@broaddusmarines I was in Operation Scotland,which was the battle of Khe Sanh in 1968. That was the biggest and longest battle of the Vietnam war and I really came to appreciate the pogues in supply. Without those guys, the 03's would be without boots, bullets and butt-wipe. Don't run down anybody (almost) for his MOS. (I wasn't a grunt, just the ops of tactical radar.) The Air Farce has some pretty useless MOS's, but not the Crotch.

The Taliban government of Afghanistan had been giving Al Qaida training sanctuaries in return for the financial support of Ben Laden. To get at Al Qaida we had to go through the Taliban, and to prevent them from coming back we needed to get a stable democratic government in Afghanistan.

There was a saying when I served in our military way back when, that apparently still holds true today. We soldiers were obligated to respect the rank, not the person wearing it. For military, standing at attention as a superior enters is a sign of respect. Nothing wrong with cheering and clapping if that was what the "Bush" occasion called for. Nothing wrong with standing at respectful attention either.
The White House knew the president was in for a tepid welcome which is why he entered to "Hail to the Chief" which is unusual when the CinC addresses his troops. Likewise, they played "Stars and Stripes Forever" as he exited to cover the tepid response. President Bush unabashedly loved and respected our men and women in uniform and they responded in kind. He also served in uniform and that does make a difference.
Obama & his family treat the Marines on MSG duty (who protect THEM - the guys positioned EVERYWHERE around and in the White House) like slaves. They don't even acknowledge them. All previous Presidents have always had complete respect for the Marines (the President is the Commander in Chief - head of the Marine Corps) and always been friendly and studious to those who are part of the Military in general.
Ask anyone who's worked MSG duty for Pres. Obama. I'm not making this shit up.

@broaddusmarines I was in Operation Scotland,which was the battle of Khe Sanh in 1968. That was the biggest and longest battle of the Vietnam war and I really came to appreciate the pogues in supply. Without those guys, the 03's would be without boots, bullets and butt-wipe. Don't run down anybody (almost) for his MOS. (I wasn't a grunt, just the ops of tactical radar.) The Air Farce has some pretty useless MOS's, but not the Crotch.

I'm 23, and I don't think that a truly well qualified president since I've been old enough to be aware of the political process. That being said I'd rather have someone who tries to respond to the world on it's terms rather than the ivory tower intellectual we have now. Seems like our current president is hell bent on destroying the econemy, and creating a mess that the children i hope to have, and their children will be paying off.

@longame Well if you would like to say it, then say it. "YOU are wrong!" In the case of Afghanistan it was a simple problem, Al Qaida had attacked the US on 9/11. The Taliban government of Afghanistan had been giving Al Qaida training sanctuaries in return for the financial support of Ben Laden. To get at Al Qaida we had to go through the Taliban, and to prevent them from coming back we needed to get a stable democratic government in Afghanistan.

There was a saying when I served in our military way back when, that apparently still holds true today. We soldiers were obligated to respect the rank, not the person wearing it. Very clearly here in this video, the title of Commander In Chief is respected in both cases, just not both men holding that rank. There is another saying in general, "You made your bed, we will make sure that you sleep in the God damn thing".

The White House knew the president was in for a tepid welcome which is why he entered to "Hail to the Chief" which is unusual when the CinC addresses his troops. Likewise, they played "Stars and Stripes Forever" as he exited to cover the tepid response. President Bush unabashedly loved and respected our men and women in uniform and they responded in kind. He also served in uniform and that does make a difference.
