

  • @tdimaggio Netti pots rule the nostrils!

  • OMG Im peeing me self here, holly crap Shug that was not only funny that took some, well you know, jewels. Ha. Hey take a look at my latest vid and have a look at a few ideas I made. Let me know what ya think.

  • I never knew you had Dry Snow (1.11) there in minn...that is so awesome snow you an play in it ,have snow ball fights and you wont get wet,,,,,Awesome. • Dang, shug! I use a netti pot almost everyday! too funny.

  • @TheAmishking I love nostril fun.... keeps ya' flushed.

  • WTHECK I was totally not prepared for that ending. LOL

  • @n2tech07 Heed the Warning!!!!! Thanks...

  • Great little stove, i really should try and make one myself.

  • @fantasticmrfoxful It truly impressed me.......

  • ha ha ha pure comedy genius. thanks for the pod reviews, im gonna give it a try at the weekend. stay cool bro.

  • @matthewmartin1970 Give it a go .... I am really glad I finally did.

  • LMAO!!!! Shug LAUGH!!!! I love ya Blue Genie Bottle it Really dose the Trick on Head renovations Shug it really clears out the Old head channels... that was one of the funiest thing I've seen in jonks!!!! I love ya settup Shugs real smooth mate! Rod

  • @TheWaggaBloke A Cheery Thankee Rod...

  • I put the hammock up in the winter. My backside gets cold. I don't like that at all. Shug your just hardcore!

  • @andrewsheldonreeves Have you tried some pads in there ...two taped together in real cold weather does good. Have fun in the woods!

  • Shug,

No matter how many times I get YouTube overload and get to that point where I don't feel I could watch one more video.....I always find myself watching your latest posting and getting a good laugh, with some great info to boot. Thanks!!

  • @OldDogsCanLearn A humble thankee. Seriously.

  • Gotta love good ole Minnesota

  • @maverickhockey48 There ya' go ya' betcha then there then!

  • I laughed so hard when you did the neti pot. Good stuff man. Cough barfing way to go.

  • wow

  • @robertmccallum1 I know!

  • @ChannelTheron Thanks for the netti nod!

  • Shug i laughed out loud at the Neti scene! i always look forward to watching your videos . i'm frequently up to similar antics around my house, or should i say my gem of a husband is always putting up with my antics around the house :) i'm trying to get out tonight for a mere 9 degree backyard-bivy here in PA.

    all the best, donna

  • @danderson8127 I like that the female gender acts the doof ....and will admit it!

    Have fun testing.

  • I ordered 75 Netti Pots a while back for my ER. Hand 'em out readily. By the way, I reckon there's something wrong with your sinuses. Might wanna get a CT scan if you're having problems. When I use it the water pours out the other nostril.

  • @medic2807 Ahhhh.... It does come out my other nostril. I just finished electro-shock ...no moola for a CT!

  • Netti Pot! Damn...that has to be the funniest thing I have seen for a long time. You had me rolling! Thanks for the Sunday morning inspiration! ~ Peace

  • @zoodidwa Glad to add to a Sunday.

  • I must admit I gagged at the nostral cleaning. Way to ruin my breadfast. :(

  • -17 = I would build a ground shelter and stack lots of underbrush on the sides. Then I would light a fire.

  • @andrewsheldonreeves That would work for certain. I just like dangling!

  • Wow-wee! I can't beleive there is someone else around who still remembers Lost in Space!

  • @OleRangerBob Billy Mummy was my idol. and he was a red-head. But so was Danny Partridge.

  • I just starting using the netti pot. I laughed more than anything....."I always feel a little cheap afterwards." Now that's funny!!! Bigred72

  • @stupidusername72 I do .... I always do feel a wee cheap.

  • SHUG!! The Netti pot moment was priceless. First time I ever used one was on an elderly lady in a nursing home. She didn't care for it much, and so I bought one for myself to figure out just how bad it was. Learned a lot about myself that day...

  • @jdubbery I am about to go and rinse now...... Whoooooo ....shameful.

  • Hey Shug; I tell ya I must be a redneck cause all these people talking about the netti pod and I have never seen one, Great instructional vid as always, I give you a big shout out you have taught me how to hang with comfort from what to bring, to what to wear, I thank you and my son thanks you also tiredhiker aka(Shane)

  • @fistratedfisher So there is some value to my fun! cool.

  • i got the same netti pot and same colour too + the sachets it came with

(goes to check if mine is still there !)

