Education is the endgame? Not tactics and documentation aplenty on that war and playing army with your buds? Not wearing neat outfits and playing dead? Not putting enough spin that jkids will forget their even were slaves, and Confederate ones mexiacans and Indians to boot? Historys defined purpose is to learn from our mistakes, put up a whipping post with a bloody black man on it. Let a few thousand men lay down and spray canned spew odor across the field.
A black man in grey? Hmm maybe free and dead was better then a slave, period. Its useless to cite union atrocities the war of words of someone with a hidden agenda. The union was the lesser of two evils and 200 years to late. Every man in the US life was worth squat until slavery stopped. A civil war reenactment is a moron convention. The abberation of humanity and that wars sting dilluted by scholars who throw spin on the fact that idiots & the arrogant owned humans by speaing of states rights
Many were forced yes, much like the Irish were forced right off the boats, its called drafting and both sides used the tactic.
Many blacks wearing gray were freed men, and an estimated 300 thousand served in combat, most of the time in an attempt to save there own lives from union skirmishers.
Mexicans also Id like to point out there active duty in the Confederate army.
Thousands of Mexicans served in the Confederacy as vollunteers, most of which were from Texas.
Id also like to add the Cherokee were loyal to the Southern Cause, as they South promised the Indians land titles, and exclusive use of Oklahoma territory.
The indians in Oklahoma were loyal to the south till the end, yes there loyalty was fueled by there hatred of the United States but there loyalty was true.
Stand Watie was one of the last Confederate holdouts.
The whites surrendered the Cherokee fought on under the southern banner.
Also there were Tens of thousands of blacks in gray.
My point was the north has far more people with no Pre-USA history then people who do.
While the south has far more people who have long historys in North America.
Also Id like to point out the south was FAR less populated then the north especially in the early years and intermarriage was far more common in the sparcely populated south then the north.
After all its fact the main driveing force behind anglos in North America marrying indians was the lack of female settlers early on.
@TexianPride Once again, you're point is noted, and rejected. I grew up in a Northern commonwealth. The majority of people in my home town traced thier ancestry IN THAT REGION ALONE, to before the Revolution...try, try, again.
You haven't spent much time in places like western NY, PA, or MN, MI, or ME, have you?
LOL..SAME dynamic in EVERY frontier area in every region of the country. Not just the South.
Also I was just going to ignore the rest of your half baked comments as they are completely pointless and are more of the same we hear from ignorant yankees trying to blame southerners for there own imperialism greed and war but I have to ask what the hell you meant by Texas didnt exist when Philidelphia was the second largest English speaking city.
Did you just come accross this info and had to mention it no matter if it had absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter?
Thank you for this - I had NO idea that the Civil War was carried to the Arizona Territory. I was at Fort Huachuca for quite a few years (Proud home of the Buffalo Soldier) and drove I-10 alot between Sierra Vista and Tuscon - I did not realize it was hallowed ground. This is history. We must learn from our mistakes - Only in that way can we mature as a country and not slide into an empirical nightmare, which could shatter it as it was shattered in 1861
After all our only crime was slavery and we Confederates only had slavery for four years while the United States is guilty of nerly 90 years of slavery then on top of that the US is guilty of another 100 years of inequality and bigotry.
After all blacks were only made equal to whites in the 1960s a full 100 years after us bad southerners were punished.
In the end the US is guilty of every crime the Confederacy is on top of hundreds of years of imperialism and bigotry good day to you
@TexianPride LOL the ONLY reason the US was founded as a slave nation, was because Southern states refused to ratify the Constitution without it.
Civil Rights would have come immediately following the Civil War, if not for the failure of Reconstruction, largely due to the war of terror waged by former Confederates in the South. Ever hear of people like the Redshirts?
Thomas Jefferson (Southerner) put the US on the road to imperialism. Ever hear of the Louisiana Purchase?
Being expansionist through peace is different then Expansionist through war and conquest.
Civil rights after the war?
Thats proven wrong by the actions of the northern states after the war.
It was made clear the northern states did NOT want to make blacks equal to them, they wanted them to be free of slavery but the idea of a black man being equal to a white was insane to them
@TexianPride HAHAHA...you need to inform what's left of the native populations of the LP, of that fact. BTW...Jefferson was in favor of Indian removal.
Hmmm...my home Commonwealth's legislature voted to desegregate public schools in 1888. Before the Civil War, the legislature was funding higher education for Black men.
How 'bout south of the Mason/Dixon line?
As I've stated, whites in PA thought enough about Blacks to risk life & property, hiding them from the ANV.
@UnionStatesHeritage My lord and I thought I was passionate, you sir have to much time on your hands and need to find another hobby, Im off to go do somthing productive.
Somthing you clearly are not willing to do.
I want you to think about your lop sided one side takes all version of history and ask yourself am I changeing anyones minds?
No, you are not.
