Oh my God, I've seen this before! Just clicked on it because I like Charles Rocket and I realise that I watched this on tv when I was about 7 years old. Haven't seen it or thought about it since then but the memory just came back. I have a freakishly detailed long term memory, especially for tv and movies I saw as a kid. Anyway, Thanks for putting it up, I'd like to see the whole thing to see how much I remember.
In the mid 80's, CBS did something unique with their summer schedule. Rather than running summer reruns, which all the networks did at the time, they decided to show pilots of shows that were up for consideration to be bought for series. This was one such pilot show.
Gene Roddenberry had a similiar scene in the early 70s TVMovie/pilot "Questor" with an android calculating how to win at craps (and reshape the loaded dice he's handed when he wins too much)
Yes, and Roddenberry also did the same in STNG with Data in "The Royale" episode. To get out of the hotel they had to break the casino so they could buy it.

Interesting & good for CBS. I wouldn't know anything about that though, as I am from the UK!.
I can't even remember what TV station it was on here, channel 4 i expect back when they were really left-field & edgy (and good!)
