I've always appreciated Bea Bendarett's (sp?) performance in this show. Everyone else comes across as actors playing a role. But Bea always seemed so real, so believable.

@DefconWarningSystem Bea Benaderet (have lots of experience typing that now) was a fantastic actress. She started in radio, I believe, and is also well known for the George Burns and Gracie Allen show. But she did epitomize Petticoat Junction IMO. It never was the same after she died. And I, for one, have never been able to watch a single one of the later episodes without thinking of her and Kate Bradley.

Considering the year this aired (1967), this was a pretty hot scene. And in a time when extra-marital affairs was frowned upon, and sex a word not used at all. It did help that Mike Minor and Linda Kaye Henning were an actual "item" at the time, though.

Beautiful redhead Linda Kaye(Betty Jo) was always my favourite! These days, it takes more guts to stay Red or Mouse Brown than reach for the peroxide for Bleach Blonde hair. Blonde is very common nowadays. IF YOURE UGLY AS A BROWNETTE? YOU WILL BE A BLONDE SCARECROW AS WELL...

@zodiolestes She was always my favorite too, but more because I was a tomboy too, only I was first base, not shortstop. :-} Not to mention I was the youngest girl in the family, so you can imagine how good it was to see the youngest get the handsome man.

Anyone knows of an episode of Petticoat Junction that would show a courthouse. it is said that our old domed courthouse that was torn down in 1964 was on Petticoat junction at some point and served as a view of some town scene.

He dumps the oldest sister to marry the youngest sister! In real life that would have caused a stir. My brother dated a girl who dumped me at a school dance, and the subject is not discussed to this day, 28 years later! This was after he committed road rage, and I saved his butt! He showed his gratitude this way! got one of the two last laughs. He proposed to her, and SHE SAID NO! The final laugh will be delivered after my parents' estate is settled! The worst part was she was Mom's boss' kid!

@vccstudents I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience. My own sister is 11 yrs older and so that situation never really came up with us. But I like to think that if I were in a similar situation, if her heart was concerned, I would refrain. However, in defense of small rural areas, it isn't all that unusual to see best friends or siblings date the same people. When there isn't much to choose from, that is, IMHO, inevitable. The key is always if the heart is involved or not.

@1964nickel This wasn't, and still isn't a rural area in my case. This was Daytona Beach, Florida. If you ONLY knew the price I paid for his actions. I ended up meeting someone at a very vulnerable time in my life right after this and have been stalked by her ever since! If you thought Caroline stalking Fez from "That 70's Show" was crazy, you haven't seen anything yet! :) Thank God my wife is "normal."
