ATI DC-8 Takeoff (Louisville Airport, SDF)

ATIs DC 8 Freighters are currently only flying standby for DHL and a few charters out of KCVG. The rest are parked in Wilmington OH

That is exactly where I work.

We don't operate the DC8 any more, but we have various odd planes like that one come in for peak in late december, operated by other companies.

As cool as they were, I don't miss having to load them.

These flights from Louisville on the ATI DC-8s are horses going to Europe from Lexington. I have flown on one of these flights from Louisville - Shannon - London Stanstead.

I flew one from Dharan, Saudi Arabia to BKK. Also, many trips on the DC-8's that were popular with United on stateside runs. There was an exceptional number of first class seats offered on UA's

DC-8's. I am not sure when they were phased out of pax service only to haul freight.? The 8's were my favorite back then to fly on.
