John McCain and Romney had to show their birth certificates to prove eligibility. I think the reason is because there is nothing legally in place that REQUIRES one to check it. This is why it was ASKED of them and the candidates GLADLY offered to show proof of their eligibility. I don't think McCain was eligible, even though he was legally cleared but apart from that I dont think the electoral college is REQUIRED to do that.

If Obama had a long form birth certificate you can bet he would have shown it by now. Obama showed us a COLB, which basically means he was born.........somewhere, a COLB "isn't" a birth certificate.
