i agree this may be the orginal one but the american dub is better, the music is better and obviously the voices for me (though the japs voices in dbz are always really high pitched and that is so annoying)
The dub overexaggerated Fat Buu's childlike nature. It wasn't enough that he had the mentality and behavior of a child. He had to speak and sound like one too. Ugh, I just hated it. Anyways I love this scene, in Japanese too. There's this sort of rumbling sound that accompanies Goku's screaming that isn't there in the English version.
In the later episodes of DBZ (Buu saga) they don't take the super saiy-jin transformation seroiusly, theres no way Goten and Trunks could have got the power of when Goku,Gohan and Vegeta transformed. I believe they should have stopped at SSJ2.
This is not a debate on which version is better. If you don't like it, that's pefectly fine; I merely uploaded the video to let others watch the Japanese counterpart for those who haven't seen it. Their judgment is theirs to make. Some people seem to be adamant to show their support, which is admirable, but not when we are talking about a TV show.
His voice is weird. Krillin or however you spell it kinda sounds like Naruto. I don't like Goku's voice that much. He looks like a man, and his voice suits him only if he's a kid. I enjoy the English version better, other than the music. I don't understand how the English version is seen as some shit. The Jap. is more original, but I'm not a fan of female voice actors playing adult male characters. No matter how innocent he is, the look and voice just don't mesh right with me.
american kinda sounds better at this point because of the perfect screaming and the perfect music to go with it, this one sounds kinda... uhh... idk how to put it >.>
I always loved the japanese version better for the passion and the actual feel of uncertainty and drama thats placed into the anime...not so much as a feel of "look what I can do" but more like "i will show you my true strength and kill you" if that explanation makes any sense...
Super Sayayin 4 must look like a combination of Kim Bassinger, Nicole Kidman and Charlize teron wearing Victoria Secret, blondier than ever and shakin the ol world
What truly matters is about the voice actors, and how the episode is edited or kept the same. If you baby's are gonna complain about which version is better, read the manga, stop crying, and be a man for once.
English dub has it's weak points and strong points which make the other version s better at some points, or maybe even both version are equal. IMO, the American version's music is crappy, and Japanese version's music is great, but, it doesn't matter on the background music or music- it's not the real thing.
In the Spanish dub the characters sound more like in the Japanese version, and we get Japanese music instead of crappy American music. So Spanish Dub>English Dub. Japanese is still #1.
If it were a fact, noone would disagree with you. What you find unproportioned in voices suits others in taste. This also applies with music. Nobody is asking you to like the Japanese version, so I don't understand the need to discredit it. For some, the Japanese voices are befitting of the characters' personas, and find no awkwardness when seeing Goku in action, shouting, or view it as something that would weaken the characterization.
It's personal taste; there's nothing wrong with choosing one over the other. I like Japanese just because it's the original and direct source of what the creator intended it to be.
Nozawa does all the male members of the Son family. Turles(Tullice) too. I am just used to the American voices myself. Usualy when I get one of the movies I will watch the english version first and the Jap second just to compare. Now that I think about it I have watched them more in japenese than english. I don't hate either one,but I do respect the jap one more just because it is the original.
To all you Japanese haters: Shut up. The original is better than the dub. I like both versions.
To all you American haters: Same thing goes for you. Stop hating on the American version. The dub has some parts you may dislike, but you can't say it sucks. Both versions are great, leave it at that and grow up.
I agree with you, but there seems to be more haters posting than those who like it. I tend to explain why I enjoy the Japanese version, and use comparisons without ridiculing the other version knowingly.
great clip, this was the first episode ive ever seen of dragonballz and ive loved it ever since, the music the acting all top notch, it pulls you into the scene, as if you were standing with them throughout the whole transformation
What the fuck, dbz may be shit in the american version, but japanese version is a classic, and it was right when that person said that Nozawa's voice for adult goku was to symbolize his innocence, but that is because I saw the japanese version first. He only sounds like a girl when he powers up, not in actual talking, but so what, the english version sucks ass.
What really confused me was the slow techno music Funimation incorporated. How was that supposed to describe the scene? The music really removed itself from the moment and made it more of an inconvenience as oppose to the Japanese vers. that approriately used perfect background themes to set the mood.
