I have been researching how to eliminate this beetle like everyone else in heavily affected areas, I find since they are attracted to light, it is helpful to hang a light outside my house that has a globe over it and attach fly strips over it, avoiding $40.00-$60.00 stink bug light traps. Works pretty good. If you want to go organically grind them up in food processor(YUK) then add water and spray on garden. This works on all insects I know of but it is a gross process.
@Three1Bravo you misread my post; was a figure of speech to the person who was making this 'cutesy' video. Trust me, I KNOW they are a scourge and aren't cute at all. And to the person that said they don't sting, yes, they DO! Do a little Googling. Many cases of it!
I've got these in my self-storage unit. Somebody told me a great way to kill them is mix 1/3 gallon of bleach with 2 gallons of water and spray them. The guy said his wife tried this mix, and they die immediately... which is good, since I've tired wasp killer, flea killer, etc. DON'T SMASH THEM TO KILL THEM. The stink attracts more of them. All I can say is... ANOTHER GREAT IMPORT FROM FREAKIN' CHINA AND WAL-MART.
they infest my house the end of summer and throughout the year. i left a crack between my window air conditioner and window and hundreds upon hundreds infested my room in a matter of hours. they were in every crevice and crack of the room, it was truly a scene from a horror movie
a few months ago during the winter, i went into my garage to get a spare tube for my bike tire. i brought the tube box into my house and opened it, and about 20 OF THE LITTLE BITCHES FLY OUT AT ME!!! THEY MUST ALL DIE!!!
They're all fine and cute until you roll over onto one on your sleep and you wake up with an extremely pungent odor and a severe burning sensation when they puncture you with their 'beak' and the stink juice goes in. Not only does it wake you, it continues to hurt for an hour or more. Imagine if you had an infant and it happened to them? They're in plague proportions here.
Likewise here. I have to keep my home rather cold (50s) in order to keep them at bay. If I was to get the fireplace going they would come out in droves. UGHH someone has to solve our problem.
@Haarmonics How are they cute? they look like cockroaches. Come to NY, we have an invasion of them right now, I think your opinion on their cuteness would change.
Except they don't eat mosquitoes, they eat your fruit and veggies.
And they STINK!!! Damn, that smell they excrete is similar to a mix of hell, I dunno...almost rotten cardboard, it's a very odd, disgusting smell. The LEAST cute of any bug in the animal kingdom. If I saw this motherfucker on my keyboard...WHAP!! hahaha
@SilkenWinds yes, i would because mosquitos dont smell like shit... and when you get mosquito bites you can play connect the dots... cant do that with stinkbugs now can ya

if you kill them, the lingering odor (which other stinkbugs can pick up even if you cant) attracts more stinkbugs.

Theyr'e so cute. It's sad everyone hates them. Would you hate the stinkbug if it ate mosquitoes? No, I know you wouldn't.
