  • there is a lot of drugs in this race

  • None of them look particularly happy when you consider that this was an Olympic gold medal in record time!

  • HI,Mr.athlete5399.

Do you have 100M&4x100M relay of 1976?

  • Just compare Wockel's appearance between this video and the 1980 200m. In Montreal she looked relatively feminine, but by Moscow she looked a lot like a man. It was so obvious she was juiced to the eyeballs. Also check out Renate Stecher coming out of the blocks, she ran like a horse, again thanks to drugs.

  • the east german steroid machine of the 70's in motion!!

  • Thx for uploading. Where did you get this event from?

No one on youtube has uploaded the 100m Women or the 4x100m until now.

Doesn't it exist on media ? AFAIR in the Semi-Finale of the 100m Women a new World Record was made. I think it was Richter or Stecher.

  • @leroyrs Hi there - yes I'd also like to see the womens 100m from 1976. It was Richter who set the then world record in the semi's - 11.01

  • @athlete5399

Yeah, Richter vs. "GDR on Drugs". In the Montreal Final Marlies Oelsner Göhr was only fifth with an average time and 1 year later in Dresden she ran 10.88 with a tail wind of 2 m/s . ;-)

Since she was 17 years old she was on steroids her trainer told.

    A. Richter was unlucky that the Montreal 100m final had had 3 false starts. Probably without this disadvantage she would have run under 11 sec. Who knows...

  • @leroyrs Oelsner was dead last in Montreal in 11.34, Ashford was 5th in 11.24.

  • @karrtt1234

    Thx for your information.

EX-GDR Sprint Coach "Horst-Dieter Hille" confessed in court (Erfurt1999) that Marlies Oelsner Goehr was given 1-2 Oral-Turinabol pills a day from 1975 to 1988.

The Montreal Games are still my favourites. Great athletes, great music (Victor Vogel). impressing location.

  • ahh the good old days when all the east germans were on steroids before testing came into the olympics...i would love to see the footage of the east german women swimmers from the 76 games it was stunning how bulked up they were

  • @planbsk8r130 I knew by your comment that you had to be from the US, good old America the Black and White.....sad... really !!

  • @planbsk8r130 I saw that you were jamaican .. but u listed yourself as living in the US did you ?? !, Then like I said ..America the black and white

  • @karrtt1234 Good for you, I agree... it was an idiotic comment anyway !

  • Doped up beyond belief! How could people not know that something was amiss. BTW, apparently after the olympics in the St. Lawrence they found so many tourniquets, vials, syringes and needles -- no surprise.

  • Renate Stecher is a horse here, she looks much bigger than she was in 72.

  • How can you call me a naive person? You DON'T know me! Of course there were many other athletes on drugs, if I listed them all I'd run out of space! Just that the eastern bloc were very systematic about it, that's why it's been highlighted in so many comments from other people too, Surely you must know that? Or is it that you're the naive one?

  • Try to stick to the same era ! Christie and Chambers came way after this period !!! This is they 70's, U weren't even born yet !

  • Look at the size of Renate Stecher here... and these people that believe she wasn't on drugs??!!!

  • She is so big here she looks like a guy coming around corner or off the curve.. she is very big here... and they didn't know she was on drugs, that is sort of surprising ... I am sure they suspected as much.

  • Well, Raelene would have medalled for sure and it would have been nice to see her cross the line ahead of Stecher, but unfortunately it was not to be. Kevin do u have the 200 from the World cup 1977, or the 100 from Montreal ?

  • When I watch this race I keep thinking about Raelene Boyle, who was unjustly d.q.'d in the semi by the starter, later the tapes showed she had not false started. She had the world's fastest time going into the games and Ritcher said all the girls felt she was the favorite, so when I see the 3 of them coming down the straight (Eckert, Ritcher & Stecher), I can't help but envision Boyle in her yellow jersey coming right with them... such bad luck she had.

  • I know what you mean! I sympathise also with Sonia Lannaman who was also one of the fastest in the world that year and sadly pulled her hamstring whilst at the games. She defeated Stecher in the 100m just prior to the games.

  • I know Andrea has wins over Stecher, but I had no knowledge of Sonia beating Renate.

  • I'm not sure why anyone would say "shame on the anti-DDR stuff." Their drug-taking...and very specifically Wockel's ... is well-documented in their own files.

  • Look at how big Stecher is here ... she looks so heavy... too much... too bad Boyle was dissqualified by that idiot Jack whoever ... after reviewing the tape it was show that she hadn't false started at all... robbed again

  • The GDR were was the one place that was proven to have a systematic drug taking programme backed by the governmenbt, so of course they're gonna be a very OBVIOUS target!

  • Nice clip, shame about the anti-DDR stuff again .. I am absoltely sure the East Germans weren't the only drug takers that year, but they're a soft target.

  • I would like to watch 100M Women 1n 1976 Olimpic.

  • That would make raelene boyle the winner. There is nothing suspicious about Ritcher career - runner peak and then they fall of there peak.. and don't run as fast as at there peak ... so she peaked at the right time... she wasn't setting records all over the place... she was ligit.Unlike the East Germans and Russians.

  • Yes, Richter was a fine athlete. I'm probably being biased but Sonia Lannaman also had many injury problems and her full potential was never realised.

  • do not forget that richter won gold in the sprint relay in 1972 and also was 5th in the 100m in munich! she also ran a 11,03 sec in 1977 before she was injured! she was the best west european female sprinter in 1979 and propably had wun the europeans in prague if she hadn`t been injured!

  • Annegret Richter and other female athletes from west germany are very suspicious of being on drugs as their compatriots from the east during the 70s. Richter had a very iregular carrer in track and field. In 1976 during the olimpic games she set an unexpected new world record in 100m in 11.01 secs wich was faster than Stecher and even than the winner time in Moscow (11.06 kondratyeva and 11.07 Görh)I think the real winner in this final maybe was out of the 5 first runners, all germans, by the way

  • So that should make Ashford or Cheeseborough the winner, if I'm not mistaken.

  • So, Wockel also competed in hurdles events at a junior level?

  • wöckel was european junior champion in the 100m hurdles in duisburg (west-germany) 1973
