  • 2:00 didnt know they sold jeeps in the UK

  • @JackBandicootsBunker I like that one too. 3 series vs the Focus, because they aren't related to each other in the fact that they're completely different types of cars, I think they were comparing just on the basis that they were both family cars at that time in 2001 or whenever this was broadcasted. By the end of this year when i pass my test, I'm either going to get a Focus 1.4 CL or LX, or a 1.6 Zetec it needs to be a mk1 hatchback with 5 doors, what would you recommend?

  • The Stone Roses sounding at the very beginning. Great tune choice...

Now, you can't compare a Compact car (Focus) versus a premium mid-size sedan (BMW 3er)...

However, props to Ford, because its Focus is the only serious compact car in the market, save the VW Golf.

  • @JackBandicootsBunker whats your favourite stone roses song?

  • @28DLFTW Can't choose a favourite, all of them sound amazing. But one that really gets me so much is "Waterfall".

  • 1.60euros / liter here in Finland

  • @Niska00 a galon is more then a liter you, much more.

  • @georgeturbo1983 So what? Did i say anything about how much is 1 gallon and 1 liter? I just wanted to say how dam expensive petrol is here

  • @Niska00 yeah I just wanted to make sure of what you were trying to say, and BTW here in Greece thanks to new tax rates from our BRILLIANT priminister George Papandreou prices are getting even higher.

  • this was 2000! bloody hell :L

  • its 1,40eur per liter in belgium, killer prices!!

  • @denjo125 and we here in Portugal pay at least 1,55€, with 1,60€ per litre being standard, it's just stupid... And we're in a very serious crisis, with the bailout and all, and these petrol companies keep screwing us over... the rest of the population growing poorer and these bastards raise prices, not to survive, just to increase profits...

  • Comment removed

  • @tiansivive yeah I know what you're talking about, the situation is even worse here in Greece, people are being fired every day and university graduates can't find jobs, oh and the taxes have recently DOUBLED on everything.

  • ok for the common folk i guess.... but a bit boring

  • FORD FOCUS RULE!!!!!!

  • Mummy is happy because there's a low loading sill for her shopping.

Wow, We wouldn't be able to get away with that today...

  • they some happy ass ppl! 1:38

  • hes very very good..but thank god he does not like vectras.. i have had two looking for vxr next. and people takeing note of him make vxr cheaper...good old dirty bugger clackson.

  • the dog is happy becaus its on tv lol

  • Clarkson prattles on like the Ford Focus is the only car that exsists in the whole of Britain. You don't have to buy a Focus if you want a small family car they do have an Astra, Golf, Megane and Leon available incase you didn't know.

  • I saw a stupid ad in a magazine. It was selling booster seats and it said you needed one at 11 years old!

  • That shot of poorly dressed suburbanites poring over a Ford Focus like it was a fucking space ship was the promotional video that won Britain the 2012 Olympic bid.

  • i bought a focus 1.6 lx on a 53 plate about 2 weeks ago.. dont like it anymore... its Too slow... to heavy on fuel... and if you try be economical by being in 5th at 40mph nothing happens... the car doesnt move at ALL. so you either have to put your foot down... but yet still nothing happens or shoot down to 3rd to even get a tiny bit of movement... TOOO slow.. especialy with 2 or more passengers.. to rubbish on fuel.. to expensive to tax... the windscreen wipers are anoyying too.

  • @vteckicksarse I lent my Leon FR out to my mates dad who owns a Focus 1.6 and he fell in love with it. He wants to buy it off me and he wants me to sell it to him as a 1st customer. He's in a long queue there, everyone wants the Leon off me. He had it to and from work while his Focus was garaged he says the fuel is more then half his fuel consumption, stereo's a better quality and its bloody mental (remapped). He wants to swap - Focus 1.6 for a remapped Leon FR TDI - Let me think... no lol.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t i like them frs.. i had a 06 plate audi a3 2.0tdi s line. had that mapped to 175bhp and able to archive 66-70mpg on a run out... 45mpg average when braying it occasionaly... cant beat a sporty remaped diesel... i had to sell it because of constant problems... the remap took the cluch out and dual mass flywheel ( £1000) then the water pump went and then cambelt was pretty much gone (£500) needed new tyres cos of the power (£200) then finaly the head gasket went...

