The guinea pig was terrified of the cat. That's y it was squealing duh. And when in the video was the cat purring. It seemed to look hungry and not for ordinary cat food. I think it wanted to eat the lil piggy. D:

I know all the guineapig sounds. I went to this site to find out. This noise was hunger. And sometimes, when guineapigs make a purring sound, you think hes mad. But actually, he/she is curious, or indeed angry, but the angry noise is much harder and ruffer, also, a type of purring noise that occurs only to male guineapigs means, Ooh! A lady! Haha! So yh... My cats are afraid of my guinea pigs..One cat isnt but the other two, Bella, The youngest..She will look at it and be interested but wont go near it..I dont let them near my dog though. I trusted him once looked away and his mouth was around her..But dont worry shes alright, Luckily, :D

The guinea pig is NOT wheeking for food. She IS freaking out. She is probably wheeking for her mother. She looks very young. From someone who has 28 years' experience with guinea pigs.

The unusually higher pitched and fast interval wheeking noice he's making now is the distress call that guinea pigs make to their companions and friends when they are scared in an unfamiliar environment.

I got a guinea pig yesterday (saturday) and left her for 24hrs like some websites said. Then today (sunday) I try to handle her and she runs and when I hold her she shakes and she wont eat and she sits in her bedding area still and silent not even moving.
@EmeraldMare thats a natural response from guinea pigs. after all guniea pigs are PREY animals. this means its there instinct to run away. just handle them much more often and it should be ok, what i like to do is sit by the cage for a while let them get used to me being there, then going to pet them and pick them up, etc. also it helps if your guinea pig has a friend so she/he is less scared. you can also coax them over with food and tame them that way.
just take things slow. shell be fine. sit with your hand just resting in the cage for a few minutes a few times a day. dont try to touch her. just have your hand in the cage. after a day or 2, hold a carrot or parsley or something.

This is the second vid where I've seen someone think a scared G. Pig is cute. That kind of 'wheek' is a frightened cry. Don't make them go through that, please. If they are 'wheeking' for their supper or attention, it is slower and goes up on the end - it's not staccato like this. It's hard to describe, but there's a difference between "I'm hungry" and "I'm scared." I hope more G. Pig owners learn it.
this reminds me of my cat, so my cat looks exactly like yours he's fat and chill and always lays down. So i put my guinea pig out of his cage near my cat and he was just frozen and stayed still. My cat just licked him and acted like my guinea pig was just another cat. It was so cute :3

This is the second vid where I've seen someone think a scared G. Pig is cute. That kind of 'wheek' is a frightened cry. Don't make them go through that, please. If they are 'wheeking' for their supper or attention, it is slower and goes up on the end - it's not staccato like this. It's hard to describe, but there's a difference between "I'm hungry" and "I'm scared." I hope more G. Pig owners learn it.

this reminds me of my cat, so my cat looks exactly like yours he's fat and chill and always lays down. So i put my guinea pig out of his cage near my cat and he was just frozen and stayed still. My cat just licked him and acted like my guinea pig was just another cat. It was so cute :3

k the guinea pig isnt scared, guinea pigs RUN where theyre scared, not SIT THERE AND MAKE AS MUCH NOISE AS POSSIBLE. It probably heard the fridge open or smthg n got excited, mine did that all the time.

@gnem100 Yes he's dead, i had a guinea pig when i was 12. Im 20 now. Poor baby got a tumor in his throat when he was 4 years old and we couldnt afford the $400 surgery so we put him to sleep :( RIP Bucky :( Thanks for reminding me, jerk.

Even humans display this same type of behavior. Listen closely to the wheeking. The sound the guinea pig is making either fro Two things. One his asking for food which I doubt and the second it Is a sound they make when they are trying to warn other GP about danger. So I'm pretty sure this GP was scare.
