Yeah the F-4  Phantom might have been THE airplane at the time of Viet Nam, but those smart assholes in Washing D.C. did not think that this airplane needed guns, they were proven wrong on a LOT of occassions, especially when the Sidewinders and the Sparrows did not do well in the heat of Viet nam, something the engineers of the missiles did not think about.

America mainly lost the war by using conventional tactics against an unconventional foe, that along with the long drawn out war sapped morale back home, they basically were not allowed to win or hold territory, the enemy maintained large sanctuaries in Laos and Cambodia that were off-limits to ground invasion. Basically the war was unwinnable as we fought it, much as Iraq was until we learned how to fight unconventionally too. :)

I thought the F-111 was the most advanced fighter used in Vietnam. I may be mistaken but I thought it was the only supersonic capable fighter at just above ground level. At least that is what a USAF F-111 jockey told me and he used that to evade SAMs.

LOMAC does not have a MiG-21 the engine. I had to make use of the Su-22 fitter instead...

If I had better resources I would have used an actual MiG-21 Fishbed aircraft model and an F-4 Phantom cockpit...but I simply did not have the time...

Thankfully my history teacher is not an airplane buff and didn't notice the difference. I got an A regardless!