  • @vteckicksarse Ouch! Cost you quite a bit! Seats FR's are quite cheap to sort out if they ever go wrong, they aren't too expensive when they cock up. If you want power you have to pay for it though. My sisters boyfriend has a 206 2.0L 16V GTi 140 and thats broken everything in the A-Z index of the Haynes manual. Clutch, waterpump, 2x headgaskets, cambelt, driveshaft packed up, new gearbox you name it its been broken.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t the mid range pull was insane i bet your fr is too and the low down pull... so had to sell quickly and downgrade to a shitty ford focus... too slow and costs twice as much to run.. costs more in fuel.. alot more.. its slower. more expensive to tax.... noooo dont swap it lol..

  • @vteckicksarse The brute force overtaking power is daft, it will pull you to some really silly speeds without you knowing it. I just can't imagine life on an A road with any other car, it will never be as fun. Talking of downgrades we nearly went from an Audi A4 SE to a Ford Mondeo Ghia X, talk about downgrading. Fords don't compare to Audi at all, Mondeo was awful, cheap and rattly, everything was badly proportioned. It was like being in a big version of a Ford Escort.

  • @vteckicksarse Initially we looked at a Ghia X with a full leather cabin so in theory we won't be stepping down from an A4 SE. Big mistake, I sat in the back of the mondeo the rear bench was so high in the air I was looking down from above with my head touching the roof, the arm rest might aswell have not been there, the parcel shelf rattle and fidgety squeaks in the cabin were driving me nuts. The body metal is so thin it dents in with the pressure of your hand. Never swap Audi's for Fords Lol

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Thats why Audi are much more expensive though.....you get what you pay for

  • @Mr69Deano indeed I agree that you get what you pay for but I have to disagree with the "expensive Audi" claims because if you look at the list prices of a new Ford Focus on poverty spec its actually very nearly on par with an Audi A3 on poverty spec. An Audi A3 is only a few hundred more then a Focus. The Volkswagen Golf and BMW 1 series beats the Focus on being cheaper. I also looked at the list prices for the Volvo C30's compared with Fords and I was totally shocked at Fords prices.

  • lol here in Indonesia, hatchbacks are considered as youngster cars, even a Focus here is considered as a man's car.Usually they use 7 seaters for family purpose.

  • 35mpg these days is really bad...makes me appreciate how far we've come :)

  • @Chunderitis 35 MPG SOD THAT I WANT A CAR THAT CAN DO 100 MPG PRICE OF PETROL TODAY RIPP OFFFFFF

  • ...the dog is happy because it's on tv...

  • at £6.50 a gallon i think everyone is feeling the strain, i have a focus 1.6, i get around 35mpg but still, petrol costs loads!

  • That nissan ad is the most annoying i have ever seen.

  • love this ford, 1.8 zetec and 2.0l zetec good for powerful family cars

And then u get a 2,5L ST :D-Good for the family run again and alot quicker,

and then the RS is about the same but a bit quicker and lighter etc.

Ford focus 2012 is superb on its safety and as a family car and even an executive car-- Why do you think enterprise rent a car always use em!!

  • @mrzkhan1 I worked for Enterprise rent a car as a prep/driver and unfortunately we have Focuses, just don't get me started on two things: 1. The Focuses because they are utterly crap cars 2. Enterprises bad reputation as a company and the way they treated retail customers. I wouldn't call them an executive car, since when have executive cars rattled, squeaked, rusted so early and broke down so often. The best ones in our D groups were Golfs, Focuses were down in the pit with Astras and i30's.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t well, the rs and rs 500 Are good cars, and now ford have annonced they are part german, they have hamburers and some schneill mixed in, a german hamburger, still better than reunult, peugeot and citron and craapppy manufacture's like that, and enterprise, well,I dont really think they treat their cars well, customers would know what i mean if they were to rent one out, and one of my family members having a focus for 6 years and only needing to change a cambelt shows how it isgood

  • @mrzkhan1 I am very familiar with the Focus II's as I was always driving them, we had 1.8 Titanium Sport packs, 1.6 Zetecs or 1.6 TDCi Titaniums. Never liked them they are cheap fake tacky plastic cars, no seat comfort and horrible noisy engines and transmissions. Its a very reasonably priced car, dash surrond is very gappy and everything wears out so don't go kidding yourself about the quality being any good. After you have driven a Golf or a C30 you will know what quality is.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Haha. What a load of bollox. You badge monkeys make me laugh.

