  • Recently had a jam with a friend and he blew me away with this slow blues (Sam Alcock Trio, Blues in the Dark...)

    Please listen and enjoy!

  • Does Schofield have a signature guitar yet?

  • Guitar playing is still alive, thank gawd a young player who feels the Blues and has by passed the Shredder school. Brilliant stuff!

  • tasty

  • This cat is simply phenomenal. Taste, tone, phrasing. He's got it all. Maybe the best blues guitarist on the planet. He can sing as well. Glad that I stumbled across him.

Can he live in my house and give me lessons for the next 20 years.

  • saw this guy on TV yesterday and was awed by his intense, bluesy and jazzy lines - a new superstar of the blues - the best thing I've heard since SRV. btw: he can also sing with soul - what a gifted musician.

  • I love the blues.

  • Beautiful!!!

    Grandma mary

  • Wow..... He's special man, Matt takes it to the next level! Awesome!

  • Yesssss, he's got it, you know he does.

You dont have to experience the Blues to play it, but you must feeeeeeel it.

    He does.

  • blues is alive and kicking thanks to this guy and others like him.

  • One word: INTENSE!!!!!

  • Who is this guy... that sounds just like Albert Collins both with his guitar and his vocal...??? Don't look much like him though...

  • Excellent!!!

    Grandma mary

  • really..its like almost there is no song on the entire you tube without a bunch of kids arguing and comparing LEARN TO ENJOY THE MUSIC people...if you don't like it then there is a big red button on the corner with an X on it just move your cursor there and CLICK.........its gone....have a good day all

  • Really I like it

    Ferry Fassaert drums

  • Wow! Great playing and great music!

  • He sounds a little bit like Albert Collins.

  • @ThomasDeLello

    very true

  • i agree... great phrasing too!

  • Heheh not a little bit, a lot! But he can also do Robben Ford and his own stuff

  • YOU SUCK!

  • kinda boring really. also repeats alot of the same licks too much and the licks he does play are a.collins mainly...wish he was more original...

  • Schofield paying tribute to the great Albert Collins with a take on the classic slow blues "Light's Are On, But Nobody's Home" - recorded live in the Netherlands, September 2006

  • madonna ma questo tipo fa impressione.... great guitarist....

  • wow, great fucking playing!

  • never really listened to this guy before... glad i have,he's pretty incredible...and to the guys below, so are SRV, Hendrix, all the Kings,Collins,Clapton,Allman,Buddy,Gilmour, Peter Green,John Mayer,Derek Trucks,Robert Johnson etc etc etc. They're all fantastic in their own ways, so stop bithcin' and listen to the damn music!!!

  • its wild how he gets really close albert collins tone on a strat

  • Great great sound!

He's got taste, not like other SRV freaks you can find all over the place.

    Tone is all the matters.

    I love it.

  • great homage to Mr. Collins!

  • Matt is in my opinion one of the best blues guitar player around and this great performance demonstrates it.

  • My god. This guy is good. I bet he sells out!

  • he is great i like him

  • ASI SE HACE!!!!!

  • hot hot!!!!!

  • it does my blue soul good to hear a white guy(no offence meant)who lets the guitar 'talk' instead of ripping through lightning fast scales and flailing around as if to impress...this guy is good..you can feel him and thats what blues is about..when you can grab your audience live or otherwise and make 'em feel your angst...thats blues!

  • Agreed. Schofield is far more interesting a blues guitarist than Stevie Ray - the cock rocker of blues.

  • No need to bad mouth SRV just because he happened to get famous; the late great guitarist paid his dues and played with feeling for sure. His friends Buddy Guy and Buddy Guy would testify to his taste and feeling.

That said, Matt Schofield does distinguish himself from the crowded field of speedy riffers with his touch, his feel, his style; his technique is in service to emotion. He is melodic, and he builds tension and releases it superbly. MS is a blues master.

  • theres not much to say for you, your comments already at a -5 rating. while your bashing great guitarists take a step a back and look at you cock rocking self.

  • The amount of people disagreeing with me doesn't make SRV or Schofield any better bluesmen. To put them in line with other white blues guitarists, neither of them had the guts or understanding of blues that Duane Allman or early (as in 60s/early 70s) Clapton had.

  • haha youre a joke. you speak as if you know these guys personally... guys like matt (and SRV especially) have more blues in their little finger than you could hope to have in your whole fucking body

  • Easy, Nancy.

  • oh i see. playing at my masculinity...

    how mature of you.

  • You're the one who attacked my opinion and swore.

  • i attacked it because youre just straight wrong

  • Okay.

  • why does everybody have to compare? it is so stupid when people say oh so and so is way better just because they are almost always biased.

  • a real bluesman

  • This guy is amazing, seen him up in Montreal and then playing with the Shawn Kellerman band near Toronto. Can hardly wait till he comes around again. The new king of the slow blues!

  • This guy is just OUTSTANDING !!!! I've been listening his music trying to get somehiing for me, and God knows he has a lot to offer to people learning like me !!!! Thanks a lot, Matt !!!!

  • Yes

  • this guy is an extremely tasty player.

  • he is obviously influenced by robben ford but has a far superior voice for this music and has also tailored his guitar sound with a nice rounded tone, good stuff.

  • been playing blues for many years, this guy has lots of soul, feel,& taste.nice to hear the new talent..cant wait to see him in TEXAS,......we sling guitars every night.

  • Just read about Matt in the current Vintage Guitar.

Glad to hear his great talent!

One of my favorite tunes too.

  • this is how blues should to be played, no heavy metal crap as most (young ) people think about blues and are crazy about slash and zakk wylde etc. This is music!!!!

  • i don't think young people think of blues as Slash and Zakk Wylde... or I sure hope not. I like Slash myself.. but I don't consider him blues.

  • I LOVE IT!!!

  • Absolutely brilliant, looking forward to seeing this guy Montreal.............finally in North America!

  • holy shit, I'm a new fan!

  • beatiful, at least a very good slow blues video, pd.: why people do not like slow blues? the best item you could get in all your life

  • Totally awesome blues, a real inspiration. Keep on playing!

  • good stuff!!!

  • man!

Yeah, Albert Collins influence. Love it.

  • I agree. That's the first thing I noticed. Great to see someone keeping Albert's memory alive, instead of all these Albert King guys.

    TERRIFIC stuff!

  • Good Blues...i'm in france.. call me when you come in my country in order to play together....

  • killer
