@capath I got into them the same time that I got into Underoath. So that's who I always associate them with. Same with The Devil Wears Prada. All christian bands. I'm not into that, but it's good music anyway. Thrice had a song called The Flame Deluge, really similar to this song particularly.
pretend you are in a field and a storm begins and the song is completely surrounding you and it gets louder and louder and the storm gets worse and worse atomspheric and those same 5, 6 words wake up wake up no passenger, no parasite getting louder and louder and louder and louder and then they start pounding screaming the words at the top of the lungs then all of a sudden the storm is over, the song ends and everything is perfectly calm you wake up open your eyes and you are standing before God
the majority of lyrics are from the book "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis, in which Lewis describes a fully Christian society as having "no passengers or parasites"
Gosh, this litterally ends my unconsiderate love of this song. I thought of a better meaning to this song, perhaps environmental. But a fully Christian society, it's above me ability to understand.
I saw an interview article with Norma Jean and the lead singer said he got it from some writer who was saying you can't take your friends with you to heaven so tell them to wake up.
I Don't think it has any real meaning, it's more to let you make your own meaning, But...
No passengers no parasite simply means if there isn't a passenger, there wont be a parasite(due to lack of passenger) passenger and parasite could be any 2 things though, hence making your own meaning.
I relate this song with bands like Isis. Anybody know some bands that sound like this song? I'm fascinated by the genre.