  • @hunghuge12 "What a load of bollox... You badge monkeys make me laugh" And what would you know about quality? Focuses are not an example of good quality, so have you ever been in an Audi A3, a Volvo C30/S40, or a Golf and then gone straight in a Focus Ghia afterwards? Been there, done that, worn the T and after you have been in a proper car you soon realise how yucky Focuses are compared to the likes of Volvo and Audi. I rest my case...

  • @1ns4ne1d10t I have actually. It's funny how you mention quality then say the focus is shit then the volvo is great. You're either a prize pillock or you know nothing about them. Or both. Underneath they share nearly all their mechanical components. You're just another stupid shirt wearing office monkey who judges quality by how soft the dash is to touch. Ride/handling mean anything to you? Or are you immune to it because you can't really drive? You're like a blind man judging a color chart.

  • @hunghuge12 Is that all you buy a Ford for? Handling and ride. What kind of a valid excuse is that? If I wanted that sort of driver involvement I would improvise a ko kart and put four seats in it, I wouldn't be seen dead in a Ford. Quality isn't just a soft touch dash do you know anything? With half decent premium cars you don't get some old bent up crowbar under the bonnet to keep it up and the doors/bonnet and boot don't go CLANNNGGG when you shut them. And you get a car which lasts longer

  • @1ns4ne1d10t By the way if you want to see what build quality relly is pop down to a lexus dealer.

  • @hunghuge12 I will agree with that, Fords are an example of how you don't build cars. Brand new Lexus cars are probably cheaper then Ford's anyway so it wouldn't surprise me. The way they bang on about Fords in these slanderous road reviews really makes you wonder if such a good car is really too good to be true... Lol

  • petrol £4 a gallon....

over £6 a bloody gallon now

  • @Mr69Deano its 3.70$ a gallon in USA! USA! USA! USA! ..... what i'm getting at is occupy Saudi Arabia

  • @Mr69Deano Its around $3.40 here in the US

  • LOL the dog is happy because it is on tv!

    clarkson.

  • I know this is an old video but, got my VW tdi 2010 for about that over a year ago^^ got 40-45mpg full package, 6spd manual^^ best for the dollar!

  • @takuhari Brilliant choice of car, don't touch Ford they are expensive junk. There is so much better for less money these days, there just isn't a valid reason to buy a Ford anymore. VAG always offer fully loaded cars in a decent overall package, everything with Ford is begging for an optional extra then by the time you finish begging its too late the body has rusted and nothing works. Clarkson is the only one who keeps Ford alive, anyone with brains and sense buys german and Jap. Well done.

  • Stone ROses!!!

  • its the stone roses "fool's gold" in the beginning. oh my, bbc has taste.

  • I honestly never knew they sold dodge caravans in the U.K . I thought the most popular MPVs over there were Renaults, Hondas, Toyotas, and anything that wasn't american

  • @Porsche1080 You sound surprised? they've sold them over here for yonks now.. We have had your square box 4.0 V6/2.5TD Jeep Cherokees in RHD since 1990 and your Voyagers and Neons since 1995. We also had your 3.8 V6 Ford Explorers in RHD in 1995 for a while as there was a growing popular demand for S.U.V's from the USA during the 1990's.

  • @Porsche1080 The Dodge Caravan in the UK was sold as the Chrysler Voyager. It was the upmarket MPV of its time, although the newer one hasn't done so well.

