  • Damn! Why cant they hurry up and finish making the movie!

  • Can't freaken wait!!

  • I'm reading the book now. It's kind of hard to get into

  • i've read the book!

i think the movies isn't goign to be too bad ill be sure to watch it!

Thats my rule if i read book and there's movie abotu it i must watch it and see the differences xD

  • @estesoyojajaja Jack the Ripper was the first well-known British serial killer, while H. H. Holmes was the first well-known American serial killer. They are both firsts, which is why they are related, I suppose.

  • it's not a novel.

  • Wow, yours was really well done. Would you mind checking out my trailer?

  • Excellent!

  • Well done on the makeshift trailer, mate

  • i have the book the movie will probably be as great

  • i cant wait to see leonardo dicapiro in this movie its going to be the best!!!!

  • this makes my trailer for devil in the white city i made for my lit class seem like garbage D:<

  • Is this real or did someone just make a youtube video about this amazing book?

  • Reminds me of SAW !

  • cool trailer but god awfull book probubly the worst iv read

  • This is actually quite well done. Book would make a good movie.

  • I am currently reading this book and finding the construction aspect of the novel particularly boring and hard to get through. If they were to produce the book into a film, hopefully they would focus on Holmes so to keep the audience in tune.

  • One of the best books Ive read in the last ten years. I would call it non-fiction...but its slightly off the reality track of what happened. I cannot wait to see this made into a movie......the last time I felt this anticipation was for "The Road". Thanks for the upload!

  • sick, check out my trailer, its awsome.

  • strollosweets is right. Holmes killed people by puttin them in a kiln not by silently knifing them

  • @SimplerMachine the kiln was built to erase evidence....he killed his victims first then burned the evidence

  • he is portrayed a lot like Jack the Ripper, im reading the book tryign to see if i can watch the movie

  • H. H. holmes is portrayed like jack the ripper too much

  • Bravo! You've done a very good job with your trailer. I just finished the book on which you based your offering and would love to see it made into a film.

Unfortunately, it would have to center on Holmes in order to keep the audience, but CGI could reproduce the spendor of the White City and would alone be worth admission.

  • does this movie exist

  • I personally think the book is unfilmable. The general movie audience wouldn't like a film that focuses on architecture. And if they ever do make a film about H.H. Holmes, it will be a standard slasher flick to please the torture porn crowd.

  • omg i freaking love this book. i would probably throw up if they made it into a movie i would be SO excited. they should cast james marsden as HH Holmes.

  • @preppybeast6293 nice choice

  • @preppybeast6293 by the way, they are making this into a movie

  • @preppybeast6293

ME TOO!.... HOW ABOUT OBAMA AS H.H. HOMES!

  • @preppybeast6293 I loved the book as well but I think Joseph Gordon Levitt would be a better choice. He is by far a better actor and hasnt had a chance to stretch this far.......I think he would bring HH Holmes to the level that Heath Ledger did as the Joker. I can picture him prim and dapper.....drawing in the audience.

  • @preppybeast6293 they are making it into a movie now with leonardo dicaprio

  • @preppybeast6293 I do not get it. What it has to do Jack the ripper with H.H.Holmes?, i mean, the scene with the guy holding a knife and wearing top hat and that, is a scene from the film FROM HELL, wich talck about Jack the Ripper, and Holmes was an american.

  • @preppybeast6293 they are making a movie of it, its coming out prob 2010. starring Leo Dicaprio...so its probably (or i hope so) gonna be awesome.

  • @FlightlessBird777 I actually think its coming out 2013? but I don't think anyone knows for sure

  • @preppybeast6293 oopss sorry, like 100 ppl already told u..

  • @preppybeast6293 They ARE! With Leonardo DiCaprio as HH Holmes. I believe it's coming out next year.

  • @TVlover014 2013 starring leo dicaprio as hh holmes :)

  • @ezrakata FUUUUUU- So excited!!!! :DDDD

  • @preppybeast6293 leonardo dicaprio is gonna play him..kinda close :))))

  • @preppybeast6293 i wonder how your feeling right about now. DiCaprio will be playing in the devil in the white city movie coming out :)!

  • This is excellent. I LOVE this book and I would love to see it made into a film as long is it is true to the story.

  • nice trailer! I've read the book halfway and decided to return it to the library because I was taking too long to read it. Does the story gets more exciting later on??

  • @juliaCSL it gets much better at the end

  • how can you find one man with the whole world watching is the stupidest comment i have ever read. if 6 billion people are looking for one fucking guy their gonna find him

  • nice one.

  • nono if the whole world is watching the fair not him

  • Pretty good until you started mixing it with unrelated clips from a Johnny Depp movie.

  • I'm reading the book right now (beacause I have to for summer reading). I sucks so far.

