Riise, albeit he scored some brilliant goals for us and gave us some special memories, is one of the most over-rated players ever to play for Liverpool. All he had was one of the most powerful shots ever seen. He was a decent footballer, but he is nowhere near the technical class of Riera. Yes, I'd rather have Riise instead of Dossena, but not instead of Riera, that's just madness.

I have nothing against Riise. He was a good player for Liverpool and provided us with some good goals and memories. But in no way shape or form would I rather have him instead of Riera. Wtf would we do with Riise at the moment? We already have Aurelio, Insua and Dossena occupying the left back role. And you got (discounting Riera) Babel and Benayoun occupying left mid. It'd just be stupid to have Riise instead of Riera. Could you see Riise skinning a player and whipping a cross in like Riera? No

Riise was good left back/left winger for Liverpool but the team has moved on now. They've got Aurelio, Dossena and Insua at left back and Riera and Babel on the left wing, so even if Riise did come back (even though he never will) he wouldn't get into the team. (part 1 of 2)

Er if memory serves me correct Riise's first cross was blocked and the only reason the second one resulted in a goal was because of Gerrard's brilliant header which directed it in, there was no way that was a 'whipped in' cross that I was suggesting he couldn't do in my previous post. Yeah, Riise scored some memorable goals, but those goals obviously taint some delusional fan's views when they start claiming he's better than Riera.