  • Is he comparing big family cars like jeep grand cherokee and chrysler grand voyager to a small car like the focus? Focus is a small car not at big family car. So stupid. In norway this car is not a familycar ,but a small car

  • @1708howard No he is not comparing them at all, what he is saying is that companies like Ford aim 5 door cars like the focus at the average family but that it doesn't work because the average family has gotten bigger, 5 seats in a car doesn't work with mum, dad, 3 kids and their friend from school. This is why he says "so why do we almost never see these cars on the school run?" and then shows the clips of MPV's and SUV's as they are larger with (usually) at least one extra seat.

  • Is he comparing big family cars like jeep grand cherokee and chrysler grand voyager to a small car like the focus? Focus is a small car not at big family car. So stupid.

  • It's very hard to determine if he was bashing or praising the focus.

  • @BloodyBumper He is praising it for its good qualities and Bashing Ford's (and other companies) old fashioned habit of marketing the 5 door hatchback to the average family which has grown in recent years. (to anyone in a country where the average family is still small ie: mum, dad and 2 kids at most, this is naturally aimed at a UK audience)

  • 10 people stayed at home and ate worms.

  • Even the neighbors are happy :)

  • They need a Maibatsu Monstrosity.

LOL it's like that game relates to everything.

  • @UnchainTheNight1 oh shit. lmaooooo. GTA 3

  • @ryu1036 Lol I hoped someone would get it.

  • I have a 2002 Ford Focus 1.8 petrol 115 hp, amazing car never had a problem with it.I hope that my next car will also be a Ford Focus it's simply great as a package :D

  • @hercegovac00 wish i could say the same exellent car overall but its starting to rust and the engine managment is dodgy to say the least

  • e30 FTMFW! 5 seats, lots of trunk space, 30mpg, rwd, fun to drive, and cheap!

  • I think Andrew Marr has a point.

  • 200,000 miles on mine and still gong strong =)

  • @xxMichaelAnthony

    Ford or BMW???

  • @mpc1209 BMW defently

  • @mpc1209 If I had half a brain cell I would have said Ford... I have got more then 1 so its BMW.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t You can't have more than one brain cell to come up with a fuck-tard comeback like that.

  • @mpc1209 I wasn't the one who asked if anyone preferred Ford to BMW. You did. Bit of a silly thing to ask that question because we all know the answer is not going to be Ford so why ask? Thats like asking what would everyone like to cruise round the carribean in? A raft made of match sticks or the Oreana/QE2.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t If nobody would choose the ford, why are there more of them on the streets?

  • @mpc1209

price only ;) i have focus and i know it :)

  • ive got something bigger..

  • It's a horrible, horrible car, as the one that my parents own has had MULTIPLE problems, including leaking, panels not fitting, and the transmission literally falling away from the car, and Ford refused to fix it, claiming it wasn't their problem. This is a 2006 Focus that was purchased brand new.

  • @wikiwama They sound like twats if you ask me.

  • @wikiwama What you said about your parents Ford sounds right... Fords are utter junk... Never listen to T.V road reviews or a neibours opinion about their Focus next door. Bad move to make. My old neibour Kev got rid of a 1995/N BMW 318is for a 52 plate 1.6 Ford Focus zetec. He no longer has it. He has a Toyota Celica VVTinow. The 52 reg Focus busted up on him and needed a whole new engine costing nearly 3 grand. Then the gear stopped going in 5th then the entire gearbox died afterwards.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t it was obviously a pile of shit to begin with, ive had loads of them and never had a problem with any of them.

  • @beefycheesecake Why have you had loads of them then? You obviously Kept them for short periods of time and sold them on well before they could develop any problems.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t ,well thats true enough, never had one for more than a year, but my sister has one for

a few years now and never had any trouble with it.id definitley buy one again tho.there easy to fix and there's

no problem getting parts for them if you did need to fix them.

  • @beefycheesecake ignore insaneidiot, he is just a internet troll. he post some amazing rubbish on almost every ford video on here.

  • only problem is the Focus wasnt what i would call reliable

  • @sabalito91 I agree, people like to go round thinking these cars WILL be guaranteed to last forever and ever and ever and outlast everything thats Japanese or German. My mate Ryans got an X reg Focus Ghia 2.0 and he says hes fed up of its fair share of "gremlyns". Its a Ford, and Ford will always be Ford, need I say any more?