I have opposite sentiments towards the American version, as if, they were straining their voices in order to fit what they perceived to be accurate portrayls of the characters; whereas, the Japanese seemed very natural to me.
I agree with you to an extent - [but] the Japanese voices felt like a perfect unison with the background sound, like any other would seem awkward. The tone in their voices went in sync with the bg sound. That's just my opinion.

sooner or later this clip will probably be banned by Toei Animation due to the copyright.. just like many other JP DBZ clips have been, which are some that I favorited.. damn. I loved that ssj2 Gohan episode in Japanese!
well and another thing they put music that doesn' t belong in the Dragon Ball Series i perfer the original and spanish versions because they are awsome my nickname is "Son Goten" its a pun in japanese meaning "Air and Heaven" i use the Son name by the way because i don't like to say Goku it doesn't make sense unless i say it "Son Goku" i respect the orginal because Akria toyiama is one of my favorite manga artists and my influence to be a character designer for video games compianese
also Son Goku means Sky and emptiness its a pun and also i watch the american version and sometimes they change the music around alot and also when its supposed to be quiet they talk while music is playing there music not original music
Rao007 is right the original is the best hands down i like the original i seen clips when i was little when DBZ was starting in america while i was watching some in the cell and buu sagas and i saw the freiza saga and sayien in the spanish and they keep it like the original version
In my point of view, all the characters' voices in the Japanese version were appropriate, including Gokou's. His voice was specifically picked by Akira Toriyama (fact) because, imho, it truly represented his personality. You can either insult my opinion, or accept that there are those who actually prefer the Japanese over the American version.
Also, please, try not to curse in here. Let's be civil:)
I've watched the majority of the American version - and I don't understand why the background sound resemble themes one would find on Super Nitendo games. And why are the voices so bland? Or is it because I'm more partial to the Japanese version? And why is there heavy metal rock on Dragon Ball Z movie 8?
One can bash the Japanese version all he/she wants - but when it comes down to the crux, it's all opinion or preference. To criticize the creators of DB on the basis of one's personal choice, the argument should also apply to the people who like American version.
You realize Trunks' voice actor was cast for the Trunks from the future when he was an adult and Goku's was cast when he was a child, right? Also, it's fucking sad when people think FUNimations terrible voice acting is better than the Japanese voice actors just because the characters sound like they're talking from the backs of their throats to make themselves sound more 'badass'.
You know what's really sad? The fact you took the time to type that out. Get over yourself japanophile and deal with my opinion, rather than try to defend a shitty cartoon.
Is there any particular reason you're calling me Japanophile? Is that just because my favorite show is Japanese? If I like Chinese food, would that make me a Chiniphile, too? Quite frankly, I don't care what you think of me, considering you're probably just a dumb kid. However, if you think it's such a shitty cartoon, why did you take the time to even post a comment on it? Why not go watch some videos you actually like?
Internet, opinions, etc. And, I like how you throw the term kid so loosley, also the reason I called you a Japanophile? Because you have posted 5 different comments defending this show. Drop it, get over it, go back to your life.
I'm posting so much on it now because I'm just getting sick of people having no respect for this original. I mean, it's okay if you don't like the show, but the fact of the matter is that Dragon Ball Z is Japanese, and that overglorified bullhonky of a dub wouldn't even exist without the original show, which includes all the effort put in by Nozawa and the rest of the voice actors.
Heh, I've never heard of 'Japanophile' before, who was the first to coin the term? I guess people who like the American version are 'Americanophile,' perhaps? A little banter doesn't hurt anybody, right? :)
The American Dub music was terrible. You can be an idiot and say the dub was better, but there's absolutely no way you can justify saying the music was better.
I do not mind Gokou's voice, as it went along with his jovial nature - so, I don't consider his voice child-like, per se, but a symbol of his guileless personality, which he exuded well. But, he could display his rage in a bat of an eye when protecting love ones, plainly felt when shouting.
It's one's preference whether Gokou's voice suits him, all relative. The American version seemed awkward when trying to express the subtleties of emotion, whereas, the Japanese version seemed very natural, relatively speaking, ranging from happiness to anger, which includes shouting.
I'm getting sick of seeing people bash Nozawa-san. Of course her voice suits Goku because her voice IS Goku's! It sounds like a little boy because she was cast when Goku was a child, and he always maintains that childish character.
