I love Oleta and especially this song. Used to listen to this all the time when my dad was seriously ill and was praying he would make it. Unfortunately he didn't. And this song and others from Oleta were too painful to listen to for years, they were sort of banned. Now more than 15 years are gone and I'm all in tears when I hear this... Shes such a great singer and musician but the record people have no idea of how to sell her. As is evident in the videos or lack of them on youtube. Seeing her perform the song live and in the studio works better than any of the pomo videos. Great to see and hear this one! You can certainly hear the gospel influences in her work but you couldn't really put her in any one particular category.

Maybe she doesn't want to be sold. A few thoughts. Her gospel intersts are not diminishing like many who are trying to achieve "fame". She's miles above any of the existing mainstream. She does limited touring with her husband on drums and they seem to be content with that. She doesn't need to show skin, shake booty or have wardrobe malfunctions to sell records. Probably under the radar by choice. If you get a chance to see her live, you'd better not miss the opportunity. She's a "great".

@hendrikjanvanduin A popular brand of this device is Popper Stopper, which, as the name states, helps to prevent the blunt thud made by the letter p and the hissing that can occur with the letter s!
