Do you know anything out checking CFS? Assuming what typical conditions are have put people in some nasty situations! Last year was "high" for nearly the whole duration of summer months. I made at least 8 rescues in that spot. In the spring there are a few keeper holes. Next year could be completely different!

I have a question: How is the current in the 9 ft. navigation channel? The reason I ask is that I plan to canoe the length of the Mississippi and I would like to know this in advance. Strangely, no accounts by people soloing the river in open canoes even mention the Sauk Rapids with one exception. Are you familiar with the typical conditions here during the summer months? Also, was there a safe path through these rapids when you shot this video? It looks like near the far shore might be OK.

You can use just about anything for "light" stuff like Class I, but it is amazing how many people get on the river without knowing the dangers associated with it...especially in the spring with cold water!!
