@xox102 i think higher notes sound better.. but doesnt mean your not a true singer if you cant sing cos some people have base or baritone voices and sound good! ... i got a baritone voice and i hate it.. i wish i was tenor, i think it sounds better D:
When i sing in falsetto i get a leaky discharge from my eyes and ears,it smells a bit like toe cheese. My question is are there any creams for this? and will it clear up with pratice ;)
My God Brett!!!!!. You must stop telling tales about how the voice works. What you are doing, is not what you´re say your doing. You´re making a jam out of it. People will be confused when you´re not distinguishing between registers/and mix of them and the placement of the vocals you´re using. I hope you good soldiers of singing go hunting somewhere else.
@JameSackey If you are going to change the placement of the sound, continue using your diaphram and breath to support throughout the transition. You may not really be going from head to chest but from head to throat instead..if your throat/larynx is relaxed the whole time, this shouldnt happen. must stay relaxed! but push the diaphram.
Can I just say you are fucking awesome. I can't sing, never could, but I always wished I could at least not sound AWFUL. I always got stuck in my chest and couldn't figure out the concept of getting out of my chest and into something higher. Thank you for offering these instructions, now I can try to do this and maybe I'll learn to not sound like a frog when I sing all the time!
Thanks man! You really helped! Even though half the time you sounded like a drunk/stoned man making love to a pencil sharpener. . . 0:25 "Ha. . ." 0:43 "Lol!" 1:10 "Lol. . ." 1:21 "ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!!"
@LostShadow901 Chest voice is the voice you use to speak in. Rarely do people talk in head voice. They call it chest voice because it vibrates in your chest cavity and uses your mouth as a resonator, or a mechanism to make sound off of. Head voice, like its name, resonates in the head.
@truerainbows i can sing in both but when i switch into my head voice i have a defined break in my voice which i can't get rid of. and my head voice is weak... do you have a ny tips on how to sing powefully in you head voice~??
@sophie96299 sorry, i don't know xP it just comes to me naturally that i sing with that. it usually sounds airy but you have to project it somehow to make it louder.
Ya Lavizzle, Brett is cool .... too bad he looks like he's been living in a card board box for about 10 years. I guess he's appealing to all of you loser kids..
@singkay3 The 'mix' means mixing your chest voice and your head voice. While head voice's resonance is above your mouth area (don't know how to explain properly) and chest voice's resonance is when you naturally say 'ahh'. So to hit high notes, the best way is to 'mix' chest voice and head voice. This video shows how to connect and find your mix voice easily once you done enough exercise
This convo has been going on for ever so this is gonna be my last post on it...but listen carefully when you listen to the vids and cds because they explain alot and an understanding of the techniques is key its more important than getting the exercises exactly right when you are starting...mostly because you will know its not exactly right....Good Luck to you in getting the most out of singing
Ok brett, guys, anyone. I have been singing for about 3 months now, and I think I am stuck in chest voice. I sing up and up until I hit a wall, and I am still learning, I can't do falsetto's yet, nor whistle's. But I always feel it in my chest, I never feel it in my head.....help? I am a bass/baritone. I can sing josh turner but not that low, and shinedown , but not quite that high.
@nfarnham2008 i had the same problem, that is because you are not using your resonators correctly, you have to exercise every day, remember that is not enought just to sing, you have to do escales, and stop singing like you are doing right now, you have to learn again, in the correct form... good luck.... and remember, try to get hight notes , you dont have to push...just relax
@ivaniman Resonators? ...>.< I'm not huge on knowing what is what, but I will try to just relax, and start quieter, and over time increase my volume. I am working on my scales and everything. Stop singing like I am right now? Gah...even though it is my chest voice? Also, my tonsils I think are a big problem, I still have them and think they interfere, working on getting them out.
@nfarnham2008 its not your tonsils sir I would guess you are probably pulling up watch more manning vids...like all of them that have to do with technique
@nfarnham2008 pulling up chest voice mean there is too much resonance in your chest and not enough in your head. Id say that if you are serious about being a singer Def get the home course...BUT....follow it or it wont help you...and keep watching the vids on here again and again and you will learn an awful lot about your voice...and eventually probably be able to tell which exercises you need when your voice isnt quite right ....like after being sick.
@ThereGoesEveryone yeah I have the Brett manning singing success, I have the audio files and the booklet, with all the diagrams and such. I'm totally lost in some things, but i will learn by watching I guess. Thanks and I will eventually post a video on here, just of me singing to see what criticism I can get.
WHAT A BIG IDIOT THIS ROBERT LUNTE GUY IS!!! HE'S ALWAYS TALKING OUT OF HIS ASS AND SO FULL OF HIMSELF!!! . If I place one hand on the top of my head, and the other on my chest and then start to sing... if I can hear vibrations in BOTH registers simultaneously, does that mean Im "in the mix?" I know of course you cant go on stage doing THAT, but for practice, Is this not a good method for knowing if you're doing it correctly? @Lavizzle Haha, I trust him, he is incredibly commercial but he knows his stuff and he is a good teacher. Theres lots of people who know their stuff but their are not good teachers.
@Lavizzle "Brett is cool... he always seems a bit stoned and somehow that makes me trust him" LMFAO ! That's because stoned people are honest people lol . I wish everybody was stoned, the world would be a better place...^_^
@notroxing no the head is your falsetto, and your chest is your "mid" voice so to speak. They are connected in the fact that as you go up you hit your falsetto eventually. But this technique helps you get past your falsetto. The space between your chest and head voice is called the "break." Getting past the break lets you sing in your full voice and lets you achieve a larger clearer sound without going into falsetto. I'm not 100% sure if I'm correct, but I think I'm close...
@Seatellite head voice is not at all falsetto. flasetto is when there is no chord closure and air is going through your throat. Head voice is called that way because the resonance goes from chest to head.
@Music4LifeNFun ya i agree with that. i've been listening to a lot of brett's programs and this is how he explains it to, and it does make sense to me.
@Seatellite head voice is not at all falsetto. flasetto is when there is no chord closure and air is going through your throat. Head voice is called that way because the resonance goes from chest to head.
@Seatellite Head voice and falsetto are not the same. I'd say falsetto, which can be produced in higher (head voice) and lower (chest voice) tones, is a form of unsupported/unconnected head/chest voice respectively.
