Great Video, too bad it's 2yrs old or maybe I would be able to find those lights at my walmart, even looked for the celebration lights. I'm not inspired to make a custom light system with LEDs off the xport plug.
I don't like the light systems that look like 3-4 LED's flying in the sky, I like seeing the wings or fuse a little. So I'm building it semi-based on your light positions. Thanks again
you have talent! well done. im just beginning in the hobby started on the 4th of july. Got a long way to go before i even consider myself an amateur but thanks to videos like yours im gaining knowledge. thanks!
i have tried to find these lights at walmart but none of the walmarts or kmarts sell these lights in the kc missouri area. anywhere online i can find these? thanks
I did this thanks it is awsum. Have a 100 planes gas, elect ect. but still love the super cub. Put some trexler 3 1/2 " inflatables on them and they will land on anything,Michael
you realize you can buy a complete LED navigation lights system with a switch for only $10 on eBay! smart one you just ruined your plane with making those huge holes when you could insert small LEDs!!!
"Smart one" didn't ruin his plane with huge holes. There were no holes at all - none....look again. Also, "smart one" posted this video over two years ago when I was just getting into flying. You, smart one, are the one posting negative comments on a two-year old video.
yeah well sorry about my negative comment but i was just saying in general that there are better ways to do this, and i did not see the date that it was posted on.
and why do you reply to like every comment on this video, i somehow see you all over it?
peterkania grow up man! I actually like this idea more. You don't have wires running around everywhere and they are way more brighter! I think its awesome!
Love the velcro strut idea. I just received a Super Cub as a gift and was already thinking of a way to make wing removal easier. Thanks for answering my question.
How did you ook them up? Grom a seperate power supply, or did you get the power from the bat pack. I would like to do this but I do not know how to. Also if you hooked up from batt pack did you use resistors. how did you hook up the leds in series or how. Please get back to me i realy want to do this. as you can see from my videos a use leds but they stink yours are realy good. I get my power from a whatch battery. Thank you
Very simple. Cut a three inch piece of self adhesive velcro. The just peel off the backing paper and fold in half with the strut inside. I now take a pair of scissors and cut the corners off for a smoother appearance. You'll love how this makes wing removal and installation so quick and easy.
Great project! Only question is wouldn't so many of these ring lights cause weight and drag issues? Must be a brushless motor. Unfortunataly I don't have any videos, but something I'll post in a separate comment due to letter character limitations.
The lights do add some weight and drag, but this plane comes with a good strong motor. Obviously, the idea is to only use the lights when you want to fly in the dark. For daylight flying, they pop right off.

( be sure to replace (DOT) with a . and remove extra spaces)
As I said, these lights were picked up in the Bridal section of Walmart. They are manufactured by a company called Hirschberg Schutz & Co and they are called "Celebration Lights"
I stole your Velcro ideas and have fastened the lights via that method. I just take them off during the day. (I also used the Velcro on my wings and love it)
I placed those stickers all over the wings and then used the little red black light to make those glow. That worked quite well as the stickers are fluorescent.
After searching for a while I found a set of these lights on e-bay. I've copied the image over to my photobucket account for safe keeping as this was a very hard image to come by. (cont)
The lights this guy used are just ok. I ended up using the same lights for my rear light and to illuminate the tops of my wings.
I ended up using lights that were just as cheap but provided better results. Check the bridal section of most Super Walmarts and you will find small LED lights used to light up helium balloons and drinks.
These lights can be placed inside the SuperCub to make it light up.
"This guy" appreciates your sharing of info regarding the improvements and fun we can all have with our Super Cubs. I will admit that your wording was a bit off-putting. I checked out your video (though I could not access it via this link) ...very nice. But I would love to see the actual lights and mostly how you mounted them on your Cub, etc.
Signed, "This guy" that used lights that are just OK.
Sorry.. Didn't mean to offend or sound condescending. I just wrote the message quickly and without much thought. It was actually your video that inspired me to try night flying.
I found the lights that you used but they didn't quite light up the plane like I had hoped. But, the red version of the lights are similar to black lights. Therefore I purchased bright orange price tag stickers for a price gun from Office Max. (CONT)
AWESOME video. I'm a new Cubber and I can't wait to get into all these mods! My favorite part is the velcro support mod, but I like your customized parts case too, ha ha. Just SICK, dude.
mani ve been looking for those in wal mart for ever for these lights ,get some and i'll buy the off you,,,please pm me rcuniverce (eastcoast78) or the super cub forum!!!!
Good job. I have been night flying since 1981 and love it. I like scale lights though, and red lights on airplanes are always on the left. It is easier to stay oriented when they are the same as real planes. Of course yours is really lit, so easy to see.
You can also see my night flying video from 1991 on youtube. Search Night Flying Christen Eagle.
Keep it up. Your doing good. We are going to have a night fun fly this summer. Wanna come?
I have a night video of my firebird freedom. Its similar to yours but I extended the lights of the night module to the wings and tail. Look at my videos.
Dude, thank you for the tips! specially the Velcro wing strut attachments! GENIUS!! Thanks!!!

You know theres a kit you can buy that is made for the Super Cub, for flying at night. I love the idea. Seems like somthing I would come up with.

The night module. But those lights suck because they are only at the bottom of the airplane and are very hard to see its better what he did.
