i have a 30 gb zune and i had to change my hard drive so i got a 80 gb i try to restore the firmware but when it tries to install it says that my hard drive is full and cannot install what can i do?????

Dude if they come out with a 160GB Zune with EQ/bass boost and a bit longer battery life, I will be happy. :) I refuse to buy an iPood because I believe in music players should play music. lol. And Zune has better sound cards.

It's never possible to make 2 hard drives in one Zune. Take A bigger hard drive or take the switch.

But I think the switch is a bad idea.

This was done back when the Zune first came out. The biggest drive you could get was 80GB. I have Modifyed it again and it now has 3 - 80GB hard drives. I keep it at work..Not too portible.

The Battery life is no different than a normal Zune. I'm only powering one hard drive at a time.

A laptop hard drive is 2.5" and the drives in the ZUNE are only 1.8". So the laptop hard drive will not fit, it is to wide and to long. Also, These 1.8" drives run on 3.3v and the laptop drive needs 5v to run. It could be done but you would have to step up the voltage and increase the battery size. The standards are different between the two types of hard drives...different wiring and different connector.

Yes, I read your comment about that. I'd love to see a vid/pic of that, lol! I'm pretty content with 100gb, but I was thinking of doing a case mod to add a larger battery. I think adding 1cm of thickness would be worth it if I could have double, maybe even triple the battery life.

Yes you could. When I did this there were only 80GB hd out. The Zune that I'm using now has 3 (Yep thats right) Three hard drives in it.

The hard drives are only on one at a time. The battery doesn't get drained any faster than an un-moded Zune.

Only 1 drive spins at at time. The drive only spins when I "flick the switch" to that drive.

You have to use the same firmware on all the drives. My latest one that I'm using has 3 hard drives in it. My 1st one is Music1, my 2nd is Music2, and the 3rd one is named Movies.

Yep I know...This was my first try at it. The Zune that I use now has 3 80GB hard drives in it and it looks like a "Big Brick". I only use it at work.

I can play it (music) all day at work and it still has power left. It last the same amount of time as the standard hard drive. The only time it may use more power is when I switch from one hard drive to the next. The Zune I use at work has 3 80GB hard drives in it.

It'd have to be a ZIF drive (zero insertion force drive, uses a little clip instead of plug), or you'd have to be good with re-wiring your zune.

I just built one with 3 80GB hard drives...This one is a real brick but I did it so I can take it to work and have all my music and movies. I do Have extra boards that I made for the dual hard drive.

you should put a video up explaining how to do that, and possibly a video showing how to do the same with the battery, or maybe somehow making a port that you can plug another battery into, so when it runs out, you just grab another battery out of your backpack, plug it into the thing, and you've got 12-14 hours more on the thing, gj on your video
