Ivanovic didnt play bad. Sharapova also beat Henin in the quarter finals and Jankovic,who beat Serena, in the semi finals. THey couldn't push Maria to a tough match. But Ivanovic pushed Sharapova in to a tough match but she didnt grab a set, which I think she could. Overall it was a great match and All credit to Maria, who won the tournament without dropping a set!

Ana's forehand may be naturally better, but Maria's forehand packs more spin, firepower and makes better angles. Particularly the whip forehand. If you've noticed, if Maria decides to hit to Ana's forehand with her own forehand, she uses her whip technique to punish the ball.

Sharapova has a Graf-like mentality. She's cold and calculating and while a bit emotional, she keeps it well in check unlike other players. i.e. Ivanovic. Hitting to Ana's stronger side is very, very intimidating to Ana.

Well I mean there are so many girls playing the power game that they will not change it in order to beat a Sharapova or a Williams because they want to get better at their game, and that's the game they have chosen to play and that has gotten them to the pro level. So, the people that are under sharapova's power and the williams are out of luck because changing your style late in your career will be a VERY difficult ask. I just can't wait until Sharapova returns to form.

Clijsters a sort of all-rounder. She can counterpunch and play consistently, move well, and she can also move forward and attack given the opportunity. Her greatest weakness is her mental game, She won the US Open because she didn't have any expectations of herself, and therefore everything was a bonus. However, since she won the US Open, shes been considered a real threat to grandslams by herself and the media, and subsequently has caved under the Pressure (eg, 6-0 6-1 loss to Petrova)

you cannot win from Sharapova trying to overpower her, unless you're called Williams. It takes Clijsters' athleticism and anticipation or Henin's class & variation to beat her. All those girls out there are playing the same game, that's why they couldn't be dominant in 2009, because the Williams sisters are still the best in the power department. They should try something different, like Henin or Clijsters. Radwanska & Oudin are the only young players to mix it up a bit.

of course Clijsters isn't the player who uses the most variation. But she's certainly in the top 10 of player who mix it up. She doesn't just "bash the ball". Every shot is well thought, she uses short angles; throws in a drop shot, uses the slice, plays a higher topspin ball. If you talk about real ball-bashers, I would think of Sharapova, Ivanovic, azarenka, ... So Clijsters is overrated? Two slams, two times wta-tour champion, 36 titles, and a fabulous comeback, I consider that as well-earned

Ivanovic only won against Sharapova when she was injured. But when she' healthy, she just kept on losing.
