I will post video shortly of officers calmly leading away others who had wandered behind the barrier, including the woman Derek is talking to at the end of the video.
You are so biased that you cannot see the simple cause and effect relationship here. There is an angry crowd pushing against the cops and some guy(cops aren't mind readers) runs at them behind their lines and then struggles when grabbed. What colour is the sky in your world drryll?
@bigjdaddyo As I said before the only other people who were arrested this way were people who were pushing against the fence. Other people who found another way back there like Derek did were merely being led out by the arm. The cause and effect I saw was that if you were pushing against the fence to get in, you were restrained and arrested. If you wandered around the barricade for another reason you were escorted away. Derek fell into the latter, but was treated like the former.
My point - and I'll spell it out because you seem to need it - is that if you run towards police(behind their lines at that) during a event where numerous people are actively pushing against the police - then you can expect to get tackled and taken down to the ground. And if you resist, then you will be taken down forcefully - hardly a whimsical or random assault.
@bigjdaddyo So you are telling me that if you were unexpectedly tossed headfirst into a metal barrier you wouldn't feel angry with person who did it? Also, he wasn't trying to strike the cop, he was gesturing at him, the swung his arm over his head and down, he had more than enough reach to punch the officer if he was so inclined. So far your point seems to be that as long as there is a tense situation cops can assault whoever they please, I heartily disagree.
Well there you said it: "would your initial response be clear and rational". So you concede that his response was otherwise - therby exonerating the police from arresting a person acting in an irrational way - running at them behind their lines... Thanks for making my point Drryll.

@bigjdaddyo At this point his camera had been picked up by a security guard, he was pointing in that guards direction asking about his camera. He has one arm up and an umbrella under the other, hardly a threatening posture. Other people who got back there were merely being led out by the arm. Derek is a known activist against corruption in the Toronto Police Service.
@drryll LOL Derek is a known activist against corruption in the Toronto Police Service, beyond what he tells you, have you ever take the time to really look at the videos he posts, and what he does to get attention ? Derek is an instigator, at the G20 he mooned a group of riot officers, and he is constantly getting into the personal space of officers to get pictures, yet he has a zoom lens on his camera. Derek is a joke, a total fraud, and if you look to him as an activist your a moron.

I guess people can just be arrested at any point for no/any reason. Why don't we just come out of the womb under arrest until proven innocent.
