  • Hi Mikey, when changing the settings, does the helicopter have to be powered on too?

thanks, keep up the good work.

  • @RICHYZEE1 Nope.

  • He Mikey I did fix the problem it was in my laptop all comports where being used up to com 39 dont ask why Lol. so I just unused com 2 and set the t6config to port 2 and it works just fine now but I also read that the software does'nt work with win 7 but when I went into the propertys it listed a bunch of dif windows programs and it listed 3windows 7 types so maybe they upgraded the software the disk is new. who knows??

  • @scottgsxr1000 AWESOME! Glad you got it to work.

  • Hey Mikey, may be you can help me I have T-6A ZD FLY and I loaded up the T6config and when ever I click on it I get Invalid port number and Im running win7 with vista and any help would be great thanks

  • @scottgsxr1000 I don't think the software works with windows 7.

  • tHANKS A million mike! got this cheapy radio and what was screwing me was the mixes that came with it.... for 32 bucks these radios rock!

  • Hey mikey you need some neg pitch in normal mode!!! When you fly in some wind you'll won't get the heli down because the blades can provide lift in even the slightest upward gush!

Nice guide by the way!! keep it up!

  • Hi Will,

I have the same radio, I changed all my settings like in the video.

But now when I switch the throttle hold off (switch "A") the main rotor starts turning kinda fast, the trim and throttle stick are all the way down. I did not change my gyro settings,(per your instructions) not sure if that has anything to do with it.

    any help would be apreciated.

Great Gtreat videos by the way.

Thanks from a new member of your forum

    Mikec

  • @peninsulamike Check your Throttle Stick Programming I had the same thing happen

  • thank for your video

  • Mikey, where can I download the software for setting up software? Mine is ACE RC from thunder tiger?

    Thanks

  • @stingrayfred1 Just do a coocle search for "mikeysrc driver software" and the links are at the bottom of the page.

  • Thank you

  • Great Job Will.... I bought my trex 450 clone two months ago and thought it was "Ready To Fly". Boy is that term MISLEADING!! I charged battery took it outside and was scratching my head as to why I could not get it to hover?? Second day took it out and stripped two servos, broke head linkage which caused one of the main bladed to dent my tail boom... They are not ready to fly. They are assembled and that is all. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS. I will be hovering this weekend.

  • look out for those tail boxes, hada good 4-5 flights then the tail started turning about 10 degrees and made the gyro go nuts, all ya got holding the tailbox on is one lousy cheap screw and nut.......take my word, upgrade with a trex tailbox!!, thiers a nub that holds the boom straight

  • Hi mike,

why you leave in the SWASH AFR all the channels to 100%? Is not much excursion?

  • hey with the trottle cut you can do an autorotating landing!

  • Hi Mikey!

To all having problems with the USB/Radio connection, this latest driver did it for me. Before, it would just hang and not work at all. After upgrading to the v6 driver, it works great!

Google for "CP2102 driver download" and hit the first link. Youtube wont let me paste the link.

    Kind Regards

    Magnus, Sweden

  • Hey, i've followed everything you put in here. Do i have to have the heli plugged in AS you change the settings?? Because it's like i'll program it all and when i plug the heli in, it doesn't recognise anything even though i've saved it.

    Please Help dude.

    Will.

  • @HeliPilotWill Hmmm that's weird. No you don't have to have the heli turned on. Sounds like you are doing the right thing. I don't know why you are having trouble.

  • @MikeysRC I know, it's a mystery, i think that my pitch servo has broken because i cannnot move it and it's buzzing. I will tell you if i figure anything out because you could get asked the same thing from anyone else. Thanks for the information aswell. You're a great help :)

    Will.

  • iv never been able to communicated with my tx through the computer (vista/win 7), even though the cable works with fms and it shows up as ppjoy under d.m., im pretty computer savy and have not been able to run the program, iv downloaded the lastest vista driver first cp210x then the t6config, but when i plug it in (vista) it shows up as ppjoy and not under ports like com1 or com2,,windows 7 doesnt even have com ports so i dont think its possible, but for vista it should be, right ???????????????

  • @hojo2011 I know others have been able to get it to work but I ran it on ym XP computer so I never had any experience getting it to work on a Vista / Win7 machine.

  • @MikeysRC actually its x.p., i dont know why i said vista, so ya its x.p. and it doesnt work???so do u think those vista drivers messed it up since its x.p., ill make a vid of it tonight, can u comment on it and see what I did wrong, iv had this problem for 4 months

  • @hojo2011 I'm really no expert on this stuff. Unfortunately I don't think I can give you any more tips to figure this out. It has always just worked for my on XP. Yeah maybe you can uninstall the drivers.

  • @hojo2011 Hey dude, is it the cable that it came with?? Make sure you're not using a 4 chan cable from Esky or something. Make sure it's a 6 channel programming cable

    Will.

  • Yo Mikey, if you have a DX6i, do you have to do all the tuning with the Tx on your computer? or can u just do it all on the Tx its self ?

  • You can only program the DX6i in the transmitter itself.

  • hey there i tried these settings on my transmitter but somehow everthing was in reverse after some trial and error i found out that i had to reverse channel3 and a couple of other chans.also i had to alter and reverse throttle curve settings starting at 100% and down to 0%. now in mode 2 i can fly my trex wihout irish logic .

  • Hello friend.

you know what the original configuration of the CopterX 450 ae.

    for use in Pragrama T6config.

    hug.

