I can understand why they fired him if this is the type of immaturity he might have displayed on the job. Not only did he destroy a lot of equipment (that would be covered by insurance), but he thoughtlessly put his former co-workers out of work, as you generally don't get paid in this line of work unless you work. Happy with your employer or not, it's a matter of respect for others and this person obviously had none. And probably not for himself, either.
