I'm not so sure I am comfortable with what seems to be making fun of people with a serious mental illness. Maybe I just don't have the same sence of humor as some. I feel like this might only re-enforce peoples stigmas. hmmmmm. I know that I can often laugh at myself but when it comes to others I'm on the fence.
@kd91861 *~{;-) Thank you for sharing. My intention was not to make fun of people with mental illness as it was/is to share my experiences as one who has been diagnosed and treated for more than half my life as one. Treatment for mental illness, unfortunately, has evolved into little more that "management of symptoms with medications" that usually don't. In fact, most of those medications actually exacerbated symptoms rather than minimized them. And side effects... oh, can we talk about those!
@kd91861 dude, i just showed this to a bunch of loonies at the drop in center and they were laughing their ass off. If anyone has the audacity to set a bar on "what's funny" in this case, i suppose it would be them.
@FlyTheObserver I agree that people have the choice decide what they think is funny. I am speaking for myself, a person who has a serious mental illness and advocates in my community to help reduce stigma. I am not saying that I have not laughed at myself and my own challenges. I was voicing my point of view as someone who is aware of the stigma that having a mental illness brings with it. I know many who have challenges, they are first to find humor in situations that most people would not.
@kd91861 I think this beautiful woman is breaking free from the main stream thought of " if you 'do' the right things', and 'go to the wright shrink'. You will aviod pain. What is being exposed is no more than what God is excavating to show what is the real being. This is all our lots. This is the ego of all. So where is the mental illness? It is just a mind that has to be recognized as just that,... the mind. And this is mankind's mind, not her's alone. This is a beautiful end of self.
I think the reason you can't tell which meds work and which ones don't is because none of them really work. Some are better at numbing you to your experience, which should be celebrated as long as you are in control and don't pose a threat to yourself or others, talking too much to people who don't want to hear what you have to say is probably not good either, the camera was a good idea. :)
when i was medicated with up to six drugs i gained over 100 pounds in a years time. after going off them i lost about 15 pounds in a couple of weeks. My advice to anyone who sees a psychiatrist or any doctor for that matter: always ask about side effects. meds can be extremely helpful but beware of harmful side effects.
