The player controls the scuba diver.

Purpose of the game is to catch the little fish as many times as possible, avoiding the shark.

Time is limited, and being caught by the shark blocks the diver for a little time.

On the video, I'm trying to catch the fish, and sometimes I let the shark catch the diver so that the corresponding sound plays.

Looks like a fun little game there.

Not sure if you know this, but there's also a video game just called "Shark", also released in 1975, although the objective is much different, and there are 4 players.

Is the source of the sound coming from a tape, or the circuitry?

Sound is created by a mix of TTL / analog chips, and uses a spring reverb device.

There's no tape. :)
