Europe's largest shopping centre Westfield Stratford City (30th October 2011)

I have never been here but from the video footage it looks very badly designed to me.

It all looks so awkward, randomly laid out, too many pillars, too many balcony's to look down to lower levels which all together make 'Europe's Largest Mall' look rather cramped and small.

I like all the LCD screens giving it a modern feel, thats about it.

This shopping centre should make a fortune in the summer.

@footyball66 Perhaps the Westfield wanted to allow as much natural light into the mall as possible and as such the pillars were needed to maintain structural integrity.

It doesn't feel overwhelmingly big but maybe because traffic flows very nicely in the mall so it doesn't feel like a chore walking from end to end and inside and out. Do let me know your experience.

@capturedbytee I don't plan to go there but I just feel from your footage that it is a very awkward looking shopping centre.

I guess Westfield don't go for large open spaces, symmetry, organisation, they seem to go for the opposite.

If I was to design a mall it would be very easy to get around, symmetrical, lots of open space.