Just as I cannot change your mind you cannot change mine or any other southerners mind.
@TexianPride Actually, you'd be surprised how many people's minds change about the Confederacy, after I direct them to The Cornerstone Speech, and similar documents, and they get a chance to read the reality for themselves.
One guy from Scotland who was a CSA supporter changed his mind after reading up on some of my "lopsided history" on his own. His advice to me..."keep annoying them with the truth".
@UnionStatesHeritage Yes, but did you tell them that 96% of Southerners didn't own slaves? And I guess if the it was just for the Yankees to invade the South for your "slavery," than it must've been just for the British to shoot us for revolting against technically lawful taxes. And you know that the last Confederate to surrender was an American Indian, right?
@RebelSoldat1 Doesn't matter how many Southerners owned slaves. BTW...the inability to own slaves, does not assume opposition to the institution. The CSA was founded by and for slave owners.
You can't invade your own country. The Union was suppressing a rebellion, which it had every right to do.
LOL...Stand Waite was NOT full blood Cherokee. He was also a slave-owning planter, and he persecuted full-blood Cherokee (like John Ross) who wanted to remain neutral in the conflict.
Lets think about this Lets have a look at some of the countries the US has been at war with Various indian tribes England Canada Mexico Southern Confederacy Spain Germany Philpeanes Japan Italy Barbary wars in North Africa Austria Hungary North Korea North Vietnam Iraq Somalia Afganistan Im sure Im missing a few but assumeing there all there Was the US right in all these wars were we the "good guys"? Surely its obvious to you the US is guilty of far worse crimes then the little ol south
@TexianPride The wars against the Seminole, the Creek, the Cherokee, and the Comanche were ALL in support of Southern interests. The Mexican War was the first war the South fought for the expansion of slavery. That war was opposed by New England, which by the way, has a long history of opposing wars. The South...usually supports whatever war we are in...including the ones in Iraq & Afghanistan.
US would be a much less belligerent nation, without the South.
@TexianPride Hmmm...as I recall the massacres DURING the CW against the Cheyenne (and Arapaho) were spearheaded by territorial militias, led by people like Chivington.
What about the genocidal war the CSA was busy waging against the Comanche?
The war of 1812 was started by Southerners and opposed by New England.
Pretty simple...additional Southern territory which would provide for the expansion of slavery westward.
@TexianPride LOL...how do you think Southern states got settled, brilliance? Slaughtering the po ole Injuns. White Southerners did not assimilate natives into their society, and live in harmony with them, as a rule, any more than whites assimilated anywhere else.
The reason Southerners have so much Indian blood is obvious OUR ANCESTORS HAVE BEEN HERE FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS.
My family arrived in 1690 theyve been here for nearly a hundred years before the US even became a country most southerners have been here for hudreds of years.
The north on the other hand is dominated by immigrants who have only been in the US for a few generations.
The south is hardly innocent however we arent guilty of any crimes the US isnt
@TexianPride BS...ANYONE whose ancestors came here prior to 1700 is likely to have some Native heritage. Newsflash...there's a lot of Northerners whose ancestors have been here as long or longer than yours. Mine settled in Massachusstts in 1637.
You're a typical arrogant Southerner who shoots off his mouth, without knowing what he's talking about. By the way, Texas didn't exist when Philadelphia was the second largest English speaking city in the world, after London. Think about that.
@THEFLYINGREDNECK, unfortunally for the South they could only muster or army of 1,000,000 men even if they allowed Blacks to fight. The Union had 3,000,000 troops available for deployment plus endless supplies of artillery and other war material. Sorry, The South loses anyway or fails to deliver a knock out blow to the union unless they make it possible with military vaictories in the field an election of McMellan.
@htxsouth713 The Confederacy is our history and it was our proudest moment we stood against an army many times larger then our own and fought to our last breath.
The south stood proudly among the nations of the world for four years.
We showed more courage in that 4 years then the US has in its last 170 years.
You love the South well we are the decedants of the Confederacy we are the end result of four years of hard war with the United States.
@TexianPride Americans showed bravery during the revolution, bravery beating you guys, bravery in countless wars fought in the name of America. Just remember you guys lost, your cities were burned, your women raped. That is why America has 50 states. I'm a proud Michigander.
@fanatics546 Yes America was so very brave while commiting genocide against the American Indians whom I am decended from. Yes the extermination of nearly an entire race of people because the United States didnt want them there is very brave.
The rape and murder of thousands of innocent civilians and the burning of countless acres of land which resulted in death and starvation of women and children is somthing to be proud of youre a sick fuck you know that?
@TexianPride Yeah and im sure the south was innocent, what with slavery and all. Guess you believe non whites are inferior and should be beaten and enslaved, that its okay to have your way with a colored woman, but if a colored man even looks at a white woman he should be castrated. By the way, Americans fighting for independence, beating the south, saving the world from Germany and the terrorists is brave. World would be in a bad place without what America has done.
