Why are airlines legally aloud to overbook even by one person? What difference does it make to them, if the person who bought a ticket does not fly? They have received their money already and should only offer the seats to people who want to take that flight, if someone does not show up on the day...
You can always connect in Charlotte on US Airways or Atlanta on Delta. Both have many more flights to Fort Lauderdale than do American and United from Chicago. Plus Delta uses bigger planes.
I don't feel bad for any of these people. They could have flown delta or another airline but most likely chose southwest because it was cheaper. You get what you pay for
@006969123 Totally agree! Went to NYC once from Detroit on Spirit Airlines and it was very cheap but got on and my seat was overbooked! Someone was assigned the same seat as me! Luckily a whole row was still available but the without that row I would've had to wait until later that afternoon! About 12 hours later! Now I am a frequent flyer on Delta and US Airways as they definitely offer better service and do not overbook seats without a back up plan!
1:44 if you are going on a cruise go the day before,2:08 it's called a cell phone & it's not the Airline's fault your FIL doesn't have one, 2:44 that COW is probably more worried about getting a donut than anything, 3:35 not only does that Jew had a bad toupee his bitch wife thinks she's better than others so typical, 4:54 you have high BP because your are OBESE, If you are going on a Cruise ALWAYS go the day before & get trip Insurance, here endeth the lesson,
I've been overbooked by 12 when i used American Airlines ended up on standby for 14 hours so i went with united airlines to get on holiday i lost 2 days and it's wrong overbooking their flights. my mum booked use 11 months in advanced longer thean anyone but some women who booked that day got on. Bitch
As awful as overbooking by 53 people is, I highly doubt the ticket agents conceived an evil plan to destroy some peoples holidays, so don't take it out on them. There is never a reason to yell at someone in these situations.
I'm amazed at how freely the company is willing to allow paying customers to get a raw deal...being oversold by 50+ seats...that's someone's fault and Southwest needs to take responsibility, and reimburse everything that people loose including their cruise...or find other airlines....Bite the bullet...they messed up big time and it's going to cost them....and they are willing to loose customers and customer satisfaction because of "policy".
Those poor agents!!! Its really fucked up how the sales deptartment allowed the aircraft to be extremely oversold. I feel so bad for those ticket agents, and it never ceases to amaze me how disgusting and ugly people get at the airport. It's like common sense and rationality go right out the door!
Overbooked by FIFTY THREE is outrageous. Add to that the metal fatigue of all the SW planes that have now been classified as CRACKS incl the fuselage and you really need to find another airline.
Jesus...MDW - IND - MDW - TPA ?! And just because they wanted to go to F. Lauderdale and the flight was overbooked by 53 passengers?! no wonder why people freak out...
53 people? That's an absolute joke to customers. If I was one of the customers flying to get on the Miami cruise I'd be claiming all the money I would've lost from Southwest too.
@anthonyb2103 I have no sympathy for the cruise people. You do not fly to your departure port on the day the cruise departs. That's just begging for trouble. All it takes is one big storm at a major hub and you lose your cruise.
I fly space available as an employee dependent on a legacy carrier, and flights get oversold all the time every day. I've seen load factors on flights being oversold by as much as 12 for high-traffic routes and transcon routes. But 53??????? Even I'm stunned by that.
overbooking by 53 was obviously a reservation error. When it's this type of error, those passengers should have been given tickets on other airlines. I work for an airline and that's what we would have done.
you want a stress free flight , keep your feet on the ground , and you wont get aboused by TSA and no radation, take the good ol Train , AM TRACK love the rails , no hassle way of getting to point A to point B i get free tickets from my mom , but id rather take AM TRACK GO RAILs
i never wanted to fly, after seeing this show, i never will.. theres a lot of people on this show id love to slap silly ! they treat ppl so bad and the way they operate is rediculouus
True, SW overbooked too much here, and shouldn't do that, but generally even when people have caused themselves to miss a flight, still try to blame the airline for it. For what I've seen of this show so far, I'd say the passengers have been more in the wrong then SW.
Overbooked by 53? Holy crap! They nornally only overbook by 5-10 and there's always a 10% non-show factor. Somebody in Reservations messed up. SWA still rocks!
Normally I'm in agreement with the airline because, for the most part, people are morons. But in this case, I'm with the passengers; overbooking by 53 people is ridiculous. That's the beauty of WestJet here in Canada...they NEVER overbook.
what i dont understand is that they should have cruise members have prioity because what are the odds of people to catch a boat cruise that costs thousands of dollars cancelling last minute. the cruise ship and the airlines should have an understanding to let them hAVE PRIORITY. A bookib agent must have messed up and overbooked unintentionally, but i guess they wont be able to trace that back to fire his/her ass.
@24Scotian Why should they get priority over any other customer. What about the (hyhpothetical) friend trying to get home to catch his best friends funeral?
@IanSaysWhat Its their "insurance policy" so to speak. Airlines take it as a given that some people will cancel flights at the last minute or simply not make the flight, for whatever reason. By overbooking, they essentially ensure that if people don't show up, they will still be able to take on a full flight. However, overbooking by 53 is excessive.
The airlines treat passengers like total shit, no customer service or appreciation, started going downhill decades ago and has gotten worse ever since.
ok...southwest seriously messed up on the 50+...that's just horrendous...but that woman, four-eyed moron needs to just shut up...you are using SOMEONE ELSES information...and you expect southwest to just take that...i suppose then she shouldn't find it problematic if someone used HER cc#...effing moron.
These poor employees. The problem with 'cheapie' airlines (Southwest, JetBlue, easyjet) is that most of the travelers are vacationers not used the NORMAL travails of air travel. Want to not get bumped? Get there early. Want to not lose your luggage? Never check it. And if something does happen, deal with it like an adult with compassion for the employees. S**t happens. If this is really the worst experience of these people's lives... lucky people.
Overbooking by 53 is irresponsible. I was booted from a flight overbooked by 6 and thought that was outrageous; I would have been furious if a flight I booked months ago was overbooked by over 50 people.
When I took a flight to Fort Lauderdale from Philadelphia, I had to wait like an hour and a half for my flight to come because of go arounds and all of that procedures and for some reason I had to wait another 45 minutes with 80 pounds of luggage of my back, my little brother in my hand, my arents just waiting, irritated. Then, FINALLY, we got on the plane. Smooth and long flight but very comfortable. These managers for SouthWest are very luck that I have lots and lots of patience! very Lucky!
I like how you say there are good and bad everywhere, and then lump all Americans together. One bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch - or should I assume by your comment that all Australians are prejudiced?
i dont wanna fly southwest after watching thiis show it looks like it has to many problems. and they found holes in a bunch of plones at southwest a few days ago
