I thought the GTR was Japanese. Most American performance cars use a standard gearbox, ZR1, Ford GT and Dodge Viper all use a manual gearbox. Most European super cars Lamborghini, Ferrari use automatic/paddle shifter gearboxes. So i guess you're calling the Europeans lazy?
its not the numbers that impress me so much. it baffles me how that car achieves numbers like that. i mean thats an under 500 horsepower v6 in a car thats about 2 TONS, and costs only around 70,000 dollars. are you serious? somehow it hits 60 in 3.2 SECONDS? and pulls over 1 g in the skidpad? and ran a 7:29 at the nurburgring? and gets through a slalom course at like 74 mph? that is simply a feat of incredible engineering.

@Supergungun this car isn't a ricer. there aren't any crazy decals or body ktis, and it's fast. ricers are slow cars that have huge spoilers and bodykits for "needed" downforce.

I don't think so, and it's not all about the brand of car-any car on planet Earth can be turned into a ricer if you have the parts. Model year GTR's and ones previously sold are under recall for VDC re-programming (tuned from 4,500 RPM on launch to 2,000) which will nullify the existing policy on voided transmissions, however the transaxle is still not affected under this warranty and if damaged while using launch control it will come at full cost to the customer.
@LoudDrumGuy Nice job misspelling Porsche twice. I like the GTR, but why hate on Porsche? At least their transmissions don't go out after using it for what it's meant to be used for. I'd say a slightly used GT3 or GT2 > GTR. I still like the GTR though, one of my fav. cars.

I haven't done much research on the GTR recently but if they fixed the problem they had with the transmission and made it so using launch control doesn't void the warranty, I'd take it over a Porsche.

If it did those 200m extra, it would likely be closer to yet still 4 seconds faster. The Porsche looks better and if you take the amount of pussy it gets you into account... @gigabyt3r according to nissan, the launch control feature was ment to get you out of a situation if your stuck. It actually is very hard on the tranny. Imagine revving to 4500 RPM.. and then going into gear.
@fusionstar916 I think that is why they "upgraded" the launch control with a reprogramming so it is not as hard on the transmission. I hear the transmissions cost around $30,000 to replace.
@LoudDrumGuy You would be correct sir, we just had a 2009 GTR being serviced at our shop this week after the customer repeatedly used the launch control feature and destroyed the original transmission, although the transaxle was still in perfect shape. Shipped from Japan it was approximately $30,000 CDN. It was quite a show to watch it being replaced, every service mechanic stood around and watched since it's a rare occurrence.

I don't think so, and it's not all about the brand of car-any car on planet Earth can be turned into a ricer if you have the parts. A mustang can be riced out with a massive bodykit and huge wing and have all these crazy decals. Meanwhile, the Nissan GTR is a supercar, and is faster than a lot of cars that cost 2-4 times as much. The spoiler isn't rice too as it is small.

@Supergungun yeah, if you put a JDM bodykit and a JDM spoiler and put decals saying "HDS" and "GReddy" on you Cadillac. but if the cadillac has a 500 hp engine, coilovers and ddrag tires and still has those bodyktis and spoilers, it isn't a ricer. its a drag car with a really stupidly designed exterior. and the GTR is a supercar, not a ricer.

@Supergungun well can't you read the comment properly? your 1964 cadillac will only have a supidly designed exterior if its really fast and HAS A JDM BODY AND JDM SPOILER. learn to read man, if its stock inside out then its not stupid. and what rice burner? i don't see the gtr having a 0-60 time of 10 seconds, crazy vinyls and a huge spoiler with a JDM bodykit. even if the GTR is stock inside out, the body is very slippery and aerodynamic, so its a VERY WELL designed exterior.

Model year GTR's and ones previously sold are under recall for VDC re-programming (tuned from 4,500 RPM on launch to 2,000) which will nullify the existing policy on voided transmissions, however the transaxle is still not affected under this warranty and if damaged while using launch control it will come at full cost to the customer.

My opinions are based more on the perception people have of them. If the purchase price of a GT-R was near that of a Porsche, the value and quality increase would, in my opinion create a GT-R that a Porsche could never hope to catch. As it is, I still feel the GT-R is an equal, if not better car in most ways as compared to any Porsche.

@LoudDrumGuy That's true. If I had to choose a car for under $100k new it'd definitely be a GTR, incredible value for the price. I haven't done much research on the GTR recently but if they fixed the problem they had with the transmission and made it so using launch control doesn't void the warranty, I'd take it over a Porsche.

If it did those 200m extra, it would likely be closer to yet still 4 seconds faster. The Porsche looks better and if you take the amount of pussy it gets you into account... And the fact it has a higher resell value.

@gigabyt3r according to nissan, the launch control feature was ment to get you out of a situation if your stuck. It actually is very hard on the tranny. Imagine revving to 4500 RPM.. and then going into gear.

@LoudDrumGuy You would be correct sir, we just had a 2009 GTR being serviced at our shop this week after the customer repeatedly used the launch control feature and destroyed the original transmission, although the transaxle was still in perfect shape. Shipped from Japan it was approximately $30,000 CDN. It was quite a show to watch it being replaced, every service mechanic stood around and watched since it's a rare occurrence.
