The Dreamcast was still selling units and games when they pulled the plug. It was fucking Sega of America that killed it off cause Microsoft was entering the race.
In Japan, the Dreamcast lasted till 2007! Sega of Japan still made games for it! We still get new games for it today!
The amount of work put into this project is fucking incredible. The game looks dazzling. The graphics superb. Whoever created this should be hired by Sega and work with the Sonic Team so they can get games like this to the public instead of asking the developers to pull the plug on such excellent pieces of work. I'm an avid Sonic fan, and can only hope games like this become available on consoles in the future. It'd be a beautiful thing.

Even though Mario might be about as popular as Sonic, in reality Marios games have sold over 250 mil units, Sonic about 80 mil units. this is because some argue Sonic never made the successful transition into 3D like Mario. and Sega turned the series into some anime shite with Sonic X, etc. all that stuff they did. its just not the same thing we grew up with. i wouldve liked it for them to focus entirely on classic 2D for the aniversary game, but they just cant let go of the modern/anime stuff.
to be honest...I kind of still prefer this to Gens. Sure in the end Gens will be a better game, more gameplay value, better control etc, but I loved how each level on this one had so much going on, like the rain in act 2 and the dusk in act 3 that made all the badniks use headlights
I think that Sonic 4 (Ep.1) was the greatest thing to happen to the fanbase. Did you notice all of the stellar fan-games that surfaced (and re-surfaced) in reaction to it? Just think: if Dimps hadn't compelled the fans to "prove" their worth, could they REALLY justify their constant whining?

@andyot7777 Don't forget to mention that Modern and Classic Sonic isn't the only two characters confirmed for the game, they say others are too, such as Shadow. (That was actually confirmed, I watched "Irategamer", and I know, I should slam my head into a wall for that.)

@andyot7777 I think this build is based on Sonic 3 and Knuckles. which i feel is perfect; i also played the Sonic Generations demo, and for me its too fast. you cant time your jumps properly and theres a limit on how high you can jump despite how much speed you build into your jump. i havent played it but it seems like theres a perfect balance between speed and jumping like S3&K. and these levels are gorgeous, SG is a remake of older levels. Sega seem to be pushing the same agenda...

Sega need to stop putting modern Sonic and 3D levels into every Sonic game. just make a completely 2D game, like New Super Mario Bros. if they still want the 3D modern Sonic make a seperate game for it. i would rather they focus entirely on the 2D style of play, instead of forcing players to experience both in one game. especially since an entirely 2D based on this S3&K build would be phenominal!

@andyot7777 Sonic Generations needs a bit of fixing, not SFR. One of Sonic Generations' principal problems is that its so-called "momentum based gameplay" is a scripted farce. Case and point, pure momentum can't get you through a loop-de-loop unless you're pushing forward.

@pacboy24 Because Gamers Magazine is the ultimate in judging whether a game is good. That decision is up to yourself to decide. There is no point denying it is a well made and well playable game, most reviews rank it and 8.5 which is high average. But I ignore reviews because basing your decision to buy a game on a review someone else wrote instead of making up your own opinion by ACTUALLY playing it, often means missing out on good games.
Innovation for innovation's sake is fine and all, and it wouldn't do to keep things exactly the same and stagnate, but sometimes sticking within the formula isn't entirely a bad idea. Take Fire Emblem, for example. Each game by and large plays similarly, though with a different storyline and cast of characters, and most of them are awesome. Let Sega do whatever, I enjoyed the Adventure games at least, but this looks beyond amazing. Too bad it could never be allowed to survive...

Sega neither, they showed us a green hill, just as those guys didn't showed us "Sonic2HD" as you call it, but just an incomplete emerald hill, in fact it's not "S2remix", because Fan Remix, since always, is supposed to be a remix of the best zones of the entire 2D era. No one ever said it's supposed to be a copy/paste of sonic 2, and never will :)
I know you guys are giving this game such praise over Sonic 4, but try to answer me this simple question: If Sonic 4 has a new homing attack which I find to be pretty cool, then could you at least tell one thing about this game that hasn't already been done in the first 3 Sonic games? I'm not saying I don't like this game (Of course not), but what I can tell, it;s Sonic 2 with new 3D physics and no 2 player support. So try naming one thing in this game besides the graphics that's makes it fresh.
I don't think that's the point. The updated graphics, design, audio, and control here are exactly what people want in a Sonic game. Sonic 4 had awful control and terrible sound, and the level designs left a lot to be desired (or so is the general opinion). Don't fix things that aren't broken, which is something Sonic Team needs to learn.

Way back when Sonic 4 Episode I was released, everybody loved this game.
They probably still do... I played the demo of Fan Remix myself and I must say, it's good...
BUT, I just came back from playing the Sonic Generations Demo, and it plays a hell of a lot better than Fan Remix does.
Sega saw this idea. And they improved on it even further.
One step out of the dark for Sega and Sonic. THEY'RE BACK.

@pacboy24 Because Gamers Magazine is the ultimate in judging whether a game is good. That decision is up to yourself to decide. There is no point denying it is a well made and well playable game, most reviews rank it and 8.5 which is high average. But I ignore reviews because basing your decision to buy a game on a review someone else wrote instead of making up your own opinion by ACTUALLY playing it, often means missing out on good games.

Innovation for innovation's sake is fine and all, and it wouldn't do to keep things exactly the same and stagnate, but sometimes sticking within the formula isn't entirely a bad idea. Take Fire Emblem, for example. Each game by and large plays similarly, though with a different storyline and cast of characters, and most of them are awesome. Let Sega do whatever, I enjoyed the Adventure games at least, but this looks beyond amazing. Too bad it could never be allowed to survive...

Sega neither, they showed us a green hill, just as those guys didn't showed us "Sonic2HD" as you call it, but just an incomplete emerald hill, in fact it's not "S2remix", because Fan Remix, since always, is supposed to be a remix of the best zones of the entire 2D era. No one ever said it's supposed to be a copy/paste of sonic 2, and never will :)

I know you guys are giving this game such praise over Sonic 4, but try to answer me this simple question: If Sonic 4 has a new homing attack which I find to be pretty cool, then could you at least tell one thing about this game that hasn't already been done in the first 3 Sonic games? I'm not saying I don't like this game (Of course not), but what I can tell, it;s Sonic 2 with new 3D physics and no 2 player support. So try naming one thing in this game besides the graphics that's makes it fresh.

I don't think that's the point. The updated graphics, design, audio, and control here are exactly what people want in a Sonic game. Sonic 4 had awful control and terrible sound, and the level designs left a lot to be desired (or so is the general opinion). Don't fix things that aren't broken, which is something Sonic Team needs to learn.

@ugochib I believe it, because in my opinion it was true, the only sonic game i haven't played in the past decade was sonic 06. I liked Secret rings a lil bit and i thought Colors was ok. The only sonic I actually thought was good were the Sonic advance and Rush games.

The project concept is a game wich REMIXES the best Zones of the 2D era with one inedited Act each (there's a EH act3 in this demo, as example).
