It's kind of dumb that he didn't pay 700 dollars to get the dogs leg splinted, so they took it, fixed it's leg, and he only had to pay 250$

@27alli That was just the bond for court costs. The full segment on the Animal Cops show added that he had to reimburse the shelter for court costs and vet costs. I don't remember the exact number, but they made a point to state that he was paying double or triple what he would have paid had he just let the vet do their job.