  • I've had a 10 year old Focus for nearly 2 years now, and I'm totally happy with it. The only things I've had to replace is a spring and a couple of light bulbs.

  • no way! diesel focus, fuck off, we are gettin gypt in North america again

  • my mum has this car in silver, the zetec 1.8 petrol its 10 yrs old now and still as fantastic as it always has been :D

  • @Jordzindaplace yer i have the same secs and colur is your focus an s reg

  • @shane3455 mine's a y reg :)

  • they need something bigger ... a lorry i guess

  • I hate Ford, they never give the USA the good stuff. Keep the legit Transit out, keep the real performance Focus out...

The Euro Focus they're bringing here is nothing special, just looks better. >=(

  • "Even the neighbours are happy!" Classic Clarkson :D

  • No you said the ford is ulgy and i said that because that dodge cravan is is easly the ulgyest thing to be put into production, and i can be as late as i fuking want, see this vid, 2008.

  • hi,yeah they make that in a wagon and have for years now,oh just got tooth paste forgot might be a while for u then.

  • Love my Focus. Its been banged, bashed, and little plastic parts in the car have given way. (glovebox handle, turning switcher doesn't shift back to neutral after a turn) But its gone through such little maintenance. It needs a tune-up for some ridiculous amount of mileage, and the only repair in 9 years was a clogged pipe that was the fault of a mechanic. Its nimble, and REALLY handles corners. (esp around the mountainous bends along the Finger Lakes) Just wish it had mo power. Only 130hp...

  • that car is so ugly

  • @adioskate62 Did you not see that dodge at 1:55?

  • @1RealZenDragon what does that have to do with anything and way to be a month late on that one

  • "Even the neighbours are happy!" :-)

    And the classics are interesting.

  • OMG SOME OF THEASE PEOPLES COMMENTS MY DAD HAS A FORD FOCUS ZETEC ITS A FUCKING BEAUTIFUL CAR LOVELEY INSIDE AND GORGOUSE LOOKING ON THE OUTSIDE IT IS A 2005 PLATE ONE NEWER SHAPE THAN THE ONE IN THIS VID NICE BIG BOOT AND LOTS OF LEG ROOM FORD KICKS ASS

  • @CatStarxo i no people are sooo gay my mums got a 54 plate limeted edition ford focus tdci edge witch is a cross between a tdci and the petrol edges you rarely see about. my mum would not even swap it for an st170 for christ sake

  • @eLLoIMJ0d1E aww cool my dads is limited edition too it has a white badge with blue writing on the front bumper back bumper and sterring wheel and no other ford we seen has that and it has the silvergrill limted edition silver crown wheels its a petrol zetec focuses are fucking rapid motors

  • ford focus is top gear car of the decade!!

  • my family have a ford focus :D

  • just noticed that this was filmed in solihull near Birmingham

  • I don't get why the Focus is supossedly better than a Civic.

  • @MrMK94. They're truely excellent cars, offering great reliability , good build quality and keep their prices in the uk. Civic's are truely excellent cars, but in the UK they dont have as much appeal as a Focus.

  • Better than a Civic? Hah! Fords are crap even the new "improved" ones, work for a rental company, I insist. It won't take long before you realise that they are crapper than they look. "Best driving car" my hairy arse, Fords might turn into corners like they are guided by rails but they still have shitty brakes, shoddy gearboxes & dangerous electrics. I can tell you a few stories about them...

  • @1ns4ne1d10t My Focus works fine and has adequate brakes and a fine gearbox.

  • Depends on what you call "adequate" brakes & "Fine" gearbox? Fords & vauxhalls always have the shittest gearboxes but Fords always have the worst brakes of all cars especially compared to seats & vw. You are probably accustomed to your own car so all would seem fine, but drive a golf then drive a focus immediately after... you soon notice!

