Here in Europe things like prostitution and affairs are often considered forgivable missteps, especially when someone has a proven track record in their job. Why did AIG pay money to other financial institutions? Because THEY OWED THEM MONEY! The reason why we bailed out these banks in the first place was because they were "too big to fail." Overall it seems like he was 'on the right side', which is great, but to me that isn't proof he has pure intentions or is fighting for the underdog. Maybe fighting for the underdog just happened to coincide with his own motives or those of his buddies.

I know what you mean although it's definitely an American cultural thing. Here in Europe things like prostitution and affairs are often considered forgivable missteps, especially when someone has a proven track record in their job. I think we don't associate mistakes in ones private life with incompetence at the job as much. The same way I wouldn't necessarily mistrust a friend because he cheated on a girl.
