  • you all need to understand that this is a vol. company not a paid on.

  • 4 minutes and 45 seconds of pure Q. NICELY DONE. Save the electronic for when the Q decides one day to not work. Great vid.

  • You obviously don't work in a progressive area with a pre-emption system.

  • It is so sad when when firefighters put down other brother firefighters. At 4:15 traffic on the right was clearly stopped, and the driver had a very clear and long view to the left and could vey well see there was no traffic. You could have made the comment with out calling him a dickwees which makes you a very sand person

  • Got lucky with going through that read like 4:15

  • Aren't opicoms great? Great for getting thru heavy traffic.

  • Just FYI NFPA 1720 requires members of the Fire Service to arrive on a Fire Apparatus, not POVs. You open yourself to a big can of liability worms when you allow FD Vols to arrive in POVs on a fire scene. Other then that, good video. Love how you stretched that line.

  • i really agree i mean were volys so we never know if our trucks make it out full crew usually we dont every ones at work we allow povs with blue lights but my bar light slows me down id rather get there un noticed but usually i make the truck coming from mile away from station ..n yes this is all in first disp

  • i think that law is annoying yet i see the point, but then what happens is u can get kicked from the truck,n some people cant make a truck i respond pov mostly,we allow it,i was a ff in va n we had to be on shift at station then people wit more rank could boot u off truck really annoying for the person trying to get experience but the more exp guy should have last say

  • On an engine seating 4 the engineer & LT should be experienced, but they should leave the 4th seat open for the rookie. If there are too many people trying to get on the truck I suggest trying to do a weekly schedule or shifts, like that everyone gets a rotation.

  • Remember NFPA sets guidelines, not laws. This will be referenced in legal proceedings, however, if the individual department also has specific SOG's and SOP's and a firefighter is not following department SOG's, it would be negligence on the FF's part, typically not the FD.

  • Why is 1720 Important?

    • Establishes the "industry standard" for staffing and deployment as well as critical time standards.

    • Courts frequently rely upon NFPA standards to determine the "industry standard" for fire protection and safety measures.

    • If Congress fails to pass legislation setting industry safety standards, municipal governments nationwide are mandated to follow standards promulgated by an industry-wide trade group, such as the NFPA.

  • Risk Management

    • Therefore, any local government that fails to follow the NFPA 1720 Standard is subject to liability claims in the event of fire fighter and civilian injuries or death."

  • everyones a critic, great video, best part is hearing u responding.

  • smoke showing, love hearing that

  • awsome! at least you can also here alot of the action over the radio too

  • i saw one of ur guys didnt pack out why

??????? ur squirt arived with a crew of?wt 3 2 of em shouldive been packed out. .not trying to be a dick just pointing it out.

  • It's a 2-man Engine. The 2nd guy stretching the line was from an assist company as RIC. He responded in his POV and doesn't have an SCBA in his trunk. That was him running back to the Squirt for a pack.

  • oh ok got ya

  • nice horns!!! love the Q!!! sweet video dude!!!

  • VERY NICE VIDEO LOVE THE SIRENS

  • great vid

  • As we say in the aerospace biz, "You need to get yourself some structural velcro"! Great vid. Love the responses with the on scene arrivals.

  • Thanks for sounding like a fire truck and not like a fire truck AND an ambulance (please don't take personally, it's only my point of view).

  • good video, thanks for all you do!

  • Ahh,,Good one until that metro soup bowl helment!

  • ooo i see you were responding to box 4-1 ok i saw a 12 on your map book and i thought it was 44-12

  • well, i do know about the pre-emption systems, and they dont change all traffic signals on a dime. it just runs the light through the normal green to yellow to red cycle. some of the intersections in which they went through and it was red, you can clearly see all traffic on those roads had already stopped, the green signal just hadn't come up yet for the responding unit. they've probably made hundreds of responses like this with this system, they know what they are doing

  • Even blowing through everything you managed to have a 6+ minute response time and that's pushing the limits of ideal and that's from the time you left the station, that doesn't include the time between the time the call was made and the time you left the station. Maybe your city should think about adding some more stations for better response times.

  • The township has 3 stations,,, that truck was 3rd due,,, not sure what happened for the delay from the first due truck.

You obviously do not know anything about the pre-emption system,, you are welcome to ride along and see the system and understand how it works. And you would be very surprised to see that we do not drive 60 mph that you think.

  • I watched the video first and I'm glad someone had the same thoughts as I. You stop or at the very least slow down when coming to a red light or stop sign regardless of the excuse of blowing through it. Just because you are in a big truck with flashing lights and a mechanical Q doesn't mean you can blow through those doing 60MPH.

  • Opticoms are a great system; however, every state law has a clause stating "due regard". I won't preach here, but i will reference an active case in Wisconsin where a po-po was running 10-33 through a town and t-boned someone at a controlled intersection. He's now charged with negligent homicide by use of a motor vehicle for not operating his emergency vehicle with "due regard for the saftey of civilians around him". Please just be careful out there. If/When it ever hits the fan, it's on us.

  • you know something, I was just showing this video to some of my newer guys on driver training night and I noticed something. Your opti-com system is a re-notifier aka a system that indicates back to you that it rceived the signal and you're clear for the intersection. I looked at the red lights that were driven through and almost all of the reds that were driven through did not have the re-notification...

  • You guys might want to talk to your techie but that system doesn't seem to be working all that great! for those that aren't familiar, re-notification systems flash a clear/white light back at the direction the opti-com is coming from. You'll notice it on the green lights. It's usually mounted between two signal lights on the overhead standard. Just thought I'd point that out.

  • When the system was first installed,,, the light would change instantly,,, now for some reason, there is a delay,, the light stays green for cross traffic for a few seconds before changing,,, and once it is changed to full red for cross traffic, we get the white notification signal.

  • this vid is sweet stay safe guys

  • Nice Video. GREAT Fire App Engineer! Stay Safe!

    -West Coast Explorer

  • i saw the system, they should be used more often, i only saw one where it may have been red due to the angle of approach but i cant tell, anyway, who hasnt busted a few when you could see well and you were first due?

  • Somehow I DO NOT believe you. Your video shows different. I will give you credit that it is nice to watch though. Just be careful.

  • i see someone thinks they are a white hat

  • Not yet. But at your rate, or ideology, you will never make it there.

  • Great video! On things NOT to do. Someone needs to go back and learn to drive. How many red lights and stop signs did you run while the camera was down. I would hide this video from the chief.

  • Guess you didn't notice the pre-emption system. All lights were red for cross traffic. Stop sign #1, no cross traffic can be noted from 242 feet away,,, stop sign #3 had a patrol car in the intersection. You should.

  • THAT WAS GREAT!

  • good video