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Well, I do admit my ZX3's gearbox is a bit clunky, but the brakes are fine. Bear in mind I drive an 03 model Focus, base model, which weighs in at just under 2600 pounds. 2003 was also during the overweight, underpowered, and ill-performing Mk IV Golf.

  • @Plisken1986 I have never found a Golf Mk IV to be any of the things you mentioned, whats written on a piece of paper differs to the real world. A Seat Ibiza is supposed to be 0-60 in 15 seconds because its a 1.2 12V with 3cyls, its nothing like that. Its more like 12-11. Because the Polo 1.2 12V is underpowered they assumed the Seat is the same but it isn't, its much lighter & quicker.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Well, I'm from the United States of Americaland, so we don't have Seats. And also, it is quite possible that our MkIV Golf was significantly worse than the Euorpean version, due to safety/pedestrian beauracracy BS. That's why the Fiesta we're getting is a full 200 lbs heavier than the Euro version.

  • Comment removed

  • @Plisken1986 could well be your IIHS is different to our N-Cap tests. The Golf is not at all underpowered to drive its on-par with a Focus 1.6 they are as nippy as eachother off the mark. Even so the TDi's are even punchier than Fords TDCi's if you ever drive them. The 140 Golf TDi engines feel like they hav a lot more punch than a TDCi 140 they are less lag & more wallop!

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Well, I can't speak much for Diesels, due to America's environmental laws being a bit incompetent. (Pollution more important over efficiency, but of course smog spewing SUVs are exempt because they are "work vehicles")

  • fare play, but not all fords have shiity shit i agree on the vauxhalls 100% tho

  • @eLLoIMJ0d1E Everyone hypes up about Ford being one of the best driving cars but to be honest its a bit of a huge commercial gimmick really. I don't find them to be the best cars to drive, the Ti-VCT engines give you too much poke too early, the gearshifts are a hit/miss, & the brakes feel blunt. They do steer like they are on rails but they aren't that great.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t

Hmmmm, thats why this Focus has 5/5 for Reliability in the "What Car" magazine then.

  • @mpc1209 I wouldn't put all your money on 'what car' magazine. They forgot to mention about the 1.8 TDCi's in these rotters. The dreadful 8V endura diesel from the 1980's which had an entire injection system from delphi. Read all about the 1.8 TDCi in the Focus Mk1 and come back and tell me it gets 5/5.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t

    Ha! it does :D

  • @mpc1209 They obviously got paid handsomely by Ford to say nice things about reliability or else Ford will find a way of sueing them for slander I expect. Henry Ford backed up Hitlas views on the Jewish and slandered the Jews so it shows how evil they are as a company. I'm just glad I don't have a Ford!

  • @1ns4ne1d10t

    You're fackin weird :S

  • @mpc1209 1ns4ne1d10t is just a troll, ignore him. 99% of everything he says is complete bollocks.

  • @Nakke144 I couldn't agree more, have you seen his Channel? It's full of Anti-Ford bollocks. I have a 2007 1.8 petrol Zetec Focus and it's frigging epic and I would recommend them to anybody and would definitely have another one.

  • @simtube83 I birched myself last week, Its epic. I would recommend birching to anyone and I would definately birch myself again.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Hehe....remeber the old Escort MK5s in the 90s with the tappety (pushrod) 1300cc engine? (which wasn't even properly injected) The brakes were drum brakes too. The alternators were not that good. My uncle's escort died after a valve blew at 90,000 miles.

  • @VTS1337 Oh god, don't mention Escort! The rattly pushrod engine was a farce and was also in Fiestas and wasn't expected to last over 100,000 miles, the alternators were from Lucas electrical which were the worst supplier in the world so that explains your uncles Escort. I think you will find Ford still use drums to this very day on everything and they STILL stick washer jets on the outside bonnet when manufacturers find it tasteful to hide them away, whats new pussy cat?

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Really? Wow. Strange though that a 2010 Mondeo with it's touch screen computer system would have drun brakes. My uncles Escort was pushed to the max though. He said the fastest it ever went was 96MPH. That was a 1994 L reg too. Died in 2003. If BL/Rover chose Bosch Jectronic instead of Lucas, the Rover SD1 Vitesse might of been quite a reliable car.

