The wisdom literature fell into disfavor in the West. Sirach, the Wisdom of Solomon, Tobit, and Baruch were ejected from the Protestant canon entirely; the three wisdom books which remained—Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job—were either reinterpreted in terms of Reformation theology of soteriology and ecclesiology.
