  • whats up with the music

  • i hate the music (no offense)

  • Link...?

  • Sorry bout that was gonna say is there a website where i can play this game? I would love to

  • Is there a web

  • Josh: Wow! How'd ya make it? That's amazing!! ^_^ great job ! Sonic will love it!! ^_^; AWESOME! Dude!! Your a great artist and game maker !!

    [Josh Potter]

  • Interesting, but the music...

  • personally. i like the speed of this game compared to GBA sonic., and i like the effects too.

  • How do you make these games?

  • cool dust fx

  • it needs a bit less trailsmoke when hes running, and maybe add a little grass to the trail?

  • nice but u should implement homing atk

  • What's that song from?

  • how did u make this becuase thats sweet hope i can get a crack at it when your done

  • well that sucks you dont have homing attack

  • Can you tell me the name of the music plz?

and you got a really nice work here!

  • nah, i can't stand the advance/DS sprites that are used so often lately.

    Otherwise, looking mighty fine.

  • Yea, I'm changing them soon.

    Thanks.

  • @Hobbes30 Also change the life stock image. It's the werehogs!

  • It would be better overall if you didn't mix Advance and Genesis style graphics.

  • They have been removed.

    Thank you.

  • No Prob, besides that, I like the game. I love how you included a decent amount of platforming. Something that has been lacking in fangames lately.

  • Thank again.

I'm actually remaking the game to fit a different sprite style though.

  • just figured I'd let you know, from one fan game maker to another. Just a tip. It's easier to make better levels if you map them out first on graph paper. You can see the whole level at the same time. I find it useful.

  • Yea, that makes since.

I'll do that. Plus, When I made these levels I was kind of rushing everything.

  • I know what you mean. I onced rushed the boss on my game, and no one liked it. I'm probabily going to touch it up soon though.

  • @SpeedingHedgehog Fair enough if the player has access to these level maps too. Problem with your method is that you end up with a level looking great on paper, and not necessarilly great as a game. For notes, graph paper is a great tool, but not to look at for reference as were to put items and level pieces

  • @nicholasthetaylor Well, the trick is to understand the engine your designing the level for, if you know how the game works, you can design levels that fit its attributes and gameplay style.

  • @SpeedingHedgehog I 100% agree with you there. As is the case for most engines, the player at any one time with have a number of options, and will be expected to react in an intelligent way, such as if running really fast and the path appears to fork, then choose which one to take. The main point I was trying to make is that its easy when designing a level to forget that a player can only see so much of the level ahead. Things like leaps of faith should be avoided, whereas exploration encouraged

  • @nicholasthetaylor Ahhhh, I understand and agree with you! You also have to design the levels in an intelligent way so that the design itself suggests what may lie off-screen, and, in the case of a 2D Sonic game, use slopes to accelerate and decelerate the player at appropriate times so they can have the speed, or lack thereof necessary to carry out a task.

  • @SpeedingHedgehog That sounds great to me. I hadn't thought of using slopes to control speed, but it makes perfect sense. Also, there was a neat trick used in Sonic 1 and 2 where the path would fork off, but carefully placed springs or loops would speed you off down one road, but you knew as a player that next time you were at that route that if you went through slowly, you would be rewarded with either a faster route through the level, a barrel load of rings, or speed ups and extra lives

  • @nicholasthetaylor I know what your talking about! That was always a very clever tactic.

  • The music makes me happy.

  • Thats good. I guess its happy music. =)

  • Whats the name of the song?

  • I can't remember.

  • the music at begining reminded me of croc 1 theme tune,,,, listen to croc after then go back to this hahaa wooop ,,

  • So have I, but I try my best to make a descent game with the knowledge that I already have.

  • Too much focus on graphics. Not enough focus on proper level design. Just like most Sonic fan games... -_-;

  • I stopped using this engine along time ago. =P

I don't even use those graphics/ sprites anymore. I've been focused on level designing for a few months.. I've just been to lazy to upload a new video.

  • you have a future on Game making

  • Thank you, but I don't plan to make games for a living, its just to keep me busy when theirs nothing else to do.

  • O sup Hobbes. HS from SCD, I didn't think you were still in the fan game business

well good luck with this then.

  • Hey, I remember you.

Yea, I am. Though, I've been busy with RL for awhile, so the game is on hold.

  • did u give sonic his homming attack ability???

  • No, Sonic won't have that ability. He will have jump dash though.

  • thats wat i ment some sort of thing that makes him do a farther jump

  • Oh, okay.

  • is there hand to hand combat

  • I haven't added that yet.

  • Not bad. When Sonic Jumps it looks like hes using Spacejump from Metroid =P

  • Oh, and also... where is the music from?

  • I don't remember, I got it from the audio swap.

  • Pretty nice job there!

I'd change the enemy placements, but everything else looks cool, and the physics seem to be fine! Good job!

  • Thanks!

  • I want this now!!! : )

  • Sorry, but you'll have to wait. =3

  • is this game out yet? i didnt know about this untill now. can u tell me?

  • Nope, its still in production. I've been workin on it for awhile fixing glitches.

  • Holy carp that was awesome how sonic did his breakdance move from battle and made it into a spindash!

  • Yea, i got the idea from seing tarnish's Sonic Spindash sprites. so I made my own version of it. that is why it has a diferrent spindash sprites and less breakdancing sprites.

  • Hmm... is there gonna be a chrismas demo?'Cuz you said:''Soon as in 1-2 weeks.'' It's been a month. But hey, it's your game.

  • yea, the demo is delayed due to errors that have been found in some characters, there should be a New years demo, but don't relay to much on it.

  • Yea there is a couple of errors, but the Demo will be soon.

    (Im AzureInferno of the team)

  • Not Bad! mine's worse :P

  • What? I thought yours looked better. Do you use the genesis engine to?

  • Yeah, I use it!

  • Soon? How soon? Anyway, looks cool.

  • Soon as in 1-2 weeks.

  • Hey where'd you get the engine? Its looks similar to SR..

  • I can't remember.. I think it was on the GameMakerCommunity.. but i could be mistaken..

It is an update/ genesis version of the Sonic Revival engine.

  • Could you send me this engine in a .gm6?

I'd give you credit for it also howd you Sonic's flip sprites? Man your the master at this.

  • Yea I'll send you the engine. Hey if you want you could join my team, its still growing and consists of 2 ppl.

  • I'd be honored Im very good at making stages and Im an artist and in real life so if I get my printer up and running I could draw out things if you wanted.

  • Nice! Welcome to Inferno team (working name) i hope. :)

  • this is wicked 5/5

  • Thank you. This level will be in the 1st demo of the game, wich will be out soon.
