The first Prototyp of the Piranha was a 10x10. they wuld offer also a 4x4 version but i think the 4x4 and 10x10 never get in production. Movag is now part of theUS General Dynamics (building primary for the Swiss, Dansk, German and other European Armys Eagels(swiss Hummer) Piranhas , Assault transporter and so one. the Striker is based on the Piranha

@1993heavenshallburn I can talk about the Stryker, for I was a Stryker commander and later Stryker section leader, now I don't about the Piranha... But for sure the Stryker is very modern, it has an on board simulator which is like a video game for my gunner to train when there is nothing going, it can self-diagnose and tell you what's wrong with it, but at the same time is a bit of a problem, because of all the tech it has, is very sensitive and at times tricky

The swiss army is defensiv only, and if you have to defend a terretory you knew so well, and where you have hidden your infrastructur and 4IC componets,hou have it easyer as an agresser who dident knew this all and has to establish first comunication and supplay. well the british army gets a many time bigger amount of money(for hardware and personal) as the swiss army. and the swiss army is a defenensive army.. to protect switzerland. the british is a ofensiv army (irak, afaganistan,...)

@nick21sammy well the Gulf war was possibly the only "boots on the ground" operation that the americans had rly succeeded in since world war 2 :P but again those failures stem from U.S. foreign policy not so much because of combat capability. us forces have experienced more combat in the last 50 years then all of western europe and have generally come out on top. Switzerland hasn't been involved in a conflict since the 19th century so we really have little data on their conbat dicipline.

the civil specalists go to work in civil clotes but if there is a higher defencecase they switch also to the camoclothes and are ready for wartime. i dont knew the number i guess about 70% are Miliz soldier, 15% fulltime Soldier, 5%the ones with the 2year contract and 10% the civil workers who can if necesary switch to fulltime military

@nick21sammy well the Gulf war was possibly the only "boots on the ground" operation that the americans had rly succeeded in since world war 2 :P but again those failures stem from U.S. foreign policy not so much because of combat capability. us forces have experienced more combat in the last 50 years then all of western europe and have generally come out on top. Switzerland hasn't been involved in a conflict since the 19th century so we really have little data on their conbat dicipline.

There is no Swiss Navy..no need for a navy because switzerland has no sea cost no acces to the sea. Of corse exist armourt fast gun boats for the lakes but they are part of the Army

Yes but the Alingi captain is is a Multimillionair with a lot of sponsors.. the poor swiss Military has no money to replace the over 30yo 54 F-5E with about 20new Aircrafts.. very sad.
The swiss Military most personal are Miliz Soldier (every swiss man has to do about 3-4 weeks military each year until he is about 34yo) som of them can made a 2 year contract and work this time for the Military. then there are also Military persons who do this as unlimitet fultime job. and some civil specialis

the civil specalists go to work in civil clotes but if there is a higher defencecase they switch also to the camoclothes and are ready for wartime. i dont knew the number i guess about 70% are Miliz soldier, 15% fulltime Soldier, 5%the ones with the 2year contract and 10% the civil workers who can if necesary switch to fulltime military

Mh i see what you mean but sitzerland was neutral in WW2 (we put every foreineng soldier in arrest who cross our border no mather if german, italian or french, US or Britan) Switzerland was too smal to act offensiv in ww2 but we prpairt well tofight germany if they would attack us. And you can not expect thath the smaler switzerland have thesame defence(or offencive ) level like the bigger French or german.(but i think the swiss army is better prepairt than the austrian

We have a pure defence Army , we dont invade other countrys . Swiss Military is helping with specialists all over the worold after eartquake, tsunamis etc. we have peaceforces in Kosovo and Korea. And by the way Switzerland is on of the 5 biggest suporter of the international red cross.

une derniere petite lecon d'Histoire Quentin, moi comme descendant directe d'un petit soldat francais de l'armee de l'Est sous le general Bourbaki, laquelle se faisait internée par les petits suisses apres leur defaite autour1870(Sedan) je pense que la petite Suisse a tousjours aidés aux gens en besoin, je pense autour de 30 milles soldat polonais qui ont defendu la France etaient internés en Suisse WWII, autour de 70milles gens qui ont la descendance suisse vivent en Amerique du Nord
