Just letting everybody know, I have a 06 gto with a vararam, colder thermo, and catback, and I walk 5.0s. Easily. Just because it has more horsepower on paper doesn't mean IRS faster, I'm almost certain stock for stock ls2 goats are faster. People really underestimate gtos. The 5.0s I ran also had intake exhaust, ran from a dig, 40 roll, and 60. And I won all the runs.

This mustang was a 2 valve. Tops he was pushing 300rwhp, and that's a solid 2 valve with all bolt ons and a dyno tune. 3 valve's a little better, ran up against 3 GTO's and haven't lost yet :)
@mayhew23451 Those 4.6l 2v mustangs just dont have enough power... The 3v s197 mustang GT (05-10) would have won with bolt ons it has 100hp more than this 2v mustang gt stock and the GTO didnt beat it by much. I loved when he waved his hand haha awsome!!

@10032uhhh yes you can put a double exhaust on the 04 thats how i have it, and you might want to go ahead and throw some headers as well. The magnaflow sound good couse i had it on my previous Mustang, but i have a Borla on the GTO and is alot better(Recomended)

@Storm7289 LearntoGTO before you hurt yourself on the Internets. Skittles is right. Not to mention the several hundred pounds over the Mustang, the GTO is definitely built for comfort, but kicking ass on the side is nice, too.
@Storm7289 The 5.7 has true duals running from both sides of the engine completely separated. Don't be fooled just because both pipes exit out the same side on some.
@Storm7289 The single-sided GTO's have 2 mufflers as well: 2 headers (manifolds), 2 downpipes, 2 cats, 2 mufflers, 2 tips.
The cat-back on 04's to 05's is where the difference is (with exhaust). On the 04's the mufflers are both in front of the rear axle, in 05/06 they are post-axle and hang right behind the bumper cover. For the 04's you can get a rear bumper inset or put in a cut-out on the opposite side of the rear bumper.
This is very common, as most people like it symmetrical.
@Tyrael112 and then on the 04 you re-route the muffler-back pipe to exit on the other side. Some weld in 05/06 muffler hangers so that they can just buy 05/06 systems and bolt them right in.
I'd say the majority of GTO's out there have an entirely aftermarket exhaust system, and yet most will agree that the original 2004 Asymmetrical muffling system GM installed sounds the best, as it was modeled very closely after an original 60's GTO with a little LS bite.
It's kind of funny that most people think the 04 GTO has single exhaust. I know in terms of sound, most people the stock 5.7 sounds better than the 6.0 because of muffler placement.

@saidv8 I agree with the other dude. A descent Head/Cam and tune job on a GT will fuck a lot of shit up. I know a guy at the car meets who is known as cobra killer with his naturally aspirated GT. I think he's putting down about 397rwhp without a s/c or t/c.

This mustang was a 2 valve. Tops he was pushing 300rwhp, and that's a solid 2 valve with all bolt ons and a dyno tune. 3 valve's a little better, ran up against 3 GTO's and haven't lost yet :)

@Storm7289 The single-sided GTO's have 2 mufflers as well: 2 headers (manifolds), 2 downpipes, 2 cats, 2 mufflers, 2 tips.
The cat-back on 04's to 05's is where the difference is (with exhaust). On the 04's the mufflers are both in front of the rear axle, in 05/06 they are post-axle and hang right behind the bumper cover. For the 04's you can get a rear bumper inset or put in a cut-out on the opposite side of the rear bumper.
This is very common, as most people like it symmetrical.

@Tyrael112 and then on the 04 you re-route the muffler-back pipe to exit on the other side. Some weld in 05/06 muffler hangers so that they can just buy 05/06 systems and bolt them right in.
I'd say the majority of GTO's out there have an entirely aftermarket exhaust system, and yet most will agree that the original 2004 Asymmetrical muffling system GM installed sounds the best, as it was modeled very closely after an original 60's GTO with a little LS bite.
