Here's a nice idea, but it won't happen. Paint the new TTC Subway trains like the old Gloucester cars. Keep nostalgia alive. Keep a introduce a part of history to future generations.
Truly classic! The guard's whistles; the lights flickering as the third rail changed from one side of the train to the other; the squealing brakes. And in the summer you could have the windows open for that hot, humid, smelly air!
Finding videos of the M1 will be the hardest videos like this video here of the Gloucesters are very rare and I dont think any video of an M1 exist at all.
@GTAfan8850 GPS Video But not the ride of it like a documantary looking at it and also the test cars and the acceleration and deceleration and stuff glad I can be help oh and the G1 video is the Farewell ride and its a ctual ride
@ROBLOXLover24 THANK YOU MY GOD but yes I actually found the M1 subway video. I know it kinda sounds like the acceleration of the H1 and H4 any idea how else the M1 and Gloucesters sound like the video above the audio isn't that clear though.
@GTAfan8850 Theres a September 30th 1990 G1 Subway ride with CLEAR audio be sure to watch it on that website too and glad I can be help to you GTAfan8850
Wow! You actually see a glimpse of Bloor Station with the original wall tiles, before they expanded the station. Thanks so very much for posting this. Truly a flashback! :)
I did notice that 2 whistles before doors close - I still have an Old Ride Guide from 1991 which mentioned that, but I didn't get to ride the TTC back during my 36 hours in TO in 1991 - Were the whistles still in effect in 1991?
@goldeneye0 Yep, they still were. Most trains had the chimes installed around 1993-1994, but the M1 cars had the whistle right up until they were retired in 1999
@ROBLOXLover24 Yeah, it would be nice to get a ride of one. Back then before I was born the H1s didn't have chimes, the only train I saw without chimes was the M1s. By the time the H1s were retiring they had chimes, same for the H2, and H4.
After so many years searching, I have finally found a video of the Gloucester cars and I almost passed out when I found this video. What an excellent footage where did you find this?
I rather ride in these again instead of the crap new subways.

I loved those trains when I was a kid especially when the lights went out while riding. They have streetcars similar to the train.

@derekli04 Very much a pity... but no. All the old cars have been scrapped. I believe there's one on display at the museum in Milton, Ont.