  • @VTS1337 Ford don't equip all the brand new Kinetic designed cars with disk brakes as standard, no no! They still use drums at the rear on most. I know most of the 2010 Fiestas use drums except the Zetec S even the titanium uses drums and I know that for a fact because I worked for a rental company driving those cars.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t WHAT???? I thought drum brakes had HAD IT! Hell, VW beetles had them in the 70s, and here is ford going around putting it in their new fiestas. Our Saab 900 T16S had remote locking, a turbocharged engine developing 175bhp and 16 valves. Oh. And disc brakes. And d'you know how old that was. A 1985 model. (B reg.) Many years and moons have passed since then. God. Ford is really trying to make a 'people's car'

  • @VTS1337 You think because Fords have 5-stars, mood lit interiors, Convers+ screens, Voice control, bluetooth and phone connection that they have moved on. They have to cost cut somewhere on drum brakes, no passenger seat height adjuster, no spare wheel etc. But Ford aren't the only ones to keep using rear drums, Vauxhall are another offender of drums. Corsas and Fiestas have so much drums on them they could start off a rock band!

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Vauxhall Corsas suck too. Just GM pieces of shit. I suppose a Saab 900 was a strange expensive coupe which was overpriced and costly to run to the average Brit in the 80s, and Sierra Cosworths seemed much more familar, lower priced and just as fast. However give or take a few years and that average Brit would experence leaks, electrical problems, rust and more.

  • @VTS1337 Most people think all these comparable cars end up better value for money at the cheaper price tag but sadly there is no value for money with cars. Interesting, because was in an 06 Focus estate taxi last night going into town on the p**s. I was sat right up, knees over the dashboard and my head against the roof and where was the height adjuster? Zilch. It made the journey feel horrible. At least VAG always have adjusters usually as standard.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Really? Up against the dash? I've been in a 1.4ltr Polo standard edition, and it's been the most reliable and comfy little car i've ever been in. And the latest polo is only...£9,000+!!! And for that you get adjusting seats and VW reliabilty plus aircon and electrics.

  • @VTS1337 Fords STILL have wind down windows at the rear, nearly all of them do, same as Vauxhall/GM. You can buy as Top spec GM/Ford as you like but you won't get all round electric windows on any of them or height adjusters. undenyably VAG always have all-round everything on their cars including better quality sound systems and stereo's. People can argue the toss all they like but this is why you pay more for a VW then you do Ford or GM. You get better things when you pay a higher price.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t You are talking out of your arse. Again.

  • @Nakke144 Pah! not really, I'm sorry if Ford don't add things like VW do to their cars but thats really not my fault. Have a winge at Ford or general motors not me, I'm only telling the truth about the cars.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t You chose your nick very well :)

  • @mrcornel001 My my, don't people get touchy about Fords, they are just a car with a set of wheels get over it.

  • @MrMK94 Don't listen to the ford lovers, Focuses are like a batch of chicken eggs. "amazing reliability, good build quality blah blah blah..." You get one built on a Monday morning or a friday afternoon you will soon see how awful they can be and the 1.8 TDCi's are a no-go area trust me. Its not better than a Honda Civic you are comparing Ford with Jap, er... stick with Jap.

  • Probably the best car I've ever owned, practical and fun to drive.

  • @Trypticon2010. My uncle has owned one since 1998 and has clocked up 145,000 care-free miles. Have you seen the new one that will come out, its the shape of the mark 1 model but with superior and sharp looks.

  • I think that no other car got so many good word in Top Gear like Ford Focus 1999-2004.

  • i know!! haha, its the only american car that they actually really love. and we americans, ages 16 - 25 think it looks totally gay. (unless you have about 5 grand to put in it to make it sporty.) i love it myself.. only if i had the money for upgrades. and WHY OH WHY did they not produce the RS in america???? god i love that one.

  • Well, I know too a lot of people who thinks that 1999-2004 Focus is ugly. But I don't care. I think it's the best car ever made.

  • @BurningFliesAlive Ford Focus is actually European.
