This is my favorite rendition of the Anna leonowens story with her adventure with the King. Chow Yun Fat is simply heartwrenching in his portrayal of Kin Mongkut and Jodie Foster is Epically wonderful as always

There was many reason explained why this movie was ban in Thailand and the main reason is distortion Thailand history.

For amusement I can say yes! it acceptable but if it were your family's story or your nation's history. Will you say that you don't care?

@jedibeta I think its perfectly fine if history is distorted or romanticized and displayed but the film should have a bold notice saying "Things shown are fictional". The real problems starts when people distort history and put a claim on the cover as a fact as in Da Vinci Code.

this DVD was in our living room for nearly 10 years,untouched, never seen...so I grabbed it yesterday,and watched it. In the intro, I saw (surprise!) Tom Felton *+* as the lovely,curious,british kiddie Louis. Wouh,happiness..so no the rest of the movie is very good, I love this culture crash AND I am asian. Another is that King Mongkut was already a very old man when he and Anna met and he was a monk for many years and so he was a very religious person, to say that he ordered an execution would
