im so glad this vid is posetive. im looking at my sidebar right now and its comming up with some vids that put down the LDS church. Im really excited to go on my mission! :D i just put in my papers yesterday!
i wont allow, as long as im breathing anyone to leave biased and unthruth on MY channel, if you have something to say about MY faith, go elsewhere and say it, i have as much right to defend my faith as you have to slander it, so...anyone who says one word negative, be forewarned, youll be removed, have a nice day! MICHELLE
The reason why the LDS girls want to marry a return missionary it's because they want to marry someone who's gonna do sacrifice for the church, someone with high principles!! Sometimes man go on a mission for the girls and not for the church but they realize during ther mission that it's more important than just the girl and if they don't realize that... well it's sad for him!!!
This is not a religious debate people--this is simply an act of heroism. thank God for those elders who happen to be there at that moment. You both were definitely meant to be there.
It is wonderful that they saved the ladies life. But that does not mean that their message is correct? Atheists save people too! Does that mean atheism is correct? It doesn't even mean that the lady was protected. She was stabbed! If God wanted to protect her, why didn't he stop the guy from attacking her in the first place. Think people. Thinking is so important.
@verminpants because god doesnt control over what people choose, its called free agency. the man chose to stab the woman, so god needed another way to stop him. the missionaries happened to be walking down that direction and they stopped him. but the first part you say is right in a way, god will use whoever he needs to use. in this case LDS missionaries
So ludicrous. Lots are people are stabbed and killed and Mormon missionaries are not there to save them. Some people die, and others are saved because someone happens to be passing by and have the courage to do something about it. I agree with the idea of agency! But that very arguement implies that we choose our paths in life. God does not make us do anything. The missionaries happened to be in the area when the lady was stabbed and they helped. That does not mean god made it happen.
Ask yourself this. Is it possible that the human spirit as opposed to God's spirit can affect change for good? Can the human spirit do this independent of divine intervention? When bad things happen, religious people will say 'Ah that has nothing to do with God. People commit those atrocities not God.' But when good things happen, 'God made it happen.' The arguement is a flawed one. You cannot have it both ways.
What is even more foolish is the suggestion that the noble act of these missionaries is somehow evidence that the church is true. Look for real evidences. As I have already said, Atheists save peoples lives. Does that mean that Atheism is true?
@verminpants so by saying this you suggest that God aught to protect everyone, and no injury or harm should befall any person. But if that were true, we wouldn't have agency, because we would never have the right to choose evil. (I am not trying to preach. I would be just as thankful for their service if they had been any other religion. I'm not trying to say that because of this circumstance, everything the LDS church teaches is true. Please learn how we act before you decide it for us.)
@mgirl157 How absurd! I think it is obvious that that is NOT my suggestion. I am NOT suggesting that God (if God exists) should protect everyone. I was responding to those who were suggesting that the timely intervention of these missionaries was evidence that the Mormon Church was the true religion. I DO suggest that this is utter nonsense. There are such heroes from all walks of life, that does not mean that their particular philosophy is the 'true' way.
@verminpants Of course there are many people who would have acted with the same heroism as these men did. Yet, the fact that they were given the chance to display their heroism while serving a mission for their church gives a great sense of pride to all their fellow members. They devote two years of their life for a cause they believe in with no benefit to themselves. That in itself is something to have pride in. We aren't asking you to belive our church. Just don't bang on it.
@mgirl157 Yet again you are refusing to see my point. I am not doubting the heroism of these missionaries, nor am I 'banging' on your church. I am simply contesting the absurd reasoning that was made before which said that the heroism of these missionaries meant that the Mormon Church was true. Perhaps your religion is the true faith. If it is, then it is reasonable to assume that such truth is based on more solid evidence than this. Do you understand?
@mgirl157 "They devote two years of their life for a cause they believe in with no benefit to themselves." Not true all the time. My nephews wife would not marry him unless he did his two year mission. To female members of the LDS that Mission is very important when they go to marry an LDS man. Also as callings are handed out within the Church, "Did he do his mission?" is always looked at.
@fraughtonaround As I said some LDS women won't marry an LDS man unless he has done his Mission. So, if boy likes girl and girl is a pure heart LDS girl... boy had better do his mission or he can kiss the girl goodbye! I have know several LDS boys who did their missions for a girl not god!
Yeah I agree with that...that's not what I was contesting. Just your comment about receiving later callings...those really don't do a whole lot in the terms of benefiting the called, they're for benefiting others.
Because that is what God does to you. its a good thing. They are doing work for God and why should they not be smiling? Missionaries are always willing to do anything you need them to
These young guys did the right thing. Bravery can be found within most young men. That's why they send them off to fight for the old farts. The only way to stop war is to put women in charge and send the men back to yardwork and their toys.
It sounds like your suggesting these two very good young men, are so, due only to their religion. This would mean they acted out of fear of Gods retribution rather than a natural desire to help someone in trouble. I prefer to believe, mormon or not, they'd have taken the same action. I believe the same of good people in all faiths. I also believe the evil people who hide behind religion would also be evil without it. Human nature can rarely be surpressed despite what you're taught.
i have had a good mormon friend. him and his family are very good people but not everyone likes living that way. i do admire the love they for family values. there are other mormons i know that do the opposite. i know yo ucant judge them from a few but. i have been hurt and treated bad by some of them.
Just like I have been hurt and treated bad by Baptist but I don't judge them. IF you disagree with Mormon Doctrine then you might as well disagree with the Bible and all other religions.