  • I'm reading the book now and it's frigging boring. OMG.

  • me too! the part I'm at is pretty boring! hopefully I get by it and it gets betterrrr!!

  • It won't I promise you.

  • H.H. Holmes didn't use knifes haha...

  • man dis book was crzy good

  • not the real trailer, ive seen From Hell, duuhh, its good though, i cant do stuff like this :)

  • maybe i'm stupid ,but the scene in this trailer of h.h.holmes is very resembling to jack the ripper.....

  • Awesome, now i definitely want to go and read it!

They should really make a movie about this, it's begging for one!

  • Patrick Wilson should play H.H. Holmes

  • This is incredibly well done. However, Erik Larson is a non-fiction writer, not a novelist. There is no such thing as a non-fiction novel. If it's a novel, it's fiction.

  • I think there is a time-honored gray area. Consider Daniel Defoe's "Journal of the Plague Year." A day-by-day account of the London Plague of 1665, written in the first person by man ostensibly living through the event, it was in fact published in 1722, Defoe having been only 5 years old in 1665. It's considered the prototypical "nonfiction novel," predating Capote by nearly 250 years.

  • My understanding is that the genre is historical fiction; where in the writer infuses actual events with fictionalized linkage-dialogue/events.

  • Except that none of the dialogue in Devil in the White City is fictional-- Larson only used quotes when they were really said, either in letters, interviews or diaries. He didn't fictionalize anything about the story.

  • Dude, This is not the real trailer? it looks so real and good! nice Job I thought i was watching the real Trailer.

  • I just finished reading the book. Jack the Ripper was a saint compared to H. H. Holmes, the sicko freak. Holmes was obviously insane to have committed all these murders. What he did to these women and children is beyond the imagination. He's rotting in hell, where he belongs.

  • this ones alot better than mine. -cry-

  • absolutely brilliant. my only criticism is the music backing the preview. a preview has to be convincing, and the sampled score must force an emotional pull from the viewer. the latter part was great in that it sent chills down my spine, but the first 45 seconds needs work (although do I understand you're limited with visuals... but music creates an effect that gives it animation). overall, great preview.

  • Not bad! The real deal will be hidiously expensive. Fun to imagine what the White City will look like.

  • yeah becuase its definetley fun to imagine people being gassed and tortured to death

    :)

  • it really is.

  • ha yeah i'm sure that's what mattcash was referring to. the grandeur of the white city, as in the world's fair, would definitely be fun to imagine. it's so stupid to think that he meant imagining people being gassed and tortured. you're dumb.

  • lol i was being sarcastic

  • lol oh shit!

  • i just finished this book and i was looking for a video to use to talk about it and i am using this one. You did a wonderful job. i love all the displays of the world fair and the music. this looks professional. I was so captivated by it. give yourself a pat on the back. it is well deserved

  • This is seriously awesome. You are talented. No doubt when the real movie trailer comes out it will fall short of this one.

  • Paramount owns the rights. Scheduled for release in 2009. No cast or director yet. expect tons of CGI. All of the buildings are gone but the wooded isle id still there. The recently discovered the foundations for the Ferris Wheel. I'm from Chicago so I am excited about the prospect of seeing this book come to life

  • I read Cruise/Wagner Productions owns the rights to the movie adaption and there has been no official announcment of when/if production with happen.

  • Awesome trailer! The best i have seen!

  • I wish it was a real trailer! It would be great to see a movie made from the book.

  • Fantastic mock trailer! Too bad there hasn't been a movie based on this story.

  • this is pretty well done

  • Wait a damn minute. Nice preview EXCEPT it has the feel of "jack the Ripper". Top hats? Capes in the dark? cobblestone alleys? God, I hope they don't screw up this marvelous book.

  • i dont think you read the description above and to the right... it's a mock trailer. meaning it isn't real. the "jack the ripper. Top hats? Capes in the dark?" etc are from the movie From Hell... which is about jack the ripper. but it is a great book.

  • You are correct and thanks for pointing that out. I missed it entirely. I am so anxious that a good movie be made from this extraordinary book.

  • this is at the exact same time as jack the ripper... so its not odd for them to be wearing the same stuff.

  • the great thing about the book was the setting of these two stories against each other. so much information in each story though, it seems the film will have to favor one (probably the tale of the killer), though from this preview it looks like they will try to tell both. i hope they succeed. they are great stories.

  • Well done. Definitely gives the feel of the best parts of the book.

  • What is the name of that orchestral piece in the beginning? It's beautiful..

  • I picked up the book in Chicago on the way to Paris, where I have been reading it. Very nice trailer. Very compelling.

  • beautifully done--loved watching this

  • Wonderful. Great 3D effects!

  • SPECTACULAR VID...I love studying the world's fair!
