what are you guys talking about? this is my first time trying this chord and i got it perfect in ten seconds? not trying to brag or anything, but it cant be as hard as you guys are making it out to be.
Remember to keep the joints of your finger bent when you press the string. And most importantly, PRESS HARD. You can't just press half way man, go all the way! It's gonna hurt at first but that's why you need to be patient.
Besides not pressing hard enough, I think your index finger might touch the bottom string as well, making it out of tune. Be careful and leave the bottom string open while playing this chord.
I'm not a guitar expert but I think it doesn't matter, so just go with what's comfortable for you. In fact I think it shouldn't be in the center anyways.
well, your index finger doesn't have to be in the exact center as long as it does not touch the edge between frets. As for this chord, I would worry more about the index finger touching the bottom string (high E string).
Press wherever that's within the fret and try to leave the bottom string open and you'll do fine. Practice!!
I know :) took me like a month or so to get the perfect sound for this chord. Now the tip of my finger is all hardened with calluses, you will get them too very soon, my friend :))
Try playing it with the right form (there's probably a better way to put it)Your palm shouldn't be touching the strings. In this video the thumb is on top of the fretboard - because the guy is tall. But normally the thumb should stay in the middle of the backside of the guitar. Your wrist should be kept as horizontal as it can be.

C isn't as bad a B minor.. Not only is it painful, it's annoying in a cut-the-head-off-your-toothbrush sort of way..
