Have you thought about using the lumberjack mod? It allows you to cut the bottom block of a tree (With an axe) and have the rest just fall down, your axe will acknowledge all blocks broken and take away the durability it should but it does saves a lot of time and makes collecting a lot of wood a breeze.

I'd also like to see a village reach it's max growth :) I've never seen it done before :P

@XprinceX1000 did you install modloader? and if it still doesnt work, make a file called mods in .minecraft then place the entire Mod file in their nut first delete all the old files of the mod out of the minecraft.jar
