  • what is that song? it's in baker 3.

  • @sohayes

    watch?v=bkG9BKgDvNI

Simple Minds also did a pretty good cover of it.

  • This is my opinion about DH :

...because the line between art and garbage can be thin.

Sometimes even artists cannot see it.

  • damian hurst is NOT cool and neither is his art

  • @closetome whatever... come on youre a complete dork how would you whats cool, you just know what you do and dont like.

  • 0:32. That contemptuous "pulled it off" followed by the coke snort says it all.

  • a true swindler. An inhumane monster. I completely understand his work. You want art? sign your name on everything you see. Everything is art. Nothing is art.

  • The great thing about art is that it can be whatever you want it to me, it can be universally recognised or perhaps only central to yourself and THAT is its beauty. Its not like Maths, there is no right or wrong.

Poncy, elitists like those that are commenting here are what ruin art. I admire strong artistic skill and technique but that is not the be all and end all and clearly you're all forgetting that. Rembrandt and Schiele should be remembered but no more than Hirst or Emin.

  • None of the art society or its smarmy toffs are going to dictate to me what is emotionally, conceptually and/or visually captivating or worthwhile.

  • 'mind the crap'

  • When you produce crap, you need a good publicity machine to sell it. The publicity machine is that well-connected network of media lovelies, rich people and well-located exhibition space. He could put a dog turd in silver soup tureen, let his media lovelies knows that it is going on exhibition in a well located spot and have some rich bugger come and buy it. That's conceptual art.

  • these death worshipping scum like damien hirst are satanists who represent this macabre reversal of all that is good and beautiful in nature

just know REAL HUMAN BEINGS dont look up to or are impressed by trash like this buffoon

  • @razed1 Ah shut up. I cant stand these people that declare that a piece of art or its artist aren't worth a damn because its not all about precious beauty. Talk about an age old roman catholic view of art.

Hirst is an inspiration because hes not all about poncey pretty pictures that just flaunt artistic technique. He finds beauty and thought in some of the things we might never see it in.. rotting carcasses, fragility of life, death.

  • what other things to celebrate in LIFE , then beauty and natures glory,

its only you deathworshiping cult , some shallow materialistic yuppy that thinks that worshipping death, and calling it 'art', is something to revered,

these ppl like 'damien' are a buncha vampires, like some cancer on the earth, some virus thats infected this planet

ignorant western civilised suckers, your like some bacteria living in a artificially induced environment, you dont know what the meaning of 'Art' is

  • I am a Fine Arts Degree graduate of 1986 and I do adore Surrealism, Pre-Raphaelite, and enjoy mainly the works of Rosetti and Dali but I cannot grasp Hirst's work at all.His whole concept of the media he uses is to shock, to repulse. I cannot help but feel that he is so contrived and has played the system very well to his own advantage. I don't find anything attractive about his work at all. And to sell a work consisting of spent cigarette butts on a shelf was beyond belief.

  • perhaps your right about the ciggy butts, however i find i can understand Hirst's work better when looking at it in relation to his interest in Francis Bacon.

  • what is there to understand? he makes it and people are stupid enough to pay big money for it. Early painting was done as a way of capturing a scene, that was replaced by photography, computer art replaced the surrealist painters, but there will always be a place for installation art, seeing it in a gallery space is what makes the whole thing work..

I SUGGEST you check out 'An Oak Tree' by Michael craig martin, genius ha!
