Everything was broken into 2 sections. One was for white people and one was for African Americans. Such as bathrooms, water fountains, resturants, and buses. The Freedom rides was very dangerous and the riders needed signatures and at least 900 dollars. The first group had 10 people whom traveled from nashville to brimingham. They were arrested and dropped off at the state line.
•At the bus terminals blacks had to follow the colored signs, but the law had been changed and allowed everyone to use all facilities
•the FBI had to be informed before a ride, but agents were sometimes Klan members
•The TSU students had to raise $900 to send 10 people on the Freedom Ride, the entire city was their support team
•They went from Nashville to Birmingham they were placed in jail, the chief of police released them to the state line