  • Go search for them on my forum. I posted them there. Sorry I can't post any links here.

  • how would you program the tx for a begginer

  • If you are using the transmitter in this video then one way is to set the swash AFR settings much lower. That will tone down the swash servos.

  • what about the tx you are selling

  • Same way...or use the dual rates switch.

  • Have you used the Exceed tx/rx enough to have a long term impression/opinion on reliability and quality?

  • No, not really. Soon though I'm going to be selling an even better transmitter than the Exceed TX. It is a 2.4Ghz spread spectrum, 5 model memory, heli and plane TX.....YAY

  • Hi Mickey, I visited many tuitorial vids but you're video is the most comprehesive knowledge, reliable, tuitorial video i ever seen thank you so much for educating me.- from Japan -joey G.

  • You're welcome. Thanks for letting me know!

  • is there a setup video #12 for the rudder and gyro setup?

  • Coming soon.........

  • When putting in the servos is it ok to use a dremel tool to just shave the hole a little so the servos will fit in from the front, this is what i did seems to work but not finished with the build yet

  • Yes it's ok to do that to open the holes a little BUT.......if you pit the servos (at least the one that I said to buy) in from the outside your swash plate push rods will be at a BAD angle. It's better to put the servos in through the middle of the helicopter. It's a pain but it's the better way.

  • Hello great videos :D I havnt got one yet but will be getting one im going post another comment on #2

anyway i was wondering would these settings ,pitch curv ect ect work on the dxi6??

  • Every helicopter......even if it's identical in every part needs a little minor tweaking to get it to fly exactly the same. So yes these settings will get you in the ball park but you will need to mess with them some more to dial in your heli.

  • Thanks mikey

  • cant really tell but in your video is your switch b switch forward or backward? Thx mikey

  • Switch b....the switch on the left side.....the one for selecting between idle up(3D flying) and non-stunt(normal mode) is toward the BACK in my videos. So always it's in "normal" mode in this video.

  • Hello! I got impatient, got it flying with the help from Helifreak.

Some suggestions after 30+ packs and 2 crashes..

*CA the tail clamp, Mine kept rotating on me during landing.

*ESC programming, mine was shipped with lipo cutoff, not power down, so it dropped out of sky.

*I really had a hard time adjusting the tail gain and servo travel. So I then hooked up Chan 5 to gyro gain, and mixed chan 5 to knob A, adjust on fly!

Thanks for the Great Series of Vids, you enlightened me that heli r cheap!

  • Cool, thanks for the tips!

  • Thanks for the video. I put your thro curv/pit curve in the program works way better than the settings I had. now it feels more controllable, and has better reaction.

  • O, cool! Yes these settings are pretty good but I might make some changes to them in the end. Stay posted =).

  • Thanks for the video. Very useful!! I'm buyng a heli like this to learn.

  • Cool another convert =)

  • yes anther good vid, want to see more servo positions i.e. aileron servos in extreme roll, does one go up and one go down? vs. some mellow servo positions for basic foward flight and dont forget some gyro set-up why exactly do i want to switch it

  • Hi, where can I get the cable and software for that control? Thanks

  • You can download the software from mt website. mikeysrc . com Look for the FREE PDF downloads page and the software is on there too.

You can get the cable from HobbyCity . com

  • Hey Mikey! Thanks again for another comprehensive video, they are very well done. I have learned a great deal from them.

And thanks for the comments you left on my channel

  • thx for all your hard work!

  • I heard it might be good to have a slight negative pitch on normal pitch position 0

  • If you are a beginner it's not good to have more than 1* of neg. pitch cause new pilots tend to chop the throttle when in trouble and this would slam the heli into the ground. More expierenced pilots need the neg. pitch when flying in wind and in fast forward flight to be able to descend without loosing too much head speed.

  • That makes sense. I was told the negative pitch helps keep the chopper on ground if it's windy, though. Funny story, it acted as a fail safe when my bud turned off the Tx while motor was plugged in! Haha, I was able to save it since it was glued to the ground.

  • Remember to always have the TX turned on and the throttle all the way down cause heli blades especially carbon fiber blades can severely injure.

  • Yeah, I will be covering all this in the next couple videos.

Thanks for asking. I really like to hear what people want to see more of.

  • O yeah, you beat me to the punch exactly what I was going to say =).

  • I think this got answered but look at the more recent comments.

  • I don't understand why this doesn't have a million views. I had to look all over the net to compile all this info in my brain.

  • Well tell your friends.....lets get it too a million =)

  • Dude....not cool throwing the puppet around!!! XD. Great vid again bro :)

  • No I was just "stage diving" from the camera!

  • Great as every time!

  • Odd that the pitch curve isn't linear in idle up

  • Yeah these aren't the final settings. Mostly I just wanted to get a decent "hover" or "NOR" pitch curve programed in so I could then set the blade tracking up.

  • come on mikey we want to see her test flight or maidenflight

  • I'm getting there. Just want to leave no stone unturned for the new guys out there. =)

  • Looking forward to the next video...

  • Yeah me too. I'm looking forward to this video series being done. They always seem to take much longer that I think they should.

  • Well, as long as you have fun making them, which you seem to do.

I have a Honey Bee King II as my first helo and I'm lucky to still have it in one piece. I kept burning the motors before I was able to move on from a hover but I kept burning the motor.

After some research, I realized that I went a little over my head for a first heli. Eventually I'll get me a rookie heli to learn with.

For now, my HBK II stays resting on top of my desk.

    Take care!
