Anyone else finds that their back redstone torch next to water gets destroyed sometimes by cobble?

I'm using this in SMP servers so it sometimes screw it up, i think its just cuz lag but can anyone tell meh how to fix that?

This.. This... Is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I realize the redstone wiring isn't that complicated, but still... Never thought of it. This will help me greatly with the skyblock server I'm on, as you can trade 1 enderpearl for 10 redstone :D (phanaticmd.no-ip.org)

from what ive seen there appears to be a bug in 1.1 that breaks this design cuz i built this in 1.0 and it worked perfectly. now when the cobble stone forms it appears in the space where one of the redstone torches is and destroys it

The only problem I have with this is in SMP. sometimes, the lava destroys the redstone torch. Is there another way to do a SMP friendly generator?

I don't know what happened but this doesn't work anymore :( the two normal pistons at the back aren't being powered, and yes, I did it exactly the same as in the video

@pr0Russian smoothstone is generated when lave pours from above into water, is quicker to mine and STILL produces cobble. Furthermore with an enchantment your axe could mine the smoothstone without it turning into cobble. So what is required is a rearrangement of things at the back of this so the lave pours from above into the water and then the pistons extract it. Unfortunately I'm not good enough with redstone to rearrange things nicely.

@bebbodux Actually, if you have it build out into a long plate, then have a circut that drops tnt on the plate, dropping the mined cobble into a stream that takes it all to you, it is a bit more automatic. You still need to replace tnt though, and everything kind of has to be obsidian + much bigger.

- creepers run faster than zombies straight to you

- skellies trying to shoot you

- you have creepers below you

- creepers will attack skellies if they were hit by an aroow

- creepers blow holes into cobblestone

I'm not sure exactly what was wrong - I'm a redstone newb - but I think I stopped the issue of cobble knocking down detector torches by adding a 1-tick delay to the repeaters. So if your generator keeps breaking, give that a try.

Is it possible to make a smooth stone generator that functions like this? From what I can tell there's no way to arrange the water to create smooth stone and also allow torches underneath, so there's no way to detect when a block is made... but maybe someone else can do it. Smooth stone breaks a lot faster, so it would be nice.

Suggestions:

*Omit torches at back end. What are they for?!

*Replace two ground stone at back end with pit where lava can flow in. (Opt.)

*Make a block presence detector at farthest range of cobble (where it stops), connect to redstone just before repeaters - will pause the generator when full, and continue automatically when last block(s) is/are removed again. Much better than having it break, and needs only two additional torches and some wire. (Could also wire to more pistons to free space)

if with torches at back end you mean the ones under the generated cobble blocks, then yes, you could remove them, but the whole thing will become instable and break very often

if instead you meant those up in the air, they are needed to activate the non-sticky pistons

The pistons are activated by the presence of a cobble block over the redstone torch.

If this block can't be pushed away, it will keep on activating the pistons forever.

If in the meantime another block is generated in that same spot, it will be pushed down by the pistons, breaking the torch.

I think this is happening to myself and others in normal operation for some reason. I'll be harvesting cobble, when the left side stops generating. (Always the left for some reason.) When I go around the back, I find a cobble block where the detector torch should be, and the torch laying around waiting to be picked up.
