  • Turner Want to make Purple commercial!!! But as we all know Deep Purple wasn't a commercial band!!! They were musicians first of all!!! I believe that all the people who played for this band gave things but THE DEEP PURPLE singer was and will always be IAN GILLAN!!!

  • its verry goooooooooooooooood,

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT

  • i had tickets for this tour in chicago. the tour in the states didn't sell at all and it was called off.

  • @vinnieodude

In Europe the show was sold out. The Americains let the band down, preferring shit like Nirvana.

  • jlt is great

  • Agreed, BRO has to be worst DP album, I was so disappointed when I bought it...other than Anya that is the scaffolding of a decent song, the rest is an aimless and shapeless jam. No surprise Gillan was called back after the backing tracks were finished...

  • @esca4ever

    The worst?

    You cant be serious.

    ABANDON!!!!

    ROTD sucks as well.

TBRO had more to offer than Anya btw.

WDWTWA is a great album as well.: )

  • Dude I Love the purple from all the early

    days Evans, Gillan,Coverdale and

when Ian Gillan rejoined Deep Purple

for Perfect Strangers & The House Of

Blue Light albums I followed those tours Ian Gillan was On but when they recorded

The Battle Rages On the band fell flat

maybe the song Anya has some purple

power but the rest of the album is weak.

  • There is lots of amazing guitar work on S&M, some of Blackmore's best in fact.

The lyrics on the album are deep and compelling, and the melodies are rich and beautiful.

Far better than geriatric rapper and a jazz/country guitarist playing a laughably airbrushed version of hard rock.

Songwriting? At this incarnation knew what it was, and didn't throw in silly and inappropriate chord progressions here there and everywhere in their songs.

  • @analogueaddict "Deep and maningful"? It's the same old AOR "love-rock" (mostly) that we saw in Rainbow with Turner... Turner is a singer, not a lyricist. Even Lord has stated that Turner ruined this. Lord had a great composition with what was to become 'Love Conquers All', but when Turner became the main lyricist for the 'S&M' project, it was ruined, according to Lord. Anyone calling Gillan a "geriatric rapper", shouldn't be allowed to call themselfs a Deep Purple fan. You sir, are a disgrace..

  • @SilverTounge85

    Sorry if the "Truth Hurts"

I love and revere the Gillan that was more into his 'art'. There was a reason for Blackmore turning against him, and it was musical.

Personally I love LCA, musically and lyrically. Perhaps Gillan could have embellished it with lyrics such as "One Man's Meat", "Lick It Up" or "Knocking At Your Back Door"?!?

  • @SilverTounge85

And you are so predictable : )

Howmuch I love him, Jon is known to flipflop opinions.

Both Turner(he was not at his best during S & M, he now wipes the floor with that singing)and Gillan were often struggling live.

If Gillan had not staggered on with drinking and smoking(NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL)he might have got the respect from Blackers more.

Btw, Gillan was ackled by the whole band end 90's.

Gillan left in 73 due to his own reasonaning, not because he was sacked.

  • Very cool

  • Hey this is cool, I wish the studio version had more guitar, Roger mixed Ritchies guitar low, almost under Lord's keyboards

it sound's so much better turned up loud.

a few songs on that CD didn't sound very Purple, this one does, just, the most Purple sounding song on it is " Cut Run's Deep " Turner's got one of the best vocals

around, it's a shame fans didnt' give him a chance with all the Deep Rainbow crap

as he says do fans call the new line up Deep Dregs, he has a point.

  • Man I love this song, although this version the tempo is a little faster than I like it. but still great!

  • r u rly stargazer? if that's fact, greetinx from 0x315875

    300-8n1/MNP rulez

  • as much as im a traditional long term purple fan, i have to say this was a great line up and the music was excellent and innovative in the purple tradition

  • Great performance.. JLT is an excellent singer, unfortunately underrated..

  • Agreed ..

  • Hehe, this concert happened 3 days after the day I was born :P

  • JLT Has a very strong voice, and this is a very strong, perhaps the strongest on the S&M album, but this is not DP....Deep Rainbow perhaps?

  • I think, Jon and Ritchie and Paice is the Deep Purple no any singers

  • JLT is awesome, his caree is like Dio's in a lot of different bands and some huge one's but never respected as much as should be because of some previous pre-madonna's earlier sucess's , but if you look at his over all library of hits he's quite good, like Dio. I think. Rock on Joe Cool.

  • very amatorial singer but this song rocks

  • learn to speak before you amuse us with your stupidity.

  • blackmore' s sound is just monstruous again here

  • hes no gillan, but he looks like he was worth paying a ticket to see at the time

  • check out the 1991 version of lazy at nyc radio music hall ritchie is awesome

  • JLT is the worst dp's singer but this song is amazing!

  • jlt is not bad, but he isn´t a purple singer!

  • why not? He sang for Rainbow. Rainbow is a little different but he has an excellent voice
