I don't think people understand that it's not just picking up hair. If you suffer from allergies- esp dust, pet dander and hair, you know you'll go out there and get the top notch for the sake of yourself, the pets and your home. It's not just picking up hair, it's sucking up all the debris and dust that's deep in your carpet that hasn't been sucked up for days, months or even years. and it just piles on!
I just saw how much this thing costs! Hell, at that price, you could probably vacuum your pet completely bald if you wanted to! Do you really have to spend almost $600.00 for a good vacuum to pick up cat hair? I have 2 cats but that's a bit steep.

ok now that you did it with that vacuum, take just a generic 30.00 vacuum from walmart and do it with that just over the cleaned spot that the dyson did. you will be AMAZED at how much more stuff comes out of the carpet. trust me ive tried

sounds like the brush height is set too low because the motor is slowing down.
I found my Dyson picks up much more than standard vac cleaners

Dysons tend to push a lot of the dirt and grit deep into the carpet pile rather than picking it up