  • @sweetypie000 I want an orange one.

  • @shugemery i wanted an orange sportsman LE from black rock but they all sold out !

sometimes we can't have what we want (like a mamajamba made in the usa lmao)

    :)

  • P.S> I particularly enjoy the idea posted below of the colonic. That would be like a netti pot on steroids, and although there are plenty of videos out there of colonics (usually on websites favored by college fraternities), it'd be educational to have you do one in the piney woods with specific instruction on how to warm water with MiniBull and how now to get the effluent discharge all over the downy pod goodness or the JRB sleeves.

    Discuss.

  • @coolkayaker1 Haaaaa. No one says effluent enough for me.

  • Idea for future video: -27F (to beat your old record), boil water in Frisky Feast, allow to cool slightly before adding to netti pot, then douche nostrils in the piney woods.

  • @coolkayaker1 Oh yeah!!!!

  • Shug! Brother! You must have some mighty good water ! Even the docs say not to use anything nut distilled water with the pot. I've tried the tap water here and it burns like crazy. Cheers man. Love the videos.

  • @Techsan75 I know I should ..our water is good. And I am just lazy

  • The netti pot was classic. I love using mine when I have sinus problems. Warning Will Robinson!!!

  • @madogblue Oh ... Dr. Smith!

  • So that netti pot work pretty good at cleaning out your nose and junk? Do you notice if it prevents the junk from coming back sooner?

  • @jeffreyrenglish For sure if you do it on a regular basis.

  • the black mumba!!!!

  • Pmsl that was a classic!

  • @Nippi6290 Thanks. Classic .... I like that.

  • Netti Pots are super, but what the heck were you doing the suck and spit? Yuck!

  • @REXMARX003 Ultimate Netti

  • coolmax underwear= "wear-with-all"

  • I'm a big fan Shug! I laughed my A$@ off watching the netti pot action!! Please keep up the highly entertaining and informative videos.

    whoooooooooooooo buddy!!!!!!

  • @the1biehl Cheers! You can rest assured I will...

  • only thing good about squeeky snow, is no skeeters

  • @TribTrekker Yessir ... but a lot of rabbits!

  • lol.funny, man i see where your comin from there, but hanging in the hammock i guess is the spa for us guys(n some gals i suppose)...think will wait til it gets a few degrees more before venturing back out though.great vid buddy

  • cool vid sean, but your mad -17?wtf,lol,hey,was your wife ,in doors,in bed warm with the heating on and your outside in the freezing cold...man your funny, whats she say about you outdoor lifestyle or has she gone past the point of trying to understand? do you ever take her expedin with you?i am due to take mine with me soon...good choice bad choice remains to be seen

  • @gandelff999 She likes me gone for brief periods. She used to camp but likes spa resorts better!

  • LOLyah those are great for decloging your nose I use it all the time ...ever do one and like 10 min later bunch of water comes gushing out your nose ..That's awesome when you have company over .Anyway I'm glad your pod works and glad you didn't freeze an eyeball ..-21 here in the east coast of don't think I'm gonna go out right yet waiting for some more gear ...hopefully I will have a underuilt soon.

  • @brutallindigo I have had the "late drip" .... seen disgust in the face of witnesses.

  • With all those layers you would need a head start to Pee

  • @tfisher808 'Tis sooo true. No lolly-gagging.

  • Oh the tears coming from me face lol stomach ache followed by the erg to try it!!!

Great fun shug, nice to know the system is working for you.

    mike

  • @wall2rockclimber To make you weep is my pleasure!!!!!

Is working well .... I like it.

  • Thanks for the video. I wish you made about 5 a week.

  • Great video. Dont want to see a colonic from you. ; /

  • @spence0324 Don't give me ideas....! :-o

  • and i'd like to see you do a video on your neos boots!!

  • @gcstorm1 I will. They weigh about 24 ounces each.

  • thanks for the medical lesson.

  • How warm does it get in the summer where you live?

  • @chitlinray Typically ....mid 90s on our hottest days. Our summer is short though,

  • another nice video... up till the netti pot that was funny.

  • @FixedByDoc I gag .... you gag!

  • I've been doing netti pots for a while now, and I never thought to suck the water up as you did. That was hilarious!!

  • @littlegreenwon Better flushing and hard-core!

  • @assym2006 That is a lot of 2s....... I am preparing for the Ice Age.

  • Never before has a man trying to drown himself been so funny!!! Loved it Shug. Another great production from the master hangman.....LOL
